Washington — With just over two weeks before voters head to the polls, the presidential campaigns are bearing down on the same swing states that have been the focus for the past year, but they are using different prescriptions for several battlegrounds. Mitt Romney hasn’t been to Wisconsin in the last 30 days, for example. But over about the same period his campaign has been outspending Obama there, $3.9 million to $2.9 million. In Virginia, the opposite is true. Romney has been there 11 times over the past 30 days — four for Obama — but is being outspent on
Comments: As Sarah Palin says, "Polls are for strippers and cross-country skiers."
Gallup seems steady as she goes. Rasmussen also good for the American in swing states.
Hussein empty chair could only come up with Romnesia. Romnesia reminds us of Indonesia where Obama grew up. That is a huge problem for the president: he does not think as one of US. If you watch 2016 or Dreams from My Real Father in Netflix you will see what I mean.
...well l can believe that the Boston Globe would be puzzled by what the polls are showing...
...what I know, Team 0bama is very very scared of what the polls are speaking to. Once there were Reagan Democrats. When this is over they shall be speaking of Romney Democrats and the complete, across the board loss of support that 0bama will experience. He may get the majority of some groups, but greatly reduced from 08. A variation of the "Bradley effect"...
Just a minor point, but President Romney's position on abortion law is exactly the same as Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg's position. She has maintained that the U.S. Supreme Court should never have taken Roe v. Wade, but instead should have left the issue in the domain of the states. She also said Roe v. Wade was poorly reasoned and poorly written. (When a decision talks about emanations and penumbras flowing from the constitution, only a third rate legal mind, like that of hussein obama or joe biden would support it.)
I happen to agree with that position--the Supremes should not have taken on Roe v Wade, and I am vehemently pro-life. When and if RvW is overturned, abortions will not be outlawed. The laws of the individual states will be in force again--as it should be.
We have a deal. After years of false starts, mutual recriminations and steadily escalating pressure, Iran has finally agreed to accept real limits on its nuclear program. In his statement Saturday night announcing the agreement, U.S. President Barack Obama called it an "important first step" and declared that diplomacy had "opened up a new path toward a world that is more secure." (snip) But we’re still a very long way from Tipperary on this one. And we should be careful about putting on the party hats and breaking out the champagne—at least for now, anyway. And here are five reasons why.
Nov. 22 falls on the Friday before Thanksgiving this year, just as it did 50 years ago. And that extraordinary day in 1963 began on the Hill in ways that would seem familiar to the congressional denizens of today. (Snip) As was the custom, then as now, the chore of acting as presiding officer had been parceled out to several of the freshmen with the lunchtime slot assigned to the youngest in the class, 31-year-old Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts. He was in the chair when his brother was killed. And from that instant, the scene at the Capitol unfolded
Before President Obama was elected, the United States was known as one nation under God — but the Obama Administration seems to think otherwise. Organizing For America published an email Sunday suggesting the greatest nation on the face of the Earth owes its allegiance to another deity. David Axelrod write that “we’ve made serious progress as a nation under President Obama.” You can read his edict in its entirety below. No wonder the Democratic National Committee voted to remove the Almighty from their party in 2012. They only have room for one God.
Second-term presidents in the past 30 years have had some pretty embarrassing news conferences, full of frank admissions of failure, submissive spasms of shame and groveling, grieving apologies. Bill Clinton had to admit that he actually did have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky; George W. Bush finally thought of something he might have done wrong; his dad had to explain all those new taxes after his unequivocal pledge; and even Ronald Reagan ate crow over the Iran-Contra affair. But there has never, ever, been a more pitiful presser than the one conducted last week by President Obama.
The continuing attention devoted to the blunders, incompetence, and lies surrounding the Obamacare rollout is much deserved. But we shouldn’t forget that the President’s health-care monstrosity is merely the latest and biggest of scores of government entitlement programs suffering from the same flawed progressive assumption––that government “experts” armed with coercive power alone can solve problems better left to the states, civil society, and the free market. In reality, such programs relentlessly metastasize, increasing as well fraud, waste, abuse, and costs. One such program is SNAP, the kinder and gentler name for what we used to call food stamps. Apparently the
While Barack Obama’s grotesque lie, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it!” haunts millions of Americans who are learning first-hand that the exact opposite is true, The One, in concert with corrupt RINOS and Democrats (whom are automatically understood to be universally corrupt), is counting on another WHOPPER to codify his amnesty nightmare into federal law. With respect to amnesty, the equivalent Obama lie is, “Once we pass reform (AKA, Amnesty), we will secure the borders!) Translated: If you like American sovereignty, language, and culture you CAN KEEP IT——if you pass amnesty!
I suppose liberal politicians have to operate by the philosophy that if you want to make an omelet, you have to break a few eggs. But 15.8 million of them? That´s a lot of broken eggs - even through the White House spin masters don´t want you to look at it that way. During the past few weeks, hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of Americans have been notified that they are being dropped from the health insurance coverages they have now. Some may remember President Barack Obama´s promises, made over and over again, that if you like the insurance you have, Obamacare
Cairo, Egypt--Former Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi’s trial begins on Monday November 4th, (Valentine’s day in Egypt), and intel rumors are rife that the trial will prove President Barack Obama’s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. If former Chief of Egyptian Intelligence Murad Muwafi, can prove Morsi’s agreement to the presence of terrorists in Egypt and providing them with protection, he will be executed for the crime of high treason. (Snip) These are the facts Muwafi will present to the trial: The Muslim Brotherhood was linked directly with the CIA—before the massive Peoples’ Revolution of January 25th—and the Barack Obama Administration kept inciting the
President Barack Obama personally authorised the phone tapping of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s mobile because he wanted to ´know everything´ about the world’s most powerful woman, it was claimed on Sunday. (Snip) ‘Obama did not stop the action at that time but allowed it to continue,’ said an intelligence official familiar with the NSA operation against Merkel image on Sunday. ´Obama did not stop the action but rather furthered it,´ said the Bild informant. ´The reason for the action?´ said Bild. ´Obama wanted to know exactly who this woman was.´ German handling of the eurozone crisis and its refusal to get involved
US President Barack Obama was scheduled to visit the Church of Our Lady cathedral in Dresden during a June 2009 whistle-stop visit to Germany. (Snip) On this day, at the latest, it must have dawned on diplomats that this US president was different from his predecessors. He was someone who did not attach value to diplomatic niceties nor to the sensitivities of his close friends, which he already had proven as a presidential candidate. At that time he put Chancellor Merkel in an awkward position by wanting to make a campaign speech in front of the Brandenburg Gate. This site
While Washington, and the press, have been in an uproar over the government shutdown and the debt-limit negotiations, the debt itself has continued to climb. (Snip) The big lesson of the shutdown is that -- in a time when so-called "draconian cuts" usually refer to mere decreases in the rate of growth of spending on programs -- America was able to do without all the "non-essential" government workers just fine. (The same AP poll cited above says that 80% have felt no impact from the shutdown; a majority also oppose increasing the debt limit.) Turns out that most of those
Sir Elton John has honoured Hillary Clinton for her work to help those affected by HIV/AIDS, at an annual event for his foundation. She was excited as she accepted the first founders award from the Elton John AIDS Foundation last night in New York City. The former secretary of state told the crowd at Cipriani´s restaurant that "we still have so far to go" when it comes to helping those affected by HIV/AIDS. Billy Joel, Alec Baldwin and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo also attended the black tie event. Recent Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Heart performed a dozen
Though the Obama administration said that individuals making under $45,960 would get Obamacare subsidies, low-income young people in most of America´s big cities who relied on that promise are discovering they will be ineligible for them. According to a CNN report, though young people are now required to purchase insurance under Obamacare or pay a fine, "many low-income younger Americans won´t get any subsidy at all" because, as the Obama administration claims, the "cost of insurance is lower than the government initially expected." In April, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius "told a
JERUSALEM -- Israel´s prime minister has criticized the international community´s nuclear deal with Iran as a "historic mistake." Speaking to his Cabinet, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel is not bound by the deal and reserves the right to defend itself. That is a reference to possible military action against Iran. Israel believes Iran is trying to develop a nuclear weapon, although Tehran denies that. Netanyahu said the deal would not adequately stop Iran, while also giving it relief from sanctions. "Today the world became a much more dangerous place because the most dangerous regime in the world
The sounds of Christmas in the Obama White House mean James Taylor, Mariah Carey and Nat King Cole. “The kids tease me that they know it’s Christmas when I pull out my playlist,” First Lady Michelle Obama tells Ladies’ Home Journal. The holiday tunes are accompanied by hot chocolate and a fire in the Yellow Oval room as President Obama and his family decorate their tree. “Christmas has always been a special time in my household,” Michelle Obama says in the December/January issue. “Growing up, we lived in a little-bitty apartment, but my mom put her heart and soul into decorating that house.”
“For the first time in nearly a decade we have halted parts of Iran’s nuclear program” announced a jubilant Barack Obama after the news of the just-signed Geneva six-month interim agreement with Iran. But the American goal for the accord was that the Iranians not “advance their program” of building a uranium nuclear bomb (and perhaps a plutonium bomb too); the apparent deal exactly permits such advancement, plus sanctions relief to Tehran worth about $9 billion. This wretched deal offers one of those rare occasions when comparison with Neville Chamberlain in Munich in 1938 is valid. An overeager Western government, blind to
Noel Ignatiev, a professor at Massachusetts College of Art, has for years advocated the total elimination of Caucasians. During his final lecture before retirement last Monday, he told his white male students "you don’t deserve to live. You are a cancer, you’re a disease." NOEL IGNATIEV: If you are a white male, you don’t deserve to live. You are a cancer, you’re a disease, white males have never contributed anything positive to the world! They only murder, exploit and oppress non-whites! At least a white woman can have sex with a black man and make a brown baby but what can a
Bankrupt and hemorrhaging population, the city of Detroit is banking on greener pastures to lead its rebirth. A private company is snapping up 150 acres on the Motor City´s East End -- property where more than 1,000 homes once formed a gritty neighborhood -- and turning it into what is being billed as the world´s largest urban farm. Hantz Woodlands plans to start by planting trees, but hopes to raise crops and even livestock in the future, right in the midst of the once-proud city. “We are interested with moving into different types of agriculture,” Mike Score, president of Hantz,
Normally, I don´t traffic much in gossip, but the case of Valerie Jarrett is different. She may well be the most powerful woman in America, and almost certainly is the most powerful member of the Obama administration. The adjective "shadowy" definitely applies to this woman who enjoys her power through her relationship to the President, having never been confirmed by Senate hearings. Her title as "Senior Adviser" to the President barely scratches the surface of her real power. President Obama has time for his 150+ rounds of golf, his extensive television watching, and his expertise on March Madness bracketology because ValJar,
Appearing on Arsenio Hall’s talk show over the weekend, ?Jesse Jackson defended both President Obama, who he said has faced heretofore unseen advsersity as president, as well as Jackson’s embattled son, who he said “had the best voting record in the Congress” before he was sentenced by unfair laws. On the president, Jackson praised him for “serving us well against the most hostility an American president has ever had” and “more attempts to derail his legislation then in the history of the country.” Between job creation and his efforts in Iraq, President Obama has “maintained a kind of dignity” without stooping
The Obamacare rollout remains a debacle, but now enough time has passed that smart people are beginning to dissect what went wrong. So far, the best take I´ve seen comes from Internet pioneer Clay Shirky, who notes that the politicians weren´t listening to the people doing the actual work. I was talking about this to my Administrative Law class not long ago. I had told them that there are few real secrets in D.C. because everyone sleeps with everyone else. A student then asked why both the administration and the GOP seemed to have been blindsided by the Obamacare website problems. "I guess nobody was sleeping with the techies,"
America has long had two embassies in Italy: One for the country, the other for the Holy See. Barbie Latza Nadeau on why soon there will be only one. Citing security concerns without naming a specific threat, the U.S. State Department is planning to shutter its embassy to the Holy See inside the lush Villa Domiziana overlooking the Circus Maximus and Palatine Hill in central Rome. The embassy, which has been in operation since 1984 when Ronald Reagan and Pope John Paul II signed an accord, will essentially be swallowed up by the larger, more influential U.S. embassy to Italy.
Located just 50 miles off the U.S. coast, north of New York City, sits Petra, a heart-shaped island that now belongs to Brad Pitt, after Angelina reportedly shelled out £12.2million to buy it for his 50th birthday. Pitt is apparently an architect fanatic, so when Jolie discovered that the island´s only two homes were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, she was sold. Pitt once said,“When I discovered Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright, it changed my life.” A source revealed that “as soon as Angelina heard the island was on the market she arranged a viewing. She was really impressed.
"I cannot tell a lie." That´s the signature line from a classic American story. When the nation´s first president was asked as a boy if he had chopped down his father´s cherry tree, he didn´t say "I can neither confirm nor deny those reports," or "it depends on what the meaning of the word ´is´ is." George Washington told the truth even if it got him in trouble. The moral of the story -- Washington was a great leader because he would not lie, and all presidents should be as honest as our founding father. Well, guess what? That story about
