Will last Tuesday’s big debate moment become Monday night’s big debate topic? Tuesday’s moment came when the candidates focused on the recent attack that killed the US ambassador to Libya and three others. As the Wall Street Journal’s conservative editorial page wrote: It was Mitt Romney’s “weakest moment.” The New York Time’s liberal editorial page concluded that Romney’s fumbling handling of the Libya issue was “the most devastating moment for Mr. Romney.” Now as the campaigns ready for the foreign policy debate, to be held Monday in Florida, the question is whether Romney returns to the question of Libya. Political
Comments: How in the world can he avoid talking about Libya in a foreign policy debate?? I find it odd that he says it would be a risk for Romney to talk about it and yet still calls it a scandal. Once again poor little Juan is absolutely wrong.
Yeah, Juan, Mitt will be sure to follow your sage, non-biased advice. Just like CNN this morning is essentially saying "Stop talking about Benghazi." Why? Because it hurts their guy, President Empty Chair
Romney was on a roll until Candy cut him off and announced that OBAMA did in fact call it terrorism. That was wrong and she later admitted it, but it stopped Mitt's momentum, which is what Candy meant to do.
Juan carrying Obama's water as usual. Mitt Romney faces a bigger risk if he DOESN'T bury Obama on Libya. He needs to gather the facts to date and hit him hard in a Presidential way, then explain how he would have handled it.
Romney was rattled when Crowley backed up Obama's lie and I agree he didn't regain his balance on that subject. But, he'll be ready on Monday. I see that CNN thinks it's time for us to move on from the Benghazi story, too. Now, I wonder why?
Keep dreaming, Juan. You're going to say obama's right no matter what he says or doesn't say. Just because Fox News and Business put you on every other show, it doesn't mean we like listening to you or that we actually do. I make it a point to mute or change the channel, just so you know.
What I am loving about this is the feeling that I get from Romney that he knows exactly what he is doing. 4 years ago, McCain would have bought the 'we should not politicize a trajedy' hook, line and sinker.
Romney probably had to contain himself at the last debate and, strange as it may seem, Crowley did ROMNEY a favor by making it a larger story.
Now Romney goes into the final debate with a full magazine and one in the pipe.
Juan, poor Juan is there any way to convince you to just lock yourself in a closet and shut up? This BS is so typical you, "Juan," it isn't even necessary to see your byline to know you're the writer. Ever more frantic and bulgy-eyed, Juan not only looks more in the tank for Zippy, he looks more ludicrous every day. And he's become even more sensitive to anyone who challenges his liberal stupidity reacting in anger and spitting into the camera. Dare we hope that FOX, and anyone else inviting him to speak anywhere, will wake up and do the world a favor and find a big enough cork to gag him for good? I worry when I find myself almost feeling sorry for him.
Well, who would ever listen to anything Juan Williams has to say; he is so liberal progressive, and he is dumber than a door. Juan is so arrogant and ignorant. Romney did not fumble the Libya scandal; 0bama lied, and Big Candy backed him up in his lie, now they are trying to walk it back.
The word is out that Ambassador Chris Stephens was gay. There were ads placed in the local papers advertizing for gay body guards. For unknown reasons, the military guards were withdrawn a month earlier. Essentially, the Ambassador was defenseless that night. His two friends, Former Navy Seals, were not supposed to even be there. He wrote how he feared for his safety, asked for protection; it was denied. My question: Was this attack planned as a hit on this guy, and was the video produced to provide cover for the planned hit? Who would have wanted this chaos, and would it have provided an opportunity for Obama to look Presidential?
Juan and his lefties would love to scare Romney away from the most devastating blunder Øbama has fallen into- his lie that he knew on day one that it was a terrorist attack, and now, Romney, locking him into the lie in the debate, and dummy Øbama even going so far as to double cinch it with support from the so-called "moderator", Romney is now set to set Øbama's pants on fire in the Monday night flap. Øbama is in deep, deep self-made doo and knows it. The lefty media and friends will try everything to try to prevent Romney from pulling the trigger Monday night.
Another questionable point in Juan's piece: declaring Obama winner of the second debate. This is debatable. Some say Obama, some say Romney, some say tie. And if Obama and Crowley had not conspired against Romney on Bengazi, Romney would have been the winner across the boards.
What happened at Benghazi is the worst presidential scandal in history, and anyone with a modicum of sense knows it. It's not impossible to believe that some of the worst theories about what really happened might be horrifyingly true, and that several people including Obama, Hillary Clinton, James Clapper, and Susan Rice might merit imprisonment. Was Benghazi a horribly failed attempt at making Obama look like the Israelis at Entebbe in 1976? Why were Libyan al-Qa'eda members armed by this Administration? Really, who needs enemies whan our own leaders produce such tragic results?
The late and much lamented Tony Snow considered Juan Williams to be a good friend, and if Tony had a high personal opinion of Juan, so much the better for Juan as a human being. I never disagreed with Tony on anything, so great was my respect and admiration for him. Juan has written some very wise things about racial relations, and for that I respect him. Obviously, he is a good person.
But politically, Juan is an embarrassment. On the subject of Obama, one would be wise not only to take Juan's opinions with a boulder of salt but to believe the opposite of what he says. He really is that much upside down concerning his Chicago hero. With his reasoning faculties deliberately disabled and his political perception blinded, what he says would be funny if it weren't so tragic. Think with your head, Juan. Racial pride is no substitute for wisdom.
Ha! Juan trying to scare someone. He is one of the most useless pieces of flesh to be considered a journalist. He so embarrassing and doesn't even realize the idiotic statements he makes. He belongs sitting next to Al (resist we much) Sharpton instead of FNC unless he is there for strictly entertainment purposes.
Next President Romney just won the Al Smith roast in the same way he won the first debate--the speakers must have written their own jokes. The Romney sons probably held a session and their sides still hurting, saying nothing about campaign people chiming in. Obama just isn't as likeable, guy, face it. LOL. His narcissistic self aware self-roasting jokes were not warm and too political agenda driven for the event. He failed again. He made susre to let everyone know Europe loves him better than they did Romney which made him look small.
Even Chris Matthews laughed at some Mitt jokes--who could help it?
No, Juan, Mitt isn't shaking in his boots about going one on two with obama and Sgieffer. The Eye of the Tiger? The CEO winner who doesn't have to lie, cheat. steal or other stuff to do it.
Clear eyes, full hearts in Ann Romney's words of encouragement have to win?
As a true Mitt fan I would add, how long has it been since one such as I worry about measuring up to a inner workings of politician or a candidate and veep? Try harder to be like. A role model for kids? Well not since GWB, in my case LOL? It seems like forever!
i must live in a different world than juan williams....mitt romney stated what every one of us knew. barack hussein was apologizing to his muslim buddies knowing full well the video had nothing to do with the slaughter of our ambassador. obama lied and deceived the american public. unfortunately, it wasn't the first time. candy "double wide" crowley so favored obama, i was screaming at the TV.
More than a year after the Benghazi terrorist attack that led to the murder of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, and three other Americans, there will be a public airing of the review process that was intended to quell all questions about U.S. government failings that could have led to the massacre. Instead, serious questions remain unanswered. The House Oversight and Government Affairs Committee hearing this Thursday, September 19, will feature Amb. Thomas Pickering and Adm. Thomas Mullen, who headed the Accountability Review Board (ARB), which was convened by then Secretary Hillary Clinton to determine the adequacy of security, availability of intelligence,
The Syria researcher whose Wall Street Journal op-piece was cited by Secretary of State John Kerry and Sen. John McCain during congressional hearings about the use of force has been fired from the Institute for the Study of War for lying about having a Ph.D., the group announced on Wednesday. “The Institute for the Study of War has learned and confirmed that, contrary to her representations, Ms. Elizabeth O’Bagy does not in fact have a Ph.D. degree from Georgetown University,” the institute said in a statement. “ISW has accordingly terminated Ms. O’Bagy’s employment, effective immediately." O’Bagy told POLITICO’s Kate Brannen in
The escalting war between MSNBC’s Al Sharpton and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly took an unexpected turn last night when O’Reilly revealed that he had donated $25,000 to Sharpton’s charity to help pay for Christmas gifts and dinner for underprivileged families in Harlem. Earlier today, Sharpton offered some choice words for O’Reilly in an interview, but this afternoon on his show he really let the Fox host have it. Sharpton pointed that like O’Reilly, he never mentioned the donation until now. “Bill doesn’t realize it, but this story actually reveals what kind of person he is… Bill gave that money privately
Fox TV Studios has pulled out of talks to produce a 4-hour-long NBC miniseries about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. The two sides had previously been in contact over producing Hillary, starring Diane Lane as the eponymous politician. But Deadline reported this afternoon that “with the two sides far apart, and were never able to bridge the gap on the deal terms.” “The economics of TV movies and miniseries are challenging, which is why very few production companies take on such programs these days,” explained Deadline. “That includes NBC’s own studio, Universal TV, which would not produce NBC’s longform projects, including
It’s clear by now that if conservatives are ever going to even begin to roll back the overt, ongoing and worsening lawlessness of the Obama administration, they’re going to have to go over, through, or around the Republican party first. The GOP “leadership,” as presently constituted, is nothing more than the lesser half of the Permanent Bipartisan Fusion Government, content to munch its cud and occasionally low in the direction of constitutional propriety, and then resume its own modest but lucrative role in fertilizing the “two-party” system. As evidence, consider Bob Costa’s piece today on Senator Ted Cruz, and the
Speaking Thursday at a joint appearance with Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, Secretary of State John Kerry admitted that there were “many al Qaeda leaders now operating in Syria”—where President Barack Obama decided two months ago to provide military support to rebel forces fighting alongside al Qaeda to overthrow the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Asad. Asad is a member of the Alawite sect, which is a derivative of Shiite Islam; the Syrian rebels are predominantly Sunni, and al Qaeda is Sunni. According to the CIA, Assad’s Alawite sect represents no more than 16 percent of the Syrian population, while 74 percent
Egypt´s president on Friday suggested US President Barack Obama´s condemnation of a deadly crackdown on Islamists may "encourage violent armed groups". "The presidency fears statements not based on facts may encourage violent armed groups," it said in a statement responding to Obama´s condemnation of Wednesday´s carnage when police moved to disperse Islamist protest camps. "The presidency appreciates US concern for developments in Egypt, but it wished it could have clarified matters," said the statement published by the official MENA news agency. "Egypt is facing terrorist acts aimed at government institutions and vital installations," the statement said.
The Washington Post´s article detailing the fourth amendment abuses by the NSA got some push back from the administration who attempted to "edit" the article before publication. The internal audit referenced in the article was obtained by the WaPo from Edward Snowden. The details of the audit indicated repeated and growing privacy violations by the NSA, violations which included obtaining thousands of American citizen´s communications records and using methods of information collection that were later deemed unconstitutional by a court. The Post was able to interview John Delong, NSA director of compliance for the article and they were initially
There´s much talk about Chris Christie as the frontrunner for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 (yes, already). Christie is certainly gearing up for a run, and has begun by attacking potential GOP rivals. But while moderate Republicans like Christie for 2016, he is their version of what Rick Perry was for conservatives in the 2012 race: a locally successful governor whose attributes will not stand up well on the national stage. Perry had much to recommend him as a national contender: staunch conservatism on most policy issues, and an economic record that even liberals would find attractive. But his Texas
Hillary Clinton has worked her way back in the news by making racially-charged remarks to the American Bar Association’s annual meeting in San Francisco. There is, she claimed, an ongoing “assault on voting rights.” But the only “assault” going on is a liberal assault on the truth about efforts to protect the integrity of our election process. Clinton’s polemic claims fit nicely within a calculated political strategy adopted late last year. At a December meeting in Washington, D.C., three dozen of the most powerful liberal advocacy groups providing money and manpower for Democratic candidates hammered out three agreed-upon objectives for

President Obama has tried to defend his health care plan lately by criticizing Republicans for trying to roll back ObamaCare without offering any alternatives -- despite the fact that Republicans have offered several. In a White House news conference a week ago, the president said: "They used to say, ´well, we´re going to replace it with something better.´ There´s not even a pretense now that they´re going to replace it with something better." Moments later, Obama elaborated, saying "they used to say they had a replacement. That never actually arrived, right? I mean, I´ve been hearing about this whole replacement thing for
The rights of a transgendered Colorado high school student are being put ahead of girls the boy harasses in the girls bathroom. A male student at Florence (CO) High School who claims to be transgendered has caused controversy by harassing female students in the girls room, but will not face any discipline – this despite vocal protests from the girls’ parents. ‘The boy’s rights as a transgender trump their daughters’ privacy rights,’ the school has told concerned parents, according to CBN. Unidentified because all involved are minors, the students are being threatened with removal from sports teams or even hate crime charges
The Los Angeles Times headline said it all: "Rep. Paul Ryan Fails to Close Republican Divide." When this became Ryan´s job, or whether his now "controversial" Wall Street Journal op-ed was even an attempt at doing that, is anyone´s guess. But once again, Republicans have decided to cannibalize themselves viciously and needlessly instead of uniting over common goals. To be clear, the divide on the right isn´t over policy. No Republican I´ve met thinks Obamacare is good legislation. No one is suggesting capitulation on the debt ceiling. Everyone wants spending cuts, entitlement reform and deficit reduction. Where we´re divided is over tactics. Incidentally, Ryan
It’s a buyer’s market for President Barack Obama. With House and Senate Republicans preparing competing proposals to end the government shutdown and avert a default on the nation’s debt, Obama hasn’t shown any inclination to jump at the first offer. The plan House Republicans presented to the White House on Thursday night wasn’t enticing enough, and there is a sense in Washington that the GOP’s scramble to avoid further political pain from this latest fiscal crisis will give Obama plenty of opportunity to define the terms of a settlement. At this point, White House officials won’t even describe
Good morning. Over the past few days, I’ve met with Republicans and Democrats from both houses of Congress in an effort to reopen your government and remove the dangers of default from our economy. It’s a positive development that House Republicans have agreed on the need to avoid the economic consequences of not meeting our country’s commitments. Because once the debt ceiling is raised, and the shutdown is over, there’s a lot we can accomplish together. We’ve created seven and a half million new jobs in the past three and a half years. Now let’s create more. We’ve cut our deficits in half over
Boston – A possible glitch in a computer system upgrade was causing major problems nationwide with the Electronic Benefits Transfer System on Saturday, as a countless number of shoppers found themselves stranded at the register. Reports from around the country began pouring in around 9 a.m. on Saturday that customers’ EBT cards were not working in stores. The glitch, however, did not appear to be part of the government shutdown. At 2 p.m., an EBT customer service representative told CBS Boston that the system was currently down for a computer system upgrade. The representative said the glitch is affecting people
Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah) and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) attended a rally protesting the closure of the World War II Memorial, according to reports. The lawmakers and the former governor – and 2008 GOP vice-presidential nominee – joined a crowd that removed barricades at the memorial and chanted “tear down these walls,” according to Washington, D.C., radio station WTOP. (Snip) The presence of a Confederate flag at the protest, which later moved to the White House, sparked an uproar on Twitter.
Police officers in Los Angeles have long faced accusations of institutional racism, but now it appears their dogs may be unjustly discriminatory, too. A new report focusing on the Canine Special Detail of the LA Sherriff’s Department (LASD) has uncovered a vast increase in the number of minority individuals bitten by police dogs since 2004. And in the first six months of this year, every single victim of a bite by a LASD dog was African-American or Latino. The data was published in a new report by the Police Assessment Resource Centre (Parc), a Los Angeles-based non-profit organisation, devoted to “advancing effective
House Republicans were furious with Senate Republicans and President Obama on Saturday for trying to cut a debt ceiling deal that leaves them out in the cold. Members emerged from a conference meeting saying Obama had double-crossed them by breaking off talks in order to shop for a better deal from the Senate GOP. They said the deal, formulated by centrist Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine.), would never get House GOP approval. “They are trying to jam us with the Senate and we are not going to roll over and take that,” House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said after a GOP
Elizabeth Smart is making the rounds, flogging her new book My Story (written with Congressman Chris Stewart). Smart is, of course, the beautiful Mormon girl who in 2002 at 14 years old was abducted for nine months by evil lunatic Brian David Mitchell and his wife. Then, miraculously, she was found and reunited with her family. Today, she’s married and says she “couldn’t be happier.” She does good work fighting human trafficking and speaking to sexual abuse survivors. I’ve always been kind of fascinated with Smart. (Snip) Her kidnappers dragged her around the country, chaining her up like an animal
WASHINGTON — In March, Henry Chao, the chief digital architect for the Obama administration’s new online insurance marketplace, told industry executives that he was deeply worried about the Web site’s debut. “Let’s just make sure it’s not a third-world experience,” he told them. Two weeks after the rollout, few would say his hopes were realized. For the past 12 days, a system costing more than $400 million and billed as a one-stop click-and-go hub for citizens seeking health insurance has thwarted the efforts of millions to simply log in. The growing national outcry has deeply embarrassed the White House, which
Jeff Jones started shopping for health insurance as soon as the Obamacare insurance marketplaces opened on October 1. The Kentucky resident is like a lot LGBT citizens who have not had access to affordable health insurance in the past. (Snip) As a whole the LGBT community has less experience with insurance than the general population. A survey done by the Center for American Progress found that about a third of respondents were uninsured. It´s estimated some 16.3% of the general population is uninsured. In honor of National Coming Out Day on Friday, Out2Enroll´s "Be Out. Be Healthy. Get Covered" campaign
For over a year it has been common knowledge within the Obama administration that the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) could not launch its network of health exchanges for the Affordable Care Act in a minimally acceptable way. That knowledge did not stop the HHS publicity machine from constantly assuring the American public that its computer systems would be ready for the first enrollment period.(Snip) HHS also blundered when it built its computer system in violation of the Privacy Act. In short, if you enroll in a health plan through an exchange, family members and recent ex-spouses can
