WASHINGTON — The CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month's deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam's Prophet Muhammad, U.S. officials have told The Associated Press. It is unclear who, if anyone, saw the cable outside the CIA at that point and how high up in the agency the information went. The Obama administration maintained publicly for a week that the attack on the diplomatic mission in Benghazi that killed U.S.
Comments: It looks like they didn't want to take the fall for 0bama. It gets worse every day for the pathological liar.
The Benghazi Bullshirter is on the ropes with this one. The knee-pad media can only cover up so much then even they are outta here and the CIA is not about to fall on a sword because of this short attention span, disinterested, golfing, vacationing, partying poseur that missed too many security briefings!
0bama and Hillary are such frauds. A day after the Terrorist Attack, the CIA found militant links. Yet, when Hillary sent in a team to investigate, she sent the FBI who did not get to Benghazi until three weeks later, as the FBI did not feel it safe enough to enter the city and investigate. It made me puke when 0bama at the last debate puffed out his chest and loudly proclaimed, "We will find the people who did this, and we will punish them." Who does he think he is kidding, it is weeks and weeks later, and if he did nothing in the first week, why would any person believe him?
Reagan was responsible for Iran Contra. W was responsible for Yellow Cake, WMDs and what not. But Zippy is a leftist. There are different rules that we saw on vivid and ugly display on Tuesday night. The question the MSM is asking is "What did Romney know and when did he know it"? Voting on Nov 6 is the only answer if you want your country back.

AP article is written to imply that we determined it was a terrorist attack AFTER the fact rather than as the culmination of terrorists attacks against US and British missions. Benghazi has been a recruiting center for jihadists fighters in Iraq for 6 to 8 years. The armed overthrow of Qaddafi began in Benghazi. There were enough terror attacks preceding 9/11/12 to frighten Ambassador Stevens about traveling to the city. Finally, the US security detachment withdrawn in August wanted to remain on site for fear of future attacks. The 4 deaths were the result of Obama's policies in Libya and BO's failure to protect US citizens sent there.
AP's Kim Dozier is drinking the Candi Crowley prepared Obama-Aid.
They keep trying to make it OK that Obama wasn't given the information. Isn't he the Commander in Chief? Why would this info not be given to the President? Makes no sense. Plausible deniability doesn't work in matters of national defense.
Sounds like Intel did their job by notifying "Washington." Now, just put names to Washington and we have our answer. Intel will not go quietly into the night. Subpoena them to the hilt and let them sing.
I think the Obama administration likes all this bickering over the timeline because it distracts from the real issue which is the rise of alQueda on his watch.
I think who-said-what-when is a losing argument for a debate. Romney should just firmly state that the administration was giving conflicting statements about what we all agree now was a pre-planned 9/11 terroist attack by an alQueda organization. Go on to point out that Obama added to the confusion by never clearly addressing the questions with a press conference. Instead he continued campaigning and had interviews with Letterman and Univision. A president should speak directly to the American people in a clear manner.
Then Romney should talk about how alQueda is not on its heals as the president tells us but is regrouping and growing. Then if he connects that to Obama's failed policies, it will be a knock out punch.

The phony unemployment numbers are too little and too late. Most folks are seeing through the fraud.
The racism and blaming Bush ploys are past their sell-by dates and are starting to stink.
Oblamer has now dissed the intelligence community, and they are responding by letting info like this out. It is so bad that the obamedia whores can no longer ignore it.
The polls are shifting because the polling commpanies know they had better start sampling and reporting more accurately or their future business opportunities will diminish.
obumbler has done poorly in the debates, and people are seeing a Romney outside of the distortion of the media and obumbler campaign propaganda and discovering that he really isn't a horned devil after all.
Even "news"papers in big cities that almost always endorse the "D" candidate are turning on him.
All of the little holes in the dike are getting bigger, and pretty soon the whole thing will give way. Buh-bye, and good riddence!
If this came from the CIA then Petraeus wanted it to come out that the CIA knew it was Al Queda affiliates...in a way I feel bad for the General he will get the Paterno treatment for this where he is the blame for everything and not Sandusky
Washington has become infested with zombie careers over Benghazi. CIA, State, the military, everywhere you look, dead careers walking. They just don't know it yet and haven't fallen down. They keep staggering forward, glassy-eyed, repeating the same mindless lies. Mitt and his zombie blasters are going to be busy for months cleaning them all out.
First thought... Obama does not govern. He gives speeches. He plays golf. He parties. He can't be bothered. To find out what happened here you need to drill down through his administration or czars until you find a decision maker. I think we'd be surprised to learn how far down the totem pole it goes.
Oh, and here's one. Ask yourself: if you were THE head of the Marines, would you allow a SINGLE ONE of your men to be deployed anywhere in the middle east as a guard without ammunition in his weapon? Even if State demanded it? Both the Secratary of State and the President should wet themselves with dread at the mere thought of the response they would receive for even suggesting that you give that order.
Poster #18 is correct. Romney needs to point out to the American people a clear path of who, what, and when of what was said. Then point out that contrary to what Obozo has been telling everybody, that alQueda is NOT on the run, but rather, on the rise. And becomming more dangerous and deadly all the time.
And I wouldn't put it past him, but I get the feeling that General Petraeus himself just might be behind this "leak" about their findings so soon after the attack.
#33 In light of “Fast & Furious”, Obama’s desire to try terrorists in open Court, his campaign’s refusal to screen for or prevent illegal foreign credit card contributions, etc., that FR story, “Two SEALS Ruin October Surprise” that you provided the link to is not only plausible, it rings true.
In light of the sworn testimony that Charlene Lamb, a top State Department official, gave before Congress that she was in real-time communication with the Benghazi Consulate during the entire 5-6 hour long attack, several leaks from within the Intelligence community, and WH records showing that Obama actually attended his daily security briefings during the aftermath of the 9/11 attack, it is impossible to believe the WH’s claim that the statements by Obama and other members of his Administration for 2 weeks - that tied the attack to a protest over some months-old YouTube video - were based on the briefings they were receiving. No ring of truth whatsoever.
Last night, 0 gave the impression of someone who is torn between going out with some dignity, or lashing out like a cornered animal the way Axelrod would recommend. He did seem resigned to his fate, I thought, very melancholy.
FTA: "It is unclear who, if anyone, saw the cable outside the CIA at that point and how high up in the agency the information went."
The Chief of Station is to the Director of Central Intelligence what the Ambassador is to the President, i.e., the CIA's representative in a foreign country. So if the COS sent a cable to CIA Headquarters on something of this magnitude, it would most likely been sent as an immediate cable but quite possibly at an even even higher precedence, especially if it came in after hours. If the latter case, someone would have been called in to Langley, even in the middle of the night.
And since, according to the article, the information "reached intelligence agencies in Washington the next day", I find it incredulous that 0bama and Clinton weren't informed sooner rather than later, analysts notwithstanding. We're talking about the assassination of an Ambassador and three other diplomats on September 11. This should have kept the President (and the Secretary of State) up all night.
Bottom line, 0bama and his whole Administration are flat out lying to the American people, from Jay Carney to Susan Rice.
(Note also that FTA the briefing points refer to "extremists"; this, no doubt, due to the Administration's policy to not call them what they are, that is, terrorists.)
I hope everyone checks out #33 links, especially the last one. The heroism of the two SEALS was amazing: rescuing 20 embassy personnel and holding off 200 Al-Qaeda for hours. They WERE NOT part of the Ambassador's protection detail, but rode to the rescue like American heroes do. They could have ignored the attack, but they didn't. Why isn't that well known? The description of a SEAL funeral will break your heart.
If you hadn’t heard, there are a growing number of Democrats wanting to delay the implementation of the ObamaCare individual mandate as a result of the disastrous rollout of the health insurance exchanges. With this in mind, National Review’s Jonah Goldberg on Fox News’s Special Report Friday marvelously quipped, “I’m scandalized by these racist, anarchist, extremist, hostage-taking Democrats who want to delay ObamaCare which is the law of the land” (video follows with commentary): Indeed. If the media are going to be consistent, these Democrats looking to delay this implementation should be just as vilified and excoriated as Republicans that tried to
Thursday´s CBS Evening News poured cold water on President Obama´s now-infamous "if you like your insurance plan, you will keep it" promise. Scott Pelley noted how the President has "repeated one reassuring phrase" about the American people being able to hold onto their health insurance, and bluntly pointed out that, contrary to the Democrat´s vow, "hundreds of thousands of Americans...are being told that their health plans are being cancelled." Carter Evans also spotlighted a California woman´s nightmarish experience as a result of the passage of ObamaCare. Her self-purchased health care plan was cancelled, and as a result, she was being "forced
After Breitbart News reported on Thursday an official Department of Defense (DOD) document approved the anti-Christian Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as a trustworthy source for information on dangerous “extremist” organizations and movements, Fox News released a letter dated Oct. 18 from Secretary of the Army John M. McHugh. He begins his letter noting a string of anti-Christian presentations and says the material is “inaccurate, objectionable and otherwise inconsistent with current Army policy.” McHugh criticized SPLC for labeling Christian ministries, public-interest groups, and other conservative organizations as extremists, adding the “groups identified in the instruction were not ‘extremist’ organizations as that

The National Security Agency’s public website NSA.gov was down for several hours Friday, and a hacking group claimed credit on Twitter. There was no evidence anyone actually broke into the NSA’s network or stole any data. Rather, the NSA’s public facing Web server appeared to be overwhelmed. Hacking techniques that involve sending a large amount of useless traffic to take down websites are common, and called denial of service attack. It’s unclear exactly what happened Friday. NSA spokeswoman Vanee Vines said the agency is looking into the matter when asked if the site had been the victim of a denial of service
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will receive the National Defense University Foundation´s American Patriot Award, backed by a committee of people who could provide an oral history of Bill Clinton´s most controversial moments. There are five honorary co-chairs of the award ceremony, three of whom have close Clinton ties: Madeleine Albright, who served as Secretary of State under Bill Clinton; former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, who spent two years as Clinton´s White House chief of staff; and Vernon Jordan, who became a household name when he attempted to cover up the Monica Lewinsky scandal by getting the then-White House intern
HOUSTON, — President Obama’s legacy may include a stake in the heart of a cherished dream of the progressive left: complete government control of healthcare in America. Obama has always wanted a single-payer, government-run healthcare system, and he set out a complicated but achievable path to get to that goal through Obamacare. The eventual failure of Obamacare would set the stage for single-payer healthcare. Unfortunately for him, he designed Obamacare to fail in the wrong ways at the wrong times, making it harder, not easier to achieve his goal of completely socialized healthcare. If Obamacare dies an early and spectacular failure, it will
Leaving behind his Obamacare problems for a day, President Obama is flying to New York City Friday on Air Force One for a pair of Democratic fundraisers, combined with a stop at a Brooklyn high school that focuses on technology. Between Friday and the end of November, Mr. Obama will appear at seven fundraisers for Democratic congressional candidates as he seeks to return the House to Democratic control in 2014. At an event in Manhattan for the House Democrats’ campaign arm, Mr. Obama will attend a reception hosted by Kathryn Chenault, wife of American Express CEO Kenneth Chenault. Then he’ll attend a
President Obama on Friday sought to frame the next fiscal fight ahead of a congressional budget conference committee, downplaying GOP concerns about the deficit and pushing instead for investments he says will bolster the middle class. During a visit to Brooklyn, N.Y., Obama toured Pathways in Technology Early College High School, a public school partnership between IBM and the City University of New York, and pressed for more spending on education. Obama stressed the importance of preparing the country´s young people for careers in math and science. “This country should be doing everything in our power to give more kids the chance
Maryland state police and federal agents used a search warrant in an unrelated criminal investigation to seize the private reporting files of an award-winning former investigative journalist for The Washington Times who had exposed problems in the Homeland Security Department´s Federal Air Marshal Service. Reporter Audrey Hudson said the investigators, who included an agent for Homeland´s Coast Guard service, took her private notes and government documents that she had obtained under the Freedom of Information Act during a predawn raid of her family home on Aug. 6. The documents, some which chronicled her sources and her work at the Times about
GUANTANAMO BAY, CUBA -- Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is clearly not a Mac person. The self-proclaimed mastermind of 9/11 is requesting that he be given a “Microsoft-enabled laptop computer” for use during his trial for war crimes, which is now underway. The ideal laptop would have features such as Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, LexisNexis and Adobe Premiere video-editing software, the defense argued. Lawyers for the al Qaeda suspects argue that the detainees need a computer “to assist counsel in their own defense” as they face a military commission in what has been called the “largest criminal investigation in the history of the United
You know what´s relatively easy? Fixing a website. You know what´s really hard? Ensuring access to affordable, quality health insurance for every single American and improving our broken health care system in the process. In the back-and-forth about the Obamacare exchange websites, let´s not lose sight of the ultimate goal of health care reform -- a goal that, even with the exchanges problems, we are steadily achieving. Less than 17 days into the signup period, the State of Oregon had already enrolled 56,000 people under the Medicaid expansion in Obamacare -- and reduced the state´s percentage of uninsured by 10%. In
Sen. John McCain’s daughter says that her father is “depressed” and “frustrated” with the impact the “hyper-conservative wing of the party” is having on national politics, including on the recent government shutdown. “We’re both frustrated with the idea that only the hyper-conservative wing of the party is going to represent the masses,” Meghan McCain said in a joint interview with ABC and Yahoo News. Ms. McCain, who has her own reality show “Raising McCain,” said the last time she can remember her father was so depressed about the state of politics was after his failed 2008 presidential bid. “He is
Does President Obama belong on the same list as John Kennedy and Bill Clinton when it comes to presidents who are sex symbols? That’s what Entertainment Tonight reporter Rocsi Diaz thinks. First Lady Michelle Obama chuckled and smiled as Diaz asked her what it’s like to be married to someone who’s seen by many women as a “sex symbol,” in an interview that aired Tuesday evening. “He’s got a little swag, you know, that’s okay,” the first lady said. “I’m proud of him. He’s a stylish man who is healthy and he’s smart and he’s passionate and he’s inspiring. And
First Lady Michelle Obama’s Princeton classmate is a top executive at the company that earned the no-bid contract to build the failed Obamacare website. Toni Townes-Whitley, Princeton class of ’85, is senior vice president at CGI Federal, which earned the no-bid contract to build the $678 million Obamacare enrollment website at Healthcare.gov. CGI Federal is the U.S. arm of a Canadian company. Townes-Whitley and her Princeton classmate Michelle Obama are both members of the Association of Black Princeton Alumni.
Senate majority leader Harry Reid says that "Everybody" is "willing to pay more" taxes. He said so in an interview with a Nevada Public Radio host. “The only people who feel there shouldn’t be more coming in to the federal government from the rich people are the Republicans in the Congress,” Reid told the radio host, according to Roll Call. “Everybody else, including the rich people, are willing to pay more. They want to pay more.” Reid rebuked the Nevada Public Radio host when he was asked what Republicans would have to concede to get Medicare and Social Security cuts
The Healthcare.gov debacle has been thoroughly dissected so far by America´s best health journalists and policy analysts. To be sure, every major rollout of a new or changed social policy, including Medicare itself, is rough and takes weeks or months to resolve. (Snip) It is the larger failure of public administration that has been endemic in the Obama White House, and is probably the president´s most significant weakness. The first clues to this problem came during the transition in 2008. George W. Bush and his chief of staff, Josh Bolten, offered exemplary assistance to the incoming Obama team—but many of the
Just how bad was the shutdown for America´s image on the world stage? So bad, says Secretary of State John Kerry, that foreign officials joked about buying him meals. "I have seen how our allies, our partners and those who wish to challenge us or to do us harm are all sizing us up every day," Kerry said at an event hosted by Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank. "What we do in Washington matters deeply…that´s why a self-inflicted wound like the shutdown can never happen again." Kerry added that the shutdown delayed security aid to Israel. "The dysfunction and
Shepard Smith, the endlessly endearing (and easily angered) Fox News anchor, has likened the right-wing channel to a “family,” with president Roger Ailes as its domineering father. Which makes it only slightly awkward that in early 2012, the 49-year-old anchor started courting an attractive young production assistant who worked under him on Fox Report With Shepard Smith. Now they are a couple. Gawker has learned that Smith is dating a 26-year-old Penn State grad and Fox Business producer named Giovanni “Gio” Graziano. According to multiple sources with knowledge of their relationship, the couple met sometime after Graziano started working at Fox
It took a tea-party insurrection that disabled the federal government and wrecked the Republican brand, but after months of handwringing, establishment Republicans are preparing to attack ultraconservative ideologues across red America. Steve LaTourette of Ohio, whose new political group, Defending Main Street, aims to raise $8 million to fend off tea-party challenges against more mainstream Republican incumbents. "We´re going to be very aggressive and we´re going to get in their faces." The caterwauling over the GOP brand ramped up after President Obama´s
We´re hearing for the first time from a security officer who witnessed the terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, last year. U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed in the attack on the mission and a nearby annex. In an interview for "60 Minutes," correspondent Lara Logan spoke with a British citizen, who had been hired to train the Libyan guards at the U.S. mission. He calls himself Morgan Jones, a pseudonym to protect his safety.Jones says he was annoyed that the State Department wouldn´t allow his guards to carry guns. As the
If House lawmakers wanted a clear admission of guilt during today’s testimony from four government contractors behind the botched healthcare.gov launch, they must have been sorely disappointed. Instead, the committee hearing offered a daisy chain of blame and interconnected responsibilities—a reflection of just how convoluted the massive effort became. An official from CGI Group (GIB/A:CN), the main contractor for the Obamacare health exchanges, described 55 different subcontractors who worked on the site, which consisted of six main “complicated systems” and interacted with numerous
Marines are decrying a new look President Obama has planned for their uniforms — namely, a unisex-style cap that they say looks more French than American, more “girly” than hard-charging. “We don’t even have enough funding to buy bullets and the DoD [Department of Defense] is pushing to spend $8 million on covers that look like women’s hats,” one senior Marine said to The New York Post. “The Marines deserve better. It makes them look ridiculous.” One estimate is that the new hats could cost about $8 million. The hats are thinner and smaller, aimed at looking equally good on females as well
On the top of Thursday´s broadcast of his radio show, Sean Hannity revealed Erling Davis, the Obamacare operator he called early in his Monday show, got fired. Hannity quizzed her on how well the law is being received by applicants and she revealed no one liked it. Hannity had Davis on his show today and revealed he will give her a year´s salary of $26,000 and help her find a new job.
