| During ABC’s wrap-up of Tuesday night’s presidential debate at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., Washington Post columnist George Will proclaimed that the debate was “immeasurably the best” in American history. “[I] think there was a winner in the sense that Barack Obama not only gained ground that he lost, but he cauterized some wounds that he inflicted on himself by seeming too diffident and disengaged,” Will said. “Both men tonight, I think, tip-toed right up to the point of rudeness, but stepped back. It was a very good fight. I have seen every presidential debate in American

Comments: Video included. WARNING: Do not drink coffee while reading this BS! He states that he was impressed when the Empty Chair hit Romney with the 47%. Really, you were impressed by a coward who waited to use a totally out of context statement when he knew Romney couldn't respond. What an idiot.

If George Will has "seen every presidential debate in American history," he must be at least 160 years old. Even Obama doesn't "misspeak" in such a crazy manner.

Maybe for the great intellectuals, this was a great debate, but it was a mess in my opinion. Romney got in great points but the "moderator" and the format along with the questions were less than desirable. It might have worked if the questions were not pre-screened and the audience were able to ask questions randomly. The debate was about the moderator and her agenda and her career, plain and simple.

FTA: The president held his fire on the 47 percent until he had the last word in the debate,” Will said. “That is, he used it in his summation in a way that Mitt Romney could not explain or respond to. So, I think as a tactical measure tonight, the president did very well, indeed.”
What?!? George, you're well past your 'best by' date, it's time to retire.
(1) There was no "summation" in this debate format - Obama broke the rules on that matter. (2) The question asked was "To each of you. What do you believe is the biggest misperception that the American people have about you as a man and a candidate?"
If anything, Obama completely ignored the question and rambled on and on about things EXTERNAL to himself - in spite of the question - and then threw in the '47%' line because he knew Romney had no chance to respond to it.
George, that may be a "tactical" success in your mind, but it's also an act of cowardice.

George Will is an effete snob who has a bad case of Beltway-itis. This debate was interesting but hardly one of the best ever. I think Reagan's debate with Carter where he said, there you go again, was probably the best. I don't remember if it was the same one where Carter said he asked his daughter Amy for advice. That (or those) debate was a real game-changer. This one wasn't.

As I have previously stated in this forum, George Will, Peggy Noonan and others of the 'old guard' are no longer relevant to the new conservative movement under the Tea Party. Folk of their ilk do not understand us. They are limousine republicans of the Rockefeller mold, too used to being invited to the right parties and as panelists on the right shows.
Who reads or watches them, other then lap dog liberals who nod their heads when Will etc. come on. It just confirms the watchers of the MSM of their own convictions.

Weird comments here. Will is entitled to his opinion, and according to the insta-polls after the debate his view is shared by quite a few.
The 47% remark coming at the end was a little odd, but Romney had already anticipated it and gave his response before -0- launched. 0-bama did play the pansy and usually delivered his kidney punches from behind after the segment time was up – leaving no chance for a response. That allowed him to get in his licks, but also made him look petty, striking only from the cover of the moderator's, uh...skirts.

Indeed Will is entitled to his opinion but to be taken seriously one needs to be grounded in reality. "Immeasurably the best" debate in American history? Really?? Wow. Obviously, Will has never read any of the debates involving Henry Clay, John Calhoun, Daniel Webster, Stephen Douglas, Abe Lincoln or W.Jennings Bryan. Prime facie, Will's assertion is beyond absurd.

Whether Mitt Romney becomes the 45th president or not, Politico's Jonathan Martin insists that the Republican Party is on the verge of a looming crisis. Sticking with the same overgeneralized racist narrative, it is basically a 'fact' at this point that the GOP's conservative ideology and a lack of diversity will ultimately lead to its downfall. Conversely, the Democratic Party is poised to dominate in future elections. Nevermind that we heard this before in 2006 and 2008, with Clinton acolyte James Carville forecasted 40 years in the wilderness for the GOP. No, Martin insists that demography is destiny,

President Obama’s big rally tonight turned out to be just like his first, opening salvo of the 2012 campaign: a half-empty arena in Ohio. According toRealClearPolitics’ Scott Conroy, there were “empty seats scattered around the upper-level of Nationwide Arena … Four years ago, after all, Obama was easily filling venues larger than that …” The event even featured Bruce Springsteen and Jay-Z, and Obama still couldn’t fill it out. As it turns out, the empty seats didn’t look exactly “scattered.” They looked like substantial portions of the upper bowl of the arena, according to photos tweeted by those in attendance:

Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday struggled to draw 1,000 people at two campaign events in Colorado, one of the most important swing states this election. Republicans in Colorado have said they have not seen this much enthusiasm for the top of a Republican ticket in a decade, which is a contrast from Democrats, who are seeing a diminished level of enthusiasm from 2008. At an event in Englewood, Colorado, Biden's crowd "fell just short of a thousand people"--while an event with Romney drew 18,000--and another Biden event drew 1,200 in Pueblo, Colorado.

Today, speaking in Concord, New Hampshire, trying to look bipartisan, Barack Obama made this incredible statement: “As long as I’m president, I’ll work with anybody.” He can’t be serious. For a start, let’s take a look at immigration reform. In June of this year, Sen. John McCain, who has always championed bipartisanship, said bitterly: “This idea that this president or his people reached out to me is patently false. To somehow allege that I didn’t somehow respond to their overtures, that’s patently false. That’s their narrative, and I understand their narrative, but it’s not substantiated by the facts.”

The Illinois Republican party claims early and absentee voting has precipitously fallen since the 2008 presidential election. According to the numbers, at this point in 2008, there were 260,376 early voters and 304,290 absentee voters. Now, the party maintains, there are 195,064 early voters and 46,232 absentee voters. That's a loss of 57 percent of voters, since the last election. This, the Illinois Republican party says, is a terrible sign for Democrats. "Chicago is the heart and soul of the Democratic Party," says Illinois Republican party chair Pat Brady. "You can't get much more solid blue than Chicago

Add Washington Post George Will to the landslide column along with Fox News Channel’s Dick Morris and the Washington Examiner’s Michael Barone. On this weekend’s broadcast of “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” on ABC, Will revealed his prediction and added a bonus surprise by saying traditional Democratic state Minnesota would go for Romney as well. “I’m projecting Minnesota to go for Romney,” Will said. “It’s the only state that’s voted democratic in nine consecutive elections, but this year, there’s marriage amendment on the ballot that will bring out the evangelicals and I think could make the difference.”

David Axelrod, a senior adviser to President Barack Obama's reelection campaign, dismissed on Sunday the notion that Mitt Romney is making Pennsylvania competitive as the GOP presidential nominee heads there later in the day. "They understand that they're in deep trouble," Axelrod said on "Fox News Sunday." "They've tried to expand the map because they know in states like Ohio… they're behind and they're not catching up at this point." Axelrod argued that Romney's trips to Florida and Virginia are signs that they haven't locked up states where the Republican should be performing well.

They´re starting to grow out, get a little irritating.´ Still, she hasn´t let her hairdo woes get her down. ´It´s okay,´ she said after her initial complaint. ´We´ll be good.´ The first indication that her hairstyle was becoming a burden came about last weekend, when Malia, 14, was spotted adjusting her mother´s hair during the White House Easter Egg Roll.

Recent research indicates that the number of people who do not consider themselves a part of an organized religion is steadily on the rise. Interestingly enough, though the number of those religiously unaffiliated is increasing, there is little to no trend in the number of those who express atheist or agnostic beliefs. People aren’t saying they don’t believe in God. They’re saying they don’t believe in religion. They are not rejecting Christ. They are rejecting the church. This begs the question, “Why are we losing our religion?”

Put out an all-points bulletin: Millions of Americans have gone missing from the workforce. Every month that those would-be workers are gone raises the odds that they might never come back, dimming the prospects for future economic growth. The vanishing trend is more than a decade old, but it accelerated during the Great Recession. Throughout 2012, economists held out hope that it had stopped. But then came Friday’s jobs report, and hopes were dashed. The Labor Department reported that the U.S. labor force — everyone who has a job or is looking for one — shrank

Gluten-free diets are all the rage, but they can be dangerous if not done right. What is gluten? It´s the spongy complex of proteins, found naturally in wheat, rye, and barley, that gives elasticity to dough and allows it to rise. When flour is moistened and either kneaded or mixed into dough, gluten molecules form an elastic, microscopic latticework that traps the carbon dioxide produced when yeast ferments, causing dough to inflate like a hot air balloon. Baking hardens the gluten, which helps the finished product keep its shape. Wheat — and gluten — is ubiquitous in the American diet.
