| The beginning of congressional hearings on the Benghazi debacle revealed an administration with much to explain and perhaps something to hide. At a minimum, the State Department did not take adequate precautions in reaction to mounting threats after urgent requests by officials on the ground. This was a failure of judgment. It was followed by a failure of candor.(Snip) It is impossible for me to imagine U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice or Secretary of State Hillary Clinton freelancing the false claim that the Benghazi attack was the spontaneous response to a YouTube video instead of being a terrorist attack.
|
Comments: Gerson goes on to say that this is a symptom of an administration that resorts to artifice rather than talk about the growing danger from the global jihad.

The narrative is going to be even more inconvenient when one of our airliners is taken down with a stinger missile we supplied to Libyan rebels. We are inviting attack and it will come on our soil.

Obama's reaction to Benghazi is symptomatic of his failed approach to all of foreign policy.

Four government motors Chevy Volts to the US Paris Embassy and nothing for Benghazi. These are the same Administration morons who sent 2,000 guns to Mexico. It seems the Mexican drug lords needed protection, but the four Americans in Benghazi weren't worth their effort. I think that covers the situation adequately.

1935 to 1939, Great Britain, Prime Ministers Stanley Baldwin and Neville Chamberlain resolutely determined to give Hitler everything he desired so as to avoid a war. A British electorate that agreed with them, despite the persistent warnings of Winston Churchill. Does anyone in 2012 America remember what happened?
2012, America, Barack Obama and Joe Biden (and the Clintons), resolutely determined to ignore Islamic terrorists and Persian lunatics so as to continue their reign of misgovernment, redistribution of other people's wealth, and racist domination. Half of the American electorate agrees with them, despite overwhelming evidence of their traitorous and incompetent record.
The Farsi and Chinese historians who may dominate published histories 50 years hence will likely marvel at how clear the choice was in 2012 in America, and how so many twice-fooled voters in that lost land made their suicidal decisions.

But, but, that military detachment wasn't needed in Benghazi. That dumb State Dept employee said so in the hearing. It turns out that detachment was needed for displomatic enhancement in Barbados. In fact, on the second day that detachment was there, they participating in some youth athletic event. THAT was what was important to the State Department.

The connecting arc between Osama and Obama can no longer be ignored. It's not just the superficial similarity in their names, it's the substantial similarity in their apparent common goal...the diminution of America and the establishment of a worldwide Islamic caliphate.
Osama sought to accomplish this with terrorist action. Obama is accomplishing it with cunning inaction. Look around the world. Is there any place where radical Islam is virulently on the move and where Obama has sought to stop it? No, quite the contrary. Whether it's Iran, Egypt, Syria, Libya or any of the African despotic states, Obama has not only not acted to stop Islamic takeovers, he has overtly and cleverly facilitated them.
It can even be said that Obama has been more effective in creating the worldwide Islamic caliphate than has Osama. Who can deny that?

Keeping Americans safe is the one thing Americans agree on. For a few days Americans came together in the aftermath of 9/11/2001. A tape of bin Laden helped Dubya win reelection in 2004 because we trust Republicans more than Democrats to keep us safe. This terrorist attack, preceded by pleas for additional security, is the nail in Obama's coffin as it demonstrates he has not taken his sacred job of keeping us safe seriously.

Obama wants to be able to tout his promises to pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan. History will show that the timing motivated on his own political needs was pure foolishness. The motivation should be ONLY based on whether or not the situation there is/was stable. The bottom line is he pulled out too soon.

Gerson repeats the claim that Obama dare not react to these attacks for fear of erroding his base. It seems to me that only a handful of leftists are guided by principle, so he won't lose many if he initiates military action. More than likely, they're running down the clock, waiting until the two-minute warning before the election. They have to time the dog- wagging precisely to the point where details are sketchy and critical analysis of their actions isn't possible during the short period before the election. They saw how quickly George H. Bush's popularity surge disappeared after Desert Storm. Obama needs the surge, but can't risk the inevitable fall. I'm guessing we'll see a move around November 3rd or 4th.

The American that did the YouTube video "Innocence of Muslims" is in Federal prison in Los Angeles (at serious risk because of the Muslims imprisoned there). The Pakistani doctor that obtained DNA proof of Osama's location was outed by Obama and is in Pakistani prison. 14 days after the al-Quaeda attack Barack Hussein Obama insisted on the video multiple times in front of the UN General Assembly. Singer Beyonce and Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter traveled to Cuba “pursuant to an educational exchange trip” organized by an authorized company, the U.S. Treasury Department said in response to inquiries from Florida lawmakers. The trip by the celebrity couple spurred widespread media coverage after two U.S. representatives from Florida, Republicans Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart, asked the Treasury who approved the travel and for what purpose. U.S. law prohibits financial transactions for tourist activities in Cuba to prevent funding of the government, which controls the industry. The Treasury permits visits for educational reasons.

Now anti-gunners in the U.S. Congress, the Obama administration, and legislatures across the country are seeking to exploit the Newtown tragedy to promote their “gun control” agenda that envisions federal, universal background checks on gun purchases, and that could lead to gun registration and confiscation.
