Hey, William Cohan - where was your curiosity when Barack Obama started running for president 5 years ago About how the leader of the choom gang got into Occidental, then supposedly excelled at Columbia and Harvard. Where'd the money come from? How'd he do? Where are his published papers? Who knew him? Who did he hang out with? What and who were his influences?

Articles like this one don't really bother me much on substance. After all, we have been asking the media to vet President Obama for five years now. The fact that the author goes over Mitt's finances with a louse comb is actually fine with me. The problem arises though, in the conclusion.

He makes the case that Mitt probably has more money than indicated and perhaps a lot more money than we suspect. If he does, we can't have a billionaire running for prez, it just won't do. On the other hand, if he isn't a billionaire, well he darn well ought to be and what is wrong with him as a businessman? He must be a failure instead of the steady hand he purports to be. All you really need to know about the two men is how much each man gives of their time, resources, and money, to charity or in the service of other people. Voting for people who will take money from others to be used as charity, doesn't count.

That "wealthiest people" meme of O&Co's just doesn't hold up when we think about the hierarchy in the Senate.

If you were to ask Romney today what he was worth, he probably could not honestly tell you what he is really worth. But what is the difference if he is worth $250 or $500 million, as by all legitimate accounts he earned it, paid the taxes that he was required to pay on his earnings, and then again and again on his capital gains, so he can do what he wants with his money as that is the American way.

When Romney was governor of Massachusetts he did not accept a salary, and when he is elected USA President he probably won't accept that salary either.
