A career criminal who stole a truck containing President Obama´s audio equipment was sentenced Thursday to seven years in federal prison. Sentencing guidelines called for a term of about three years, but Eric Brown of Richmond, Va., agreed to the longer sentence to avoid prosecution for 14 similar truck thefts in three localities. President Barack Obama’s advocacy organization Organizing for Action (OFA) raised over $4.8 million from first-quarter donors, including the chairman of a major lobbying firm, wealthy progressives affiliated with the secretive Democracy Alliance, and a member of popular 1990s hip-hop group the Fugees, according to a list of first quarter contributors released by the group today. MOSCOW – Russia slapped sanctions on a pair of former top Bush administration officials, two former commanders of the Guantanamo detention center, and 14 other Americans in retaliation for a set of human rights sanctions the Obama administration imposed on a number of Russian citizens on Friday. In a statement, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said it was forced to respond to the American “blackmail,” which it warned would harm US-Russia relations. Pro golfers, golf writers, and TV commentators are up in arms that Tiger Woods was only given a 2-stroke penalty for his illegal drop on the 15th hole yesterday. Tiger said last night that he dropped his ball two yards behind his previous spot, clearly violating the rule that you must drop "as nearly as possible" to your original spot. Golf people are not happy about it. They say that the new rule is B.S. (or it´s at least being misinterpreted), and Tiger should DQ himself to save the integrity of the game.

In the 2014 budget he announced last week, Obama proposed a more accurate way of calculating the inflation rate for annual cost-of-living increases in Social Security. It’s a technical change in pursuit of honesty and good government. And if adopted, it would cause benefits to grow more slowly, though almost imperceptibly so. Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.
