Obama’s Old Friends React to the Debate

| When Barack Obama was a student at Harvard Law School, he was never known as a particularly good debater. In class, if he thought that a fellow student had said something foolish, he showed no forensic bloodlust. He did not go out of his way to defeat someone in argument; instead he tried, always with a certain decorous courtesy, to try to persuade, to reframe his interlocutor’s view, to signal his understanding while disagreeing. Obama became president of the law review—the first African-American to do so

Yes, and when asked, friends of the Captain of the Titanic stated that the ship didn't just smash into the iceberg and doom it's riders. Instead, the ship was professorial and attempted to be inclusive to the pressure of the iceberg as it pressed into the side of the ship, neatly tearing a gigantic hole which then thoughtfully shared the air space both within and without the hull of the ship.

Ask Representative Paul Ryan and Supreme Court Justices about the polite man who reached out to work across the divide of philosophical differences.
I bet they would have a different opinion of him...especially the liberal justices who received the very rude "shout-out" from the Pres the State of the Union.
This article needs a barf-alert and a big Baloney!

Unfinbelievable! He got to be editor of the review because of affirmative action. He is not a conciliator, he is a gutless liar. If it wasn't for his syncophants he would be collecting garbage like his brother in the campaign ad.

He uses the campaign as an educative process. He wants to win but also wants to be clear about his ideas…." To borrow a British term, I am completely Gobsmacked! "He showed no forensic bloodlust". Do a search on his debate as State Senator when he was arguing against medical treatment for botched abortion babies born alive. "The baby or fetus, whatever you want to call it doesn't come out limp and cold".. There is an audio of him..listen, then send it to your friends.

The anticipated resuscitation has begun. In this charming display of CPR we learn that the reason Obama lost is that he is too substantive, has such a high regard for the truth, and is repulsed by the ugly aggression of political campaigning.
This remarkable fantasy might stand at least a glimmer of a chance of persuading if we did not have the spectacle of Obama demagoguing before friendly audiences to test it against. As it turns out, Obama is a magnificent debater - when he is attacking Straw Men and when there is no opponent present to challenge him. Nor are his supposed politeness and reverence for the truth on display in his solo performances. He manages to misrepresent, distort, deceive, denigrate and defame with the best of them. He is an artist at character assassination as per Alinsky - again, as long as there is no adversary present to contradict him. He is actually a kind of rhetorical bully when he is picking upon an absent opponent. He romps and stomps and shouts and howls and walks all over his adversary - as long as the latter is not there to defend himself.
Entiae non sunt multiplicanda praeter necessitatem = keep it simple, stupid.
The dude is a dishonest dope. That's all there is to it. There is no more. Intricate and subtle hypotheses are not require to save the appearances. He performed precisely as a dishonest dope would be expected to perform under the circumstances of the debate.

Sigh. More liberal Obamabot spin. Obama got crushed. Plain and simple. This is true on both style and substance. Polls after the debate said people, by more than 3 to 1, thought Romney won. I'll give this writer credit. At least he didn't try to peddle the latest liberal meme. That is, Romney had a "cheat sheet" on his handkerchief and that every time he wiped his nose he looked at his notes.

I do recall his mastery at out-debating the smartest woman in the world, Hillary. His debating ability must stem from that one storyline in the eyes of so many sheep in this nation. The only problem with this theory is that She is the worst candidate ever to stand on a stage-bar none. And He needed a teleprompter to do something as simple as that

Obama was expecting the fawning debate treatment he got in 2008 (remember the SNL skit, where the CNN folks were asking Obama if he was comfortable, wanted a glass of water, etc.).
Obama's idea of fairness is where he gets to bring a gun to a knife fight.
Life's a ....

If Barack skews cerebral, so does pee wee herman. A law school graduate should be able to think on his feet, rebut opponents' arguments, and be as tough as necessary. (Any fellow l dotters who live in pennsylvania, go to the PCN channel, where the appellate court cases are shown. You will see that every attorney arguing before the coourts has the necessary skills unknown to barack. Law schools require moot court as a required course. I doubt very much if barack took that course.

Obama was President of Harvard Law Review, and was not an editor. It takes scholarship to be an editor, but apparently he was elected president by law review memers, because he was seen as a conciliator. Half the members were lefties and half righties. Choom guy helped bring a divisive membership together, or something. I heard this back in 2004 in Boston, when he had come to prominence after the D convention there. A colleague told me that he had heard about Obama as presidential material way back in the HLS days.

Let's see-he studied law, but can't argue aggressively and eschewed moot court competition, he was president of the law review, and apparently did not write a single thing during his tenure, yet argument and persuasive writing are key attributes of a good lawyer. There is a old saying that those who can't do teach. Perhaps that is why Obama seems more suited as a lecturer (not professor) at a law school as opposed to one required to think and act on his feet without aids such as teleprompters.

We need to make sure we don't get too far ahead of ourselves. He is an empty suit but anyone who thinks that was the real Obama forgets the 1st Bush/Kerry debate (It's hard work). IMHO Obama realized early on that he was woefully unprepared and just decided to cover-up like a boxer until next round. That was why he didn't use his best stuff (the 47%, Bain, etc.) He knew Romney was ready to respond to it and he wasn't to defend it so he didn't want to waste it.

There is no deviation from the Party line allowed, and they all must do their part to reinforce the fantasy, when asked, and give a politically correct answer. When it first became clear that the CIA’s Benghazi talking points had been altered, many of us viewed the White House as the prime suspect. After all, it served President Obama’s political purposes to claim, at the height of a political campaign in which he was taking credit for the fall of al Qaeda, that the death of a U.S. ambassador was down to spontaneous outrage over a video, rather than pre-planned terrorism. It turns out, however, that the State Department was the prime culprit. It was State that pushed back hard against the original talking points.

Republican lawmakers, who have spent months seeking to tie President Obama to last year’s deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, are increasingly focusing their probe on a new target: former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton. The GOP-led investigation of the Sept. 11, 2012, assaults that killed U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three others now centers heavily on the State Department and whether officials there deliberately misled the public about the nature of the assault. Three State Department officials are scheduled to testify before a House committee on Wednesday about the Benghazi attack and its aftermath.

Mayor Mike McGinn is expected to announce Tuesday that they´ll be melted into bricks carrying messages of peace, and the bricks will be placed around the city. The buyback program was announced a month after last December´s elementary school massacre in Newtown, Conn., by city leaders sick of hearing about gun violence. Sanford defeated Colbert Busch 54 percent to 45 percent, according to full unofficial results. Turnout was heavier than expected, with about 32 percent of the district’s 455,702 registered voters casting ballots. Sanford, who has never lost an election, returns to the 1st District seat he held for three terms from 1995-2001. It’s a remarkable comeback for a man many pundits had written off after his highly publicized affair with an Argentine

There was tragic incompetence, plainly, in the Obama administration’s handling of the Benghazi attacks, and even possibly some political calculation. It is a record that may well come to haunt Hillary Clinton, the first Secretary of State to lose an ambassador in the field in more than three decades, if she runs for president in 2016. But the obvious Republican effort to turn this inquiry into the Democratic (Obama) version of the Iraq intelligence scandal that has tarred the GOP since the George W. Bush years -- led by that least-credible of champions, the almost-always-wrong Darrell Issa --

Mark Sanford has won the South Carolina special election in a competitive race for what in normal circumstances is a safe Republican seat. The former governor beat Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the sister of comedian Stephen Colbert Busch, for the state’s 1st congressional district. The AP called the race for Sanford early in the evening, with the Republican leading Colbert Busch 54 percent 46 percent.
