Flaming Tweet: Jack Welch

Bloomberg Business Week, by Tim Catts

Former General Electric Co. (GE) Chief Executive Officer Jack Welch accused the Obama administration on Twitter of manipulating today’s employment data for political advantage. “Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can’t debate so change numbers,” Welch, 76, wrote in a message posted immediately after the U.S. Labor Department reported that the economy added 114,000 jobs last month. That pushed the unemployment rate to 7.8 percent, the lowest since President Barack Obama took office in January 2009. Welch’s Twitter message went viral on the social-media site, as political commentators

These number are fishy 114,000 jobs added lowers the unemployment rate by .3%? that's every 38,000 jobs lowers the rate by .1%?
That would me that 2.1 million jobs would give us an rate of 0%.
Maybe my math is in error.

Great opportunity for Romney.

Obama is bragging about the increase in part-time workers, seasonal workers as progress forward.
Are you happy with a president who's happy with a bunch of part-time jobs being created?

We need full-time jobs. We can create them in the coal industry, the oil industry, the natural gasoline industry, the construction industry, the steel making industry and many more but the Obama administration is doing all they can to prevent creation of those jobs.

We have abundant energy resources. This is our advantage in a global marketplace. We need to take advantage of that which will help lower energy costs for all of us, and help businesses compete by lowering their costs.
We can, and will, do it safe and responsibly.

U-6 didn't change last month. More bls bs, and for some reason government hiring went on a binge, because we all know how much spare money they have to spend.

Additional info on #6. The telephone survey includes a question as to whether you worked for free on a family farm or in a family business. If you are unemployed and help out on your dad's farm or your neighbor's farm during September's harvest then you are counted as finding work even though you are still unemployed.

(I pressed 2) Next question: "Do you consider your support for Barack Obama very strong, press 1, strong, press 2, weak, press 3, or very weak, press 4." (At this point I hung up)

The context for this little chestnut of racial nastiness was a heated floor debate in the Illinois legislature over a proposed education reform bill. The fireworks started when Democratic Representative Linda Chapa LaVia, who is Hispanic, delivered a speech criticizing charter schools. Ms. Chapa LaVia was no doubt casting aspersions on behalf of teachers unions — who’ve contributed heavily to her campaigns, are bankrupting the state, and don’t much care for competition. How does the Republican Party establishment choose its presidential candidate? Typically, constitutionalists accuse their establishment rivals of being moderate, risk-averse, stubborn old fools who lack faith in conservative principles. This is a soothing interpretation, as it begins from the hypothesis that the contest between conservatives and the GOP elite is a family feud. But there is another hypothesis -- less soothing, but, at least from an outsider´s bird´s-eye view, more reconcilable with the facts. This hypothesis is that America has reached a stage of progressive soft despotism in which the only important family feud in national politics is between the fundamentally

Given the crush of traffic on Healthcare.gov in late March, many more people could have signed up over those last three days than were captured by these numbers. On the other hand, the White House was claiming six million sign-ups as of March 27. There’s no way to reconcile that with RAND’s data. One of them is wrong. Maybe both, in fact.
