| The president’s sycophants have seized on an excuse for why their candidate was stammering and incoherent last night: Barack Obama is just too darn “professorial.” The Huffington Post lamented Obama’s “professorial demeanor.” A New York Times editorial bemoaned the fact that the president chose to be “polite and professorial.” Reuters, in an ostensibly objective write-up of the debate, said that Obama sounded "professorial." Perhaps, like the old joke about a stupid person’s idea of what a smart person sounds like, Obama sounds like a “professor” to philistine journalists. It is really hilarious/pathetic to try to excuse Obama's lousy performance on the grounds that he's a professor. There are so many things w4rong with that argument that it's hard to know where to begin listing them.
But let me just say that, no matter how you feel about Professor Newt Gingrich, he usually manages to say what he has to say with dazzling clarity.

I have an adjunct faculty position with a leading US university. My title is professorial lecturer. If I had such a complete lack of knowledge of my material as Obama, and could not even frame a cogent debate in my field of study, my department chair would be asking for the keys to the faculty lounge, and I would never set foot in a classroom again.

I had a Latin teacher in high school who would stammer and pause like Obama...but he was 67 years old and trying his best. Obama is just not very bright. But the luckiest/dirtiest politician ever. The MSM is trying to salvage his performance, but if he messes up again...they will run for the hills. Should be a fun month. Oh, and my "urban" school kids...totally depressed about his performance...kids can't lie like Stephanopoulis.

Henry Kissinger was quoted, many years ago, to have said that the nastiest battles he engaged in were not in the foreign policy area as secretary of state/national security advisor (he held the two jobs simultaneously) but during faculty meetings.
And he said the battles were most intense and nasty when there were insignificant issues to be discussed.
Barack is not professorial. I am. And I always took pride in being direct, clear, and terse. Barack is none of those things.
He is, however, entitled.

Oh #5, I think fellow L-dotters #6 and #8 would disagree, as would I also. I have taught (on the side) as a high school coach, as a law school adjunct, and as a judge to my fellow judges and also to lawyers. Forgive my hubris, but I don't think of myself as a default position: I work hard when I teach -- very hard -- but I enjoy it and I think the recipients of my efforts are grateful for them.

Obama was given (and I mean given) the opportunity to teach at the Law School of the University of Chicago. Some real Law Professors there objected on the grounds that Obama had written no scholarly papers. The Real Professors were told not to worry - Obama was there merely there to fatten his political resume. Thus we know he was Never a Real Professor nor even a real Senior Lecturer. Of course if he wanted to give a talk about Saul Alinsky tactics he might be able to talk coherently for 10 minutes.

How many federal agencies does it take to do catfish safety inspections? At least three, according to the Government Accountability Office, which on Tuesday released its 2013 report on fragmentation and duplication of federal programs. This year´s report -- there were two previous editions of the report first requested by Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. -- documents an estimated $95 billion in duplicative programs that waste precious tax dollars.
