John Sununu, a co-chairman of Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, on Tuesday dismissed a new poll showing President Obama up by 15 points in the Granite State as "a piece of garbage" and predicted Mr. Romney ultimately would win the state by 2 to 3 points. "Let me just test your political wisdom," Mr. Sununu said to host Chuck Todd on MSNBC's "The Daily Rundown." "Do you think it's possible for that to be right? No, you know it's a piece of garbage."

FTA: Frank Newport of Gallup, have said that the focus on party identification in polls that include a higher sample size of Democrats than Republicans is a misnomer in evaluating a poll's results.
Really? Well let have just one poll where the sampling is 36% R, 29% D and 35 I and let see what the resits are??

Do you people remember the exit polling consortium in 004? And how the numbers were wildly inaccurate? I believe the intent then was to discourage those who had not voted yet, that President Bush was toast, didn't have a chance.
Something like that may be going on this year, especially with that RCP average, which means nothing, but is used by alot of tv folks. It only takes one really inaccurate poll to skew the numbers for barack.

Judging by the amount of signs and bumper stickers I see in the southern (and most liberal) part of the state, Romney is way ahead. Plus there is the fact that the Republicans wiped the floor with the dems in the 2010 local elections. I think Sununu's right. NH will go for Romney.

WASHINGTON—With the White House trying to keep pressure on Congress to pass gun control legislation, President Obama has asked the mother of a 6-year-old victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy to deliver his weekly radio address. Francine Wheeler, whose son Ben was among the 26 victims of the Connecticut school shooting, will deliver the radio address, said White House spokesman Jay Carney. "Nobody has a more important and powerful perspective on the issue than the families who have lost loved ones," Carney said.

LOS ANGELES — Comedian Jonathan Winters, whose breakneck improvisations inspired Robin Williams, Jim Carrey and many others, has died at age 87. Longtime family friend Joe Petro III says Winters died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes. Winters was a master of improvisational comedy, with a grab bag of eccentric personalities and facial expressions. Characters such as the dirty old lady Maude Frickert were based on people Winters knew growing up in Ohio. NEWARK — A young Newark man who allegedly robbed former Newark Mayor Sharpe James of a gold chain Thursday was arrested and charged early this morning, police said. Alhafeez Williams, 20, was arrested and charged with robbery at about 2 a.m. by Newark police, after he had been apprehended at a PATH station in New York, Newark police said.(snip) James was Newark´s mayor from 1986 to 2006. He also held a state senate seat from 1999 to 2008. In April 2008, he was convicted of five counts of fraud by a federal jury and was sentenced to 27 months in prison.

PHOENIX — Authorities say law officers in Arizona have intercepted an explosive device that was earmarked for Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. The Maricopa County Sheriff´s Office said late Thursday night that the device was contained in a package addressed to the sheriff at his downtown Phoenix office. The sheriff´s office says Flagstaff, Ariz., police reported that the package appeared suspicious so it was x-rayed and the device detected. A bomb squad team neutralized the explosive. An April 11 picture from North Korea (DPRK) shows female soldiers patrolling along the Yalu River in 4-inch platform heels. Given that DRPK leader Kim Jong-un has South Korea, Japan, and the U.S. on high alert amid hints of a ballistic missile test and threats of nuclear war, this is a strange sight. Usually the bizarre images coming out of the Hermit Kingdom come from propaganda videos, but sometimes we get shots like this and the one showing Kim´s logitech mouse.

WASHINGTON — Attorney General Eric Holder, the nation´s chief law enforcement officer, returned to the courthouse where he once served as a judge, this time in the role of prospective juror performing his civic duty. The Justice Department said Holder wasn´t chosen and that he won´t be called back. Had he been selected for the jury Tuesday, the attorney general would have been on a panel hearing an armed robbery case. Holder sat in the last row of Judge Stuart Nash´s courtroom along with other prospective jurors as the judge gave details of the case.

Only one of my six children has left New York for economic reasons but the strain of living in this expensive nanny state is weighing heavy on my other five and their families. As a native New Yorker, I´ve seen its middle class population decline over the years due to its neglect of blue collar families which is ironic since this is a Democrat city. With the recent arrests of several local politicians for corruption perhaps New Yorkers will pay more attention to those they put in office. Given their past indifference in local elections this is highly unlikely.

The Ohio native died Thursday evening at his Montecito, Calif., home of natural causes, said Joe Petro III, a longtime family friend.
