WASHINGTON — Handing President Obama a hard-fought victory, the House narrowly approved a sweeping overhaul of the nation’s health care system on Saturday, advancing legislation that the Democrats said could be their defining social policy achievement. After a daylong clash with Republicans over what has been a Democratic goal for decades, lawmakers voted 220 to 215 to approve a plan that would cost $1.1 trillion

Rep. Anh Cao of LA needs to be tossed overboard. The Republican leadership needs to make him/her very uncomfortable in his/her shoes.

Nancy can now receive government plastic surgery to remove her permanent smile.

After a day long clash with republicans? The NY Times falls in line setting up a fake enemy, ie the republicans. The repubs can't stop anything.

Estimated cost 1.1 trillion? Yeah, right! Assuming this passes the Senate; America today became the world's largest welfare state. As far as I’m concerned, Nancy Pelosi is a criminal for ramming through 2000 pages of tyranny. This was written behind closed doors and passed without any real debate. This was their mandate? My shorts!

The 1 lone republican was bought off!!! here he is in his own words....

"Cao said: “Today, I obtained a commitment from President Obama that he and I will work together to address the critical health care issues of Louisiana including the FMAP crisis and community disaster loan forgiveness, as well as issues related to Charity and Methodist Hospitals. And, I call on my constituents to support me as I work with him on these issues.

Someone please buy that maggot brain from Louisiana a copy of Liberty and Tyranny so he can understand the reason his parents fled that Communistic hell hole from wince he came. What kind of "Republican" votes for government takeover of health care? Health care is the only sector of the economy that is actually expanding. A nanny state of 300 million people that is already 56 trillion in the hole simply CANNOT afford this kind of massive government expansion.

Nothing more to be said other than it's high time to turn the bas***** out at the first opportunity. Pardon the sentiments, but these socialists have thrown down the gauntlet and we voters are for sure going to pick that gauntlet up and smack 'em with it on election day.

Did the GOP force a reading of the bill?. nope, they just hid in the corner and played the role of victim...... spineless

Cao is the RINO who surprisingly won the seat formerly held by William "the Freezer" Jefferson. His is a solidly demonrat district, and his House career is probably on life support anyways. Consider his vote one of selfish, desperate self-preservation, not one having anything to do with principles.

We need to start pressuring moderate Democrat Senators, like Kent Conrad and Ben Nelson immediately: burn their fax machines 24/7, e-mail daily, phone if you can get through (good luck with that!) and generally make their life miserable. Those Dems that are in solid red states should start sweating. The elections Tuesday in Virginia and NJ should be their wake-up call.

On a 220-to-215 vote the House proposes to effectively seize 1/6 of the US economy and ruin our excellent healthcare system -- for no good reason.

If the Senate passes this monstrosity, civil unrest is a distinct possibility. Americans are very angry about this, and we don't take kindly to being pushed around. Anyone who voted for this bill is in for a lot of abuse from constituents.

There is going to be hell for the Democrats to pay for this. I will never forget or forgive this outrage as long as I draw breath.

A letter I just sent to my local congresswoman, Susan Davis, a Democrat:

Congresswoman Davis,

I want to register my strenuous objection to your vote for the health care monstrosity that passed the House -- a bill that most Americans do not support. Exactly whom does the House of Representatives claim to represent?

Were you listening to your constituents at the town hall meeting in Lemon Grove [California] in August? Your utterly despicable comparison of American health care to Cuban health care with respect to infant mortality was particularly mendacious, and spoke volumes about your bona fides.

You have completely lost my respect, and I hope that you and your fellow members of the Democrat Party pay a heavy political price in 2010 and beyond for your perfidy in this crucial matter that affects the life and death of all Americans.

Most of us can function pretty well with a dull, thud ache of a pain. We barely acknowledge it, maybe take an asparin, and go on about our business. Well, that ache just ratcheted up to full blown screaming doubled over arse-kicking HURT.We either curl up and cry or we go looking for a cure. Grass root thinking - every conservative who owns a business should shut their doors for one, maybe two days just ahead of the Senate vote. Yeah, it'll cost you, but not NEAR as much as this bill is going to. No sick day, no vaca pay. Doors locked. Might help to explain to the workers. Maybe not. If you own the business they already think you have all the money you need anyway. But if small businesses could organize to make a point of this, it MIGHT make an impact. Gotta do SOMEthing, even if it's wrong.

Dissolution of the Union is fast approaching. Dissolution wont come to bloodshed like it did in the 1860's. Not only do the "blue" states not have the intestinal fortitude to fight for the preservation of the union, frankly, they feel that they would be better off without the "red" states. Further, The US has a history of endorsing "self determination" and would look pretty bad trying to force break away states back into the Union.

It might be time for a few state legislatures to make the threat.

What's really aggravating is how the MSM presents this as some sort of harmless, fluff,Utopian plan that won't cost much, add to the deficit or throw anybody in jail for not paying up.This thing is nothing but part of a wealth redistribution scheme.
You know they have to be cooking something up to bribe Lieberman,Dorgan,Nelson and Lincoln to back this thing. The problem is Snowe and Collins might buckle also.

Cao is an irrelevancy. The only bad thing is that now Obama will spin it as a 'bipartisan' win.

Watch for Cao to switch to Democrat by Christmas, as Republicans start to call for his head. And of the course the Dems will respond with the loving charity for which they are known, and kick him out in next year's primary.

Dems who switch to Reps fare a lot better, I think. Ben Nighthorse Campbell and Richard Shelby spring to mind.

How did the worst quarterback in Redskin history vote?

By affectively giving the American people - and more importantly, freedom loving Patriots the finger, the Democrats in the House have just begun a bare knuckle fight with the American people.

We will not submit. And we will not surrender. I guarantee the passage of this bill in the Houst last night will bring a tsunami change to a Congress that has willfully turned against the wishes of those who it represents.

Mark my word. The backlash against this bill will be unlike anything you've ever seen before in the history of American politics.

This is the proof of what America has become a Totalitarian country. You will be pulled kicking and screaming into it. But who will be hearing the screaming since no one will be telling you others are crying going into that world? All of the media is a joke or soon will be. There are no poor, there are no dying, there are no lines; this is what we are going to hear from our media but people will feel that something is just not right and in their hearts know what has been lost.

The smile will be gone and we will be told not to smile since it might offend someone and they will get the wrong impression and attack you; otherwise, it will be your fault. Just start keeping you eyes down as you walk and don't say anything loud or you will become it's target, get ready for it, for it is coming.

Usually don't defend Republicans, but I think they did a decent job, Cao withstanding. Cao proved he is just a politician. The dems have the majority, but it ain't over. Don't give up and don't quit. Most of us know that We will have to win this, not our electeds.

The dems passed this thing after losing on Tuesday, after in-partying fighting no one can deny, after over 20k protesters on Thursday, and after knowing that the majority of Americans don't want this. They don't care, so we can't care what happens to them when this is all over with. We have to fight smarter and harder to win, but we will win. There are too many people working, fighting, and praying. My Bible tells me that the gates of hell will not prevail against God's people. America is God's country. The dems are little roaches.

It sure isn't morning in America anymore...more like the nightmare on Main Street. I still have faith in myself and my fellow Americans that we can defeat this somehow. We are dealing with ruthless leftists who have taken over the government. I never thought it would get this far, but it has.

More like ''Dr. Know.''

I hate it that the little Viet jerk gave Obama the ''right'' to now spin this Pyrrhic victory as ''bi-partisan.'' His parents are spinning in their graves. They risked their lives to get his little butt into a safe country. And he wee-wee's it away.

Louisiana must house some conservatives in Anh Cao's district. Please find them, American patriots ... now. This man, in his first term, has proven to be a HUGE traitor to the political party whose name he carries. He came to America from Vietnam for FREEDOM, and he is voting to kill it. What is wrong with this picture?

I can't imagine what kind of political promise Nancy made to this guy. Secret Soros bank account? College education for kids? Charley Rangel's job? Whatever it was, you can bet your bippo that he was BOUGHT OFF.

Obama on the 2008 campaign trail: “I am absolutely certain that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal.”

Lieberman,Dorgan,Nelson, Lincoln, Tester, and so on are running for cover so they can vote no on this communist take-over of USA. And there will be cover, courtesy of snowe, collins, and grahamesty, just not enough for all the vulnerable dems in mostly red staes. The jockeying for position started months ago, and the payoffs to the eventual losers on above list will cost many billions in taxpayers dollars. In terms of elections, and other corruption, the America is no better than mexico, afghanistan, columbia and the other countries the USA lectures.

This is what we get from professional politicians in office and not your pastor, doctor, neighbor, or scout leader, etc. in positions of power. Hope this gets killed in the Senate. If it is we better find a way to make sure this type of socialism is never tried again. We went through this with the Clintons, and it seems that the Democrats will keep trying to get this passed until they succeed unless something is done.

It should by now be painfully obvious that the deal-making included "blue(lap)dogs", RINOS, and "safe" seats. This illustrates that the problem is the attitude of the elitists of the ruling class in Washington. IMHO, nothing short of a large-scale turnover in the House and Senate next year will save the Republic. We have to break the present power structure. There is no safety in the (R) or (D). Here is the issue:

How many members of the present Congress recognize the rampant violations of the Constitution? How many are willing to adamantly demand enforcement of it's restrictions?

This should be the litmus test for 2010 candidates (incumbent or not). "Tell me what restrictions that the Constitution places on your actions, and are you willing to commit to honoring those restrictions, and are you willing to commit to UNdoing UNCONSTITUTIONAL actions previously taken by Congress?".

Nancy would have pushed this bill even if it had a price tag of 10 trillion (which it eventually may). I believe she has no economic knowledge at all, especially about the effects of such government intrusion. The Slaughter gal from NY seems equally vacuous. They don't care about the cost. Dangerous people.
