Drinking up to eight cups of tea a day offers ''significant health benefits'', including a lower risk of heart attack and stroke, according to research. Caffeinated drinks including tea, coffee and cocoa have a positive effect on mental function, increasing alertness, wellbeing and short-term memory, according to the study. (Snip) ''Black tea, in particular, contains polyphenols, which are natural plant antioxidants. These have beneficial effects on many biochemical processes in the body''

Comments:
So much for the strictly green (or white) tea push. Besides, all that running to the bathroom is good for your cardiovascular system.

You will be dead of kidney failure long before you develop heart disease,

I was laughing to my husband today because I retired last weeek (Yay!) and two people gave me good amounts of fancy tea (black tea) and one gave me a teapot. I laughed because I said, What do they think I'm going to sit around drinking tea all the time? And now, I gues I should do that! LOL!

I love tea. I dropped coffee not because I hate coffee but because I was always anticipating the teatime and decided to cut to the chase.

I drink green tea in the morning, Argentine mate in the afternoon, some other thing in the evening like cinnamon or camomile and Chinese herb tea in the evening. I like tea.

I'm halfway there! I love tea. I have to limit myself to three or four cups a day.

#2, Congratulations on your retirement. Enjoy.

#1, My kidneys like tea just fine, but 24 teaspoons of sugar every day? Cain't drink tea without sugar. And all that milk! Dang! If it's not one thing, it's two things!

What does one do if they absolutely detest the taste of tea, any tea, as in my case? Guess the obvious answer is, you don't drink tea.

I should try to mix tea into my daily coffee routine somehow. I can't believe something with caffeine would be good for the heart, though.

Soon we will read a study that concludes that tea and coffee is bad for you. What to do? Enjoy your life and never forget the death rate remains at 100%.

I never drank coffee, only tea. But since my open heart thingy I stopped all ''peppy'' beverages. A cuppa keeps me up all night.

Raspberry Zinger by Celestial Seasonings is my new favorite.

I know this is gonna sound strange but my keyboard is losing it's period

Half gallon a day for me, my kidneys work just fine, and I am in tip top shape!

It also leads to the National Health Service, pulling out your own rotted teeth with pliers and the total Islamization of your formally great country.

Enjoy your tea!

OTOH, eight barley-pops a day make you see reality as it is. (H/T to someone who's gone on.)

#12 - Just a slight case of not being punctual, I reckon.

Hate even the smell of tea, and it is the drink of my homeland. My parents lived long and well and drank at least 6 cups o' tea day each.

I bought some white tea. And frozen blueberries, raspberries and cherries. So along with ice I will have to whip up a concoction that doesn't taste of tea.

I have always loved tea, hot and cold, sweet or not. Somtimes I like to add Constant Comment's Orange Spice & a tad of sugar to my usual plain & green tea combination.

Glad you have a good sense of humor #14. Very good come back as well. ;-)

I don't drink tea or coffee.

If I drink any caffeine I cannot sleep for 14 hours or more. I'd die of sleep deprivation drinking even four cups of tea a day. This isn't for everyone.

The problem is that tea is no good alone. It requires biscuits or shortbread, while good coffee can be consumed without doughnuts.

I am now microbrewing my cuppa Raspberry Zinger (heating water, cinnamon stick and tea bag in a cup in the microwave) with honey to be added afterward. Yummy

This level of tea will also do wonders for your blood sugar control if you are at risk or reasonably controlled tyoe II.

BTW, if you brew your tea loose in something like a Zarafina then just add a teaspoon of cinnamon to the two cup load and it will be sweeter than sugar added and 10 times better for you.

You can also add cinnamon to coffee makers, didi it for years at work.
