Unless he's planning on showing up there (Ft. Hood) unannounced today to visit, this is really a stupid move. You'd think they would learn from the blowback they got (even from the nutty Boston Globe, for crying out loud!) for his goofball insensitivity in his remarks following the shooting and try to remedy the situation. Yes, I do indeed think this is going to cost him.

IIRC, it was Nov, 1985, a plane carrying soldiers from Ft Campbell, KY crashed. ("Screaming Eagles"?) I remember Pres and Mrs. Reagan greeting and consoling soldiers, I just can't remember where they flew but they were there to comfort people and offer sympathies. I watched the coverage and I was deeply moved. Class tells.

He needs to be near DC to strong-arm suicidal democrats into socializing healthcare. He also doesn't want to go to Ft, Hood without a speech with a stronger apology to Muslims. Remember, in his world, it's not jihad, Muslims are simply misunderstood.

For the good of the military and its general tone of morale, perhaps it is a good thing that Resident (Pres_ent) Barack Hussein Obama, Jr., or Barry Soetoro, or Mr Michelle Robinson, or Sock-Puppet, is just staying clear the heck off the scene.
Unlike the "Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1992-2001", Obama is clearly incapable of faking sincerity, or even very much empathy, in his dealings with the military.
Has anybody ever checked back and determined the attitude of Woodrow Wilson toward the US Military establishment? It seems that Wilson, too, had little empathy for the typical soldier, or the "officer class".

Actually, he'd rather arm ACORN, sick them on the American taxpayers, and phase out the U.S. military altogether. When are some forward thinking Democrats who care about America and the future of their party going to demand answers to questions about our pResident's past and his eligibility to serve in the office he's so thoroughly demeaning? The reason he didn't go is because he couldn't drag his cameras along without it smelling of political opportunism. If he can't stage a photo op he isn't interested. Plus, he might be forced to say something mean about the shooter.

Muslims were welcome at Rev. Wright's Trinity United Church of Christ (sic), and were not pressured to become Christians, probably because christianity in any recognizable form wasn't practiced there. Zero's religious status is a question mark, but I'd say that he's a Muslim in effect, if not in fact. He bowed deeply to the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, and speaks of the "beauty" of the Muslim morning call to prayers. His official religious affiliation doesn't matter as much as what he does and says. His actions speak loudly and eloquently about what he really is.

#3 Actually it was December 12,1983 when Arrow Air Flight 1285 crashed after take off killing all 248 service men from the 101st Airborne Division, and eight crew members of the plane.
The troops were on their return flight from the Sinai peninsula where they had been for 6 month. President Reagan and First Lady Nancy came a few days later to comfort to the troops at Fort Campbell. Air Force One landed at Ft Campbell.
The Airfield at Fort Campbell is operated by the Air force and is large enough for a 747 to land.

May I add that there are many Ldotters who certainly can not be categorized as "silly" - it is actually rather offensive to be labeled negatively on this site. They can be categorized as very serious regarding the research they have done over the last 18+ months - research that included the review of Obama's school entry application signed by his stepfather which listed him as "Muslim" - his slip of the tongue with George Stephanopolis regarding his Muslim/Islamic self. Oh, BTW, I'm one of the serious researchers and I am far from silly...

President Bush 41 gave up golf and even desert after the war started. His visits to wounded soldiers were often and unadvertised. He was so conscious of his role as C in C.
Skippy-doodle thinks of himself as the leader of the world, and can hardly be bothered with the real work of the President. As for the missus, let's see what she dons for the memorial service.

Watch the White House try to spin President Bush's trip to Ft Hood in a bad light. They don't get it. They'll be 4 and done for sure. Thanks the Lord!

Maybe Hussein Obama's making a bedside visit to Major Hasan's hospital bed?

If it is silly Obama is a Muslim, then why did he admit it in interview and then was corrected by the interviewer? In addition, when Colin Powell endorsed him he also said, "what's wrong with a Muslim being president?" A major tell on his part. In Obama's filthy heart he is happy one of his own murdered our soldiers. Nothing, and I mean nothing, will change my mind about that. He is the most despicable man ever to be the president of our country.

As some other posters have said, I too think it's probably best that O not go to Ft. Hood this weekend - he doesn't deserve to be in the presence of those brave men and women who are grieving. However, to take off for Camp David and some recreation is outrageous; does this man even have a soul.

Thank you #30 for answering #6. The fact that Obama is a muslim is frightening. He declared it himself and I wonder if that is the little secret in his birth certificate, maybe not where he was born (although I have my doubts it was in the US) but his religion.
How did we come to this?

He needs to stay away from Ft. Hood . . . he's such a phony embarrassment.

Like Rush tells us, Rev. Wright IS Øbama and Øbama IS Rev. Wright. Now if Rev. Wright was president would anyone expect HIM to visit Ft. Hood and console families harmed by this Muslim terrorist? (A brother in arms to other Marxists) Øbama spent 20 years in Rev. Wright's church of hate, Rev. Wright married Barack and Michelle. Øbama IS Rev. Wright, an avowed Marxist. Øbama - the better we get to know him, the more we hate him. On another note, I wonder if this Muslim terrorist was some kind of 'sleeper', just waiting for orders from Iran to go execute as many American soldiers as he could? Why would it surprise anybody to learn that this guy was a terrorist 'sleeper' or part of a 'sleeper cell'?

Yes, #44, the winds certainly shifted in an ugly direction in Texas and the chief muzzie or imam in OUR White House will stnad against Americans, even if they are our soldiers and patriots. My feelings against him and those who surround him know no bounds. God bless GWB and Ms. Laura for their support to American's finest.

Kudos to President George W. Bush and his lovely, classy wife Laura. I have always had huge respect for both of them and that has not changed. I would think that Obama is doing a slow burn upon finding out that President and Mrs. Bush visited Ft. Hood, knowing in his childish mind that it will make him look bad. If he speaks at a memorial we must count how many times he says "I" or "me".

There is nothing, absolutely positively nothing more despicable than a Commander in Chief who disrespects the very people who defend our freedom, who love this country so much they give their life to defend it, it's principals, it's very foundation. Obama literally spit in their faces with his comments on the incident, his quick defense of the shooter and his lack of respect by not making an appearance. In all reality the person who meant the most to them did make an appearance to give comfort. President and Mrs. Bush are compassionate, caring and portray a true commander in chief. God Bless him and Laura and may God Bless and comfort Ft.Hood

Our troops, their families, and people who care about the troops already don't vote for Obama.
Ergo, they are not worth bothering with in Obama's mind.
He uses people; these people are useless to him.

Each day I become more ashamed of my country and fearful of its future - I do not believe that we will have an honest election in 2010, if at all.

Know what I think? Well, I've been afraid, yes, afraid to say. But I'll say it now.
I believe Alinski dedicated his book, "Rules for Radicals," to him.
There.

President Magilla was just too busy to console our soldiers. Perhaps he was preparing roast missionary....Christian of course. I hold this verminous puke in complete, total and utter contempt.

I'm certain Ike, who renamed the retreat site Camp David, is turning over in his grave at the thought of the CIC relaxing there after soldiers were killed on post instead of comforting the injured and families of the dead. But, in the long run...better Obama not show up than make a photo-op out of it...and, he could prove me wrong and making a secret visit there but I kinda doubt it.
Obama's Katrina-Goat story moment rolled into one and great fodder for the 2012 campaign.

This guy is a real piece of work. But then again he voted to let babies who survived an abortion die. That says a lot.

No. 6 has it wrong. BO is a closet muslim, who identifies more with them than with our soldiers and us. There are multiple examples of this. Truly the Manchurian candidate.

How much more I would have respected OJ if he had committed suicide in the Bronco.
So Teleprompter Jesus wants to relax this weekend instead of working.
Could it be that I respect Teleprompter more for being true to his own worthless self than I would if he cynically went to Fort Hood ? Of course, I know he's a cynical liar.
So, I guess laziness trumps cynical posturing for Teleprompter.
QED: no, I do not respect him more for not going.
