If Pelosi passes this bill, she will be unseating herself as Speaker in 2010. Methinks the real game is that she understands this totally and is actually pretending to get this passed to appease Obama and keep her power.

Pelosi knows the hazards, but her goal is to get this passed in the House so it's off her agenda and the Senate's problem. She also knows it's now or never because this gargantuan, gassy piece of trash is losing air hourly across the nation.

The Congresscritters don't care about the American people, they care only about their own power. As the article stated, the progressives have been trying to get this for a hundred years. The Constitution be dam*ed, they want this and they want it now.

This will pass. There is no way back for the Democrats. If they pull back, they will suffer politically. If they go ahead, they will suffer politically.
If I were a moderate Dem, I'd probably vote for it. Rham and Co. are going to make my life in and out of Congress sheer hell if I don't go for it. It's going to die in the Senate anyway I think.

The total corruption (degeneracy?) of the Rats in pursuing health care reform should doom them with the vast majority of the American people. The current elections speak volumes.
America overthrew its feudal lords nearly 250 years ago and started on a path of individual freedom. Most people in the world remain attracted to having an aristocracy in control of their lives, but not most Americans. The Rats have shown their true colors and the historic Americans are awakening. Although this remains a fearful moment for that "shining city on the hill", it will not be so easy to defeat such a conservative people.

I disagree. It should die in the House. The game plan in action is that they need to just keep it moving forward and to make the necessary adjustments to pass it. Them in reconciliation bring back the stuff you originally wanted in it and pass it. No, if the committed anti votes are there they should stand up and take it on principle.

Folks are really upset about this and I don't think that it will go away as the demoRats are hoping that people will forget about this come November 2010.

I imagine that at this moment Nancy and her staff are working on a concession speech. How foolish, mean-spirited, and over-the-top it will be is beyond the imagination of any sane person.
When angry and upset, Nancy, with her inimitable speaking style combining spastic gesturing, barely articulate screeching, and an Armani ensemble, has been described as a cross between Joe Cocker and a Barbie Doll. But at least, if ObamaCare goes down, we will be able to laugh instead of cry.
Nancy has never had the votes. If, at any moment, she had had them, wild horses would not have been able to keep her away from gaveling the House into order and passing the terrible thing. It's highly unlikely that after Tuesday's elections any additional Congresspersons have been eager to jump on the ObamaCare bandwagon; more likely, many are jumping off before it goes over a cliff. At this point, Nancy seems intent on postponing the inevitable vote; but kindly colleagues must be advising her that her beloved bill is dead and the plug must be pulled.

This is what the Democrats do. Whenever they have the Executive plus both houses they immediately drive over a cliff.
When they are out of power, Americans forget why we hate them. When they are in power, we remember: They want to live in luxury enjoying every privilege of power while redistributing our hard earned wealth.

The fact that it "might" die in the Senate is not good enough.... it should die in the House.... If the House congressmen can be pressured into voting "aye" just think what can be done in the Senate with fewer members and more favors owed.... they are "arm breaking" to get these votes.... and we, the people and the Constitution are the last thing they're thinking about.

I end up praying over and over for God to have mercy on us, to hear the cries of His people, and to save us from this pack of evil thugs intent on destroying us and our way of life.
I also confess to asking the Lord to smite Nancy Pelosi and others in power who are power-mad and evil. I figure if David (in Psalms) could ask God to do that to his enemies, so can I.

Just returned from Washington DC last night. As we were driving back, the calls went out to again go to the Capitol building to protest against today's (Saturday's) vote. We were already in Ohio or Western Pennsylvania when we heard it. Obviously it was too late to turn around and go back, but it wasn't too late to call Representative's office. I immediately called Mark Schauer's office, (Mich. 7th) but had to leave a message. I just got off the phone this morning with a male aide to Schauer. Mark hasn't decided how he's going to vote today. Naturally, I encouraged him in the strongest terms to tell Schauer to vote "NO". I told him that Bart Stupak (Mich. 1st Dist.) will get re-elected because he is leading a charge against bill. I strongly implied that Mark Schauer will not be re-elected if he votes "yes" on this monstrosity.
If you live in Michigan's 7th District, or even another Michigan District, call Schauer's office (202)-225-6276. Praise any Dem Rep you know who is against the bill. Schauer knows he's in trouble if he is paying attention to polls here in state.

Democratic leaders, led by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), have given away as many concessions as they could spare in an effort to get to 218 "yes" votes.
You lie. Pelosi didn't make a single noteworthy concession.
...Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), who had been trying to broker a deal between as many as 40 pro-life Democrats and a number of abortion-rights Democrats, warned Friday evening that if one side needs to win, the entire bill would likely fail.
Sounds good to me. Let it fail. It needs to fail. Then burn all 2000+ pages of it.

If I could see the Health Care Reform Bill as virtuous in EITHER method or intent I could have a different idea of the manner of man who might support it. I see it as iniquitous on both counts. Any who vote for this reprehensible thing are nothing more than thieves, thugs, persecutors, and tyrants. Most of them are also willful liars.
In its own way, "Just shut the f*ck up and gimmie your stuff or else" is an honest statement, so it is possible that some who support this theft are not exactly liars.

Time to stand up for our constitution, personal liberties and good government and get the fed back to what it is supposed to be doing...security, a justice system, international relations, treaties and diplomacy and some reasonable regulatory oversight. Death commissions, mandatory health insurance, a giant fed beaurocracy to monitor/regulate/ supervise my personal health and 250 millionaires being courted by health care lobbyists who have nowhere else to go besides them if this passes doesn't work. We went to war 250 years ago over less...has it come to that again? Do the right thing when this comes up and say "No!"

Dear Congressman Price,
As a vote on the hastily constructed House health care bill approaches, I write to implore you to hold the House leadership accountable to the promises it made to publish the bill 72 hours prior to any vote, and do so by voting against the bill.
Constitutents here in Durham and across the country have made it known to members of Congress that they do not favor the wholesale-change approach to health care, and that they do not believe it is fiscally responsible to pass it into law. It would be especially wrong to do so at a time when the government's fiscal policy is so unclear and inspires so little confidence among the citizens.
I urge you to be one of the wiser heads among the House Democrats. I urge you to take a more measured approach to this problem, dealing with the parts that are indeed problems, and not creating chaos where there is not a problem. Please do not fall a victim to party politics in this matter.
Very sincerely yours,

#22 you absolutely inspired me to call Schauer's office. I did and after three tries got through and talked to someone about several issues. I basically told him that we in MI are fed up and disgusted with the way the Dems are running through the treasury and trying to force a health care bill on us that takes away our freedom and costs over a trillion dollars. He tried to convince me that I didn't know anything, but I always countered his comments with facts. We ended amicably, but I did say if Schauer votes for this bill I will be going door to door next fall to defeat him. Thanks for getting me going here.

Hopefully he and all the others are hearing from their constituents, and reading the polls, and reading the unemployment numbers. I implore ALL of you to get on the phone right now, especially if you have a Dem representing you. Also, email to bluedog@mail.house.gov. That is the email for the Blue Dog group.

The first concern of Blue Dog Jason Altmire (making things worse) is consistent with the Hippocratic Oath that prioritizes the ethical obligations of physicians: First, do no harm. His worry is well-founded
Placing their interests ahead of the nation’s, far-lefters have packaged one decent idea (no denial of coverage for pre-existing conditions) into an otherwise horrible 2,000-page, $1.3 trillion bill that would lead directly to government takeover of health care, higher taxes, higher unemployment, and rationed health care.
Meanwhile reform proposals that would actually expand access to lower cost health care have been deliberately excluded from the grotesquely misnamed “Affordable Health Care for America Act:”
- Allowing small businesses to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, just as corporations and labor unions do.
- Invoking the Commerce Clause of our Constitution to permit shopping across state lines for insurance.
- Ending junk lawsuits that dramatically escalate the cost of health care by causing doctors to practice “defensive” medicine by ordering otherwise unnecessary tests and procedures.
Societies that reward lawyers, politicians and bureaucrats more than it does doctors and nurses and employers will have far too many of the former and far too few of the latter.

Dear Mr. Adler,
I'm writing to let you know how sincerely I, a fellow citizen of New Jersey and the United States of America, am opposed to this health reform bill. I do not believe the Congress of the United States realizes just how damaging this bill will be, both in real economic terms, but more importantly to the very fabric of our nation. Ours has always been a mixed people, made of "iron and clay," and we cannot take for granted the unity we have, nor underestimate the power of the federal government to shred that delicate fabric.
This legislation will permanently divide our nation, again, and I fear we will not recover. Perhaps the American people will address it as they have before, and vote out of office all that brought us to this place. Such an outcome would be in keeping with our deepest traditions of peaceful political reform through our representative republic.
I didn't imagine while growing up and reading the history of our nation that at 32 years of age I would see that unity, hard won through "the blood of patriots," so willfully cast aside and carelessly treated by its very leaders. I trust I can count
