The Future Is Bright
Weekly Standard, by Fred Barnes

Republican conservatives and moderates are at each other's throats. Tea party populists are furious at President Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and aren't crazy about Republicans either. Democrats haven't got a clue. There's talk of a third party. The economy is stagnant as unemployment, now 10.2 percent, climbs. It's beginning to look like the late 1970s. This is good news for Republicans--extremely good news.

Obama is the second term of the Carter Administration.

But, when he is done, Jimmy will no longer be labeled as "worst".

Yeah...the future is bright for the anti-Obamaites (I hesitate to say the Republicans, because they've not yet shown themselves to be worthy of that trust), but it sure is hell on those of us who are already having a hard time making ends meet.

Waiting another 3-4 years for relief from this colossally narcissistic fool is going to put millions of people in a hole that is going to be all but impossible to dig oneself out of.

It makes one yearn for a no-confidence vote and a snap election. Sigh.

I'm not sure the Democrats are all that fond of Nancy these days. I wonder how many of them are secretly vying for her Speaker post once she bites the dust next year. Remember, her constituents work hard for their money too and many of them make over $250,000 per year. It's becoming less and less a case of us vs them when it comes to taking more of our money.

They could replace Pelosi with a reptile and no one would notice.

Fed Barnes has a lot of room to talk, Populous Tea Parties indeed. That is the pot calling the kettle black.

Barnes is another out of touch beltway idiot. One thing the media keeps perpetrating is the tea baggers are dissaffected conservatives when they're really a mish mash of all kinds of people. How can he deride republicans and then say things are looking good for them? What good will it do to take the House back next year if the damage is already done? If they try to overturn anything,Obama can veto it.The liberals still believe in Obama's celebrity and star power to carry the day for them. Is any dem distancing themselves from Obama besides Lieberman? It's probably going to take a major catastrophe to get critical mass against Obama and even then the liberal media will spin it away.

Is it populist to believe in: 1 Small Govt 2 Fiscal Responsibility 3 Free Markets ? Of course not. But Fred Barnes is just another Beltway Elitist who doesn't get it, and will soon be marginalized. We are the people, Fred, and we will be heard. We're awake, and we are going to save this country for you and the rest of idiot America.

Daily life in the Washington, DC metro area promotes smugness, insularity, and faulty reasoning. In the Washington area, us versus them doesn't necessarily mean Democrats versus Republicans. It's just as likely to mean Washington Metro versus the US. It's just a cultural-geographical fact of life. It's not corruption per se, but rather lazy-minded obeisance to "convention wisdom".
