Reality, with its strange imponderables and odd wanderings into uncharted spaces, repels the LEFTIST. He prefers the futile certainties of the Model that exists, virginally impalpable, in his own head. The Model sustains him as the crutch allows the locomotion of the cripple. His supreme mental task is to persuade, and then compel, the Universe to conform to his precious Model. The arch-typical example today of this LEFTIST embrace of the Model is Mr. Al Gore's atmospheric reductionism that he chooses to call Anthropogenic Global Warming. It cannot be falsified. It can be twisted to explain everything. It is too frequently wrong. But it is LOVED, for it beats thought for the lazy LEFTIST.
