| A Microsoft security report released on Monday warns that cyber crooks are digging into computers for weak spots to penetrate with worms - malicious software that steals control or data. Rogue security software remained the top hacker threat to computers during the first half of this year, but the number of infections was dropping while penetrations by worms doubled

Comments: And now for some bad but not unexpected news. A test was just performed and found Windows 7 is vulnerable to 80% of the gunk which can attack Vista. So you must keep your security software running and up to date.

I love the fantasy world that Mac users live in. Some of them are similar to those who believe in global warming.
There was a report in Feb, one in April and one in June. If Macs don't get viruses then why is Kaspersky and McAfee pushing anti virus programs just as they do for PC's?

#3: Because they're trying to sell software, whether anybody needs it or not?
Threats to Macs are rare and mostly theoretical. That's why you hear about them in the news sometimes: man bites dog. As a practical matter most Mac users need not be concerned, unless they intentionally download things from dodgy websites. But Windows users always need to be on guard. Hook a plain Windows box to a broadband connection, and it's infected in a matter on minutes by one or more of the many thousands of viruses etc. out there.
