This is a remarkable day in the history of our country. We have never over our centuries inaugurated a man like Donald Trump as president of the United States. You can select any random group of former presidents — Madison, Lincoln, Hoover, Carter — and none of them are like Trump. We’ve never had a major national leader as professionally unprepared, intellectually ill informed, morally compromised and temperamentally unfit as the man taking the oath on Friday. So let’s not lessen the shock factor that should reverberate across this extraordinary moment. It took a lot to get us here. It took a

A confidential David Brock memo obtained by the Washington Free Beacon lays out the ways the Democratic operative plans to use his numerous organizations to take down President Donald Trump through impeachment. Brock is currently at the Turnberry Isle Resort in Aventura, Fla. for a weekend conference with more than 100 major liberal donors. Attendees are mapping out a course to combat the newly sworn-in president. According to the private and confidential memo, Brock plans to defeat Trump “through impeachment,” using American Bridge, his liberal super PAC, as the main vehicle to do so. “No other progressive organization has the resources and assets

Wearing pink, pointy-eared "pussyhats" to mock the new president, hundreds of thousands of women massed in the nation´s capital and cities around the globe Saturday to send Donald Trump an emphatic message that they won´t let his agenda go unchallenged over the next four years. "We march today for the moral core of this nation, against which our new president is waging a war," actress America Ferrera told the Washington crowd. "Our dignity, our character, our rights have all been under attack and a platform of hate and division assumed power yesterday. But the president is not America. ...

Most of the 230 rioters arrested after violent protests erupted in Washington D.C. following Donald Trump´s inauguration will be charged with felony rioting, federal prosecutors said on Saturday. The charge carries a punishment of up to ten years in jail and a $25,000 fine. Thousand of protesters launched a violent rampage just blocks away from the White House as anti-Trump demonstrators smashed store windows, set fire to cars and threw bricks at police. Scroll down for videos (Photos) Many of those arrested are due to appear in court on Saturday, according to WUSA 9. Heated clashes broke out in McPherson

I am no stranger to protesting, having marched so often in the sixties and seventies that I sometimes felt as if I were chanting "Hey, hey, LBJ" in my sleep. But I have come to think over the years that too much demonstrating can get to be a bad habit, like smoking. Now I´m not talking here about the Gloria Steinems and Michael Moores, for whom protest is so much a way of life they couldn´t exist without it. Or the Madonnas who, like other entertainment stalwarts, have business reasons for constantly reminding us they are still have their "edge" even

Fuel economy gains have moved at a snail’s pace in the U.S., thanks to drivers’ love of pickup trucks and lower sales of hybrid vehicles. New vehicles sold in 2016 averaged 23.7 miles per gallon, compared with 23.3 miles per gallon in 2015 and 19.9 miles per gallon a decade ago, analysts at Tudor Pickering Holt said in a recent note. That 1.7% improvement in 2016 is only a squeak more than the 10-year average gains of 1.6%: One major headwind to fuel economy is Americans’ “seemingly insatiable appetite for trucks,” the analysts said. Trucks’ fuel economy averaged 21 miles

Never mind the Russians. It was Hillary Clinton who was actually trying to sabotage the 2016 Presidential Election, according to a WikiLeaks release. The information released shows that the Hillary Clinton campaign staffers bribed six Republicans to “destroy Trump”. The evidence includes an email from John Podesta to Huma Abedin discussing diverting Clinton campaign funds to various Republicans who were secretly on the Clinton payroll. Conservativedailypost.com reports: The email, sent in July of this year, describes how funds were being diverted from Clinton’s campaign to the Super PACS of Jeb Bush, Carly Fiorina,

Television is a brutal business, and so is politics. Both can be great for the winners, but for the losers, humiliation, financial stress, and worst of all, obscurity beckon, like a career version of the Grim Reaper. The upheaval of the 2016 election is being matched by the turmoil in cable news. Among the punditry, one the biggest losers is George Will, the syndicated political commentator who openly hoped for a 50 state sweep by Hillary Clinton, so obnoxious in his eyes was Donald Trump. His post-election appearances as a Special Report panelist have been awkward enough that Fox News made

Arizona Sen. John McCain on Sunday said he´s still uncertain about whether President Trump will lead a successful administration. Asked if he has "confidence" in America´s new commander in chief, the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee twice said: "I do not know." "I do not know because has made so many comments that are contradictory," McCain told ABC´s George Stephanopoulos. "But I think the fact that he´s appointed and nominated these outstanding individuals is bound to be an encouraging sign," he continued. "I trust them and have worked with them over many years." As an African American woman, I find the 2016 campaign — and now the 2017 inauguration — doubly painful. Donald Trump’s victory revealed inconvenient and ugly truths about the United States and its political system, including the persistence of racial Discrimination and the continuing sting of misogyny. (Snip) The spine-chilling chants of “lock her up” were not mere expressions of political exuberance, but dark echoes from the era of the Salem witch trials. Whatever Clinton’s failings, she conducted herself in a dignified and exemplary manner throughout her long career of public service. But the man who measures women by the

Madonna told thousands of Women´s March attendees in Washington that she has "thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House" since President Trump was elected. Addressing rallygoers from the stage, Madonna said, "This is the hallmark of revolution. So, my question to you today is, are you ready? I said, are you ready? Say yes, we are ready!" "Yes, I´m angry. Yes, I am outraged. Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House," she said. "But I know that this won´t change anything. We cannot fall into despair." The Secret Service has reportedly said they will open an investigation into Madonna after the singer told the Women´s March on Washington that she had thought about ´blowing up the White House´. Donning a black p***yhat, the music icon caused controversy by dropping the F-bomb four times, sparking a slew of apologies from broadcasters airing the protest live. She went on to speak of her rage at the election result, telling the crowd she had thought a lot about ´blowing up the White House´ but knew that it ´wouldn´t change anything´.
