Monica Lewinsky is 100% right. The internet can be a brutal, unforgiving colosseum of rage, hatred and vile, disgusting abuse. I speak as something of an expert in this area given that I was recently reported to be the most abused public figure on Twitter in Britain. But the kind of nonsense I have to put up with – someone recently tweeted my eldest son to inform him that he hoped I was soon beheaded – pales into insignificance compared to the abhorrent misogyny, sexism and often criminal insults (threats to rape etc) that high profile women have to endure. Via Gabe Malor, not only would (i.e. will) Abbott’s wife be the first Latina first lady of Texas, Abbott himself likes to stress that fact when he introduces her at rallies. Dave Weigel tweets that Mrs. Abbott is featured on campaign billboards with her husband across the state. Her mother’s picture has also made it onto Abbott 2014 billboards to assure fellow Latinos that “Texas will love having him as governor.” It’s no secret, in other words, that he and his wife are of different races. On the contrary, it’s a message broadcast repeatedly by the Abbott campaign itself to appeal

Head on over to the website for SarahPAC, and you will be immediately asked for contributions to help “reverse Obama’s destructive policies” by sending “real conservatives to fix them.” But according to a new report, former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin’s political action committee has only doled out 5 percent of the money she raised to actual candidates for office this year. Here is what OpenSecrets.org reported about SarahPAC’s latest FEC filings: For the two-year 2014 cycle, the former Alaska governor’s PAC, a vehicle that helps her stay in the game amid talk that she may run in the 2016 presidential contest,

The Supreme Court’s recent decision not to take up challenges to state amendments banning same-sex marriage has had two significant effects – it has expanded marriage to 30 states and reignited the political conversation around marriage equality in the 2014 midterms. Since 2011, I have worked with Project Right Side to help Republican leaders navigate a radically changing electorate on the freedom to marry. While public acceptance of marriage equality has steadily increased, this moment may ultimately be looked upon as the point where Republican opposition to marriage equality began to fall in earnest. According to a recent poll of Republicans I

(Video) President Obama was once a “citizen of the world” and a “political rockstar,” according to Charles Krauthammer, but now the lack of demand for him on the campaign trail has become a “a total humiliation" for the president. Krauthammer, a syndicated columnist and a Fox News contributor, made the comments on "Special Report with Bret Baier" Tuesday after Obama tied Democrats to his political agenda while discussing the midterm elections. "The bottom line is though, these are all folks who vote with me, they have supported my agenda in Congress,” Obama said. "This isn´t about my feelings being hurt.

The Democrat mantra that voting fraud is rare takes another blow today with the stunning story of a GOP candidate unable to vote for himself in Cook County Illinois. The Illinois Political Review reports: Admitting his confidence in Cook County ballot integrity is shaken, State Representative Candidate Jim Moynihan (R-56), was shocked today when he tried to cast a vote for himself and the voting machine cast it for his opponent instead. “While early voting at the Schaumburg Public Library today, I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” said Moynihan.

When it comes to the outlets that the most conservative Americans get their news from, it´s Fox News and everybody else. And by everybody else, we mean mostly a bunch of other conservative-leaning media. A new study from the Pew Research Center lays bare the increasing reliance on partisan and/or ideological news sources on the right and left, and both sides have trended in that direction. But when you compare the left to the right, it´s clear which side is more interested in consuming news from sources with which it agrees politically. Pew asked people which news sources they got

Bad news for people who love good news: Michael Sam, the NFL’s first openly gay player, drafted by the Rams, then cut, then signed to the Cowboys practice squad, has been released, according to the AP. Sam came to Dallas on Sept. 3, days after he was one of the last cuts from the final St. Louis roster. At the time, we were excited for Sam — not because he was a Cowboy, but because Dallas was expected to have an historically bad defense. Instead, they’re ranked a respectable 16th overall by Football Outsiders, meaning the unit doesn’t need help.

Denver - Hillary Clinton urged Americans not to vote for Republicans who dwell on the past, warning at a Democratic campaign rally Tuesday that conservatives seek to keep women´s rights "under assault" nationwide. Applauded by hundreds of supporters in suburban Denver, the former secretary of state lent her political celebrity to Colorado´s embattled Senate incumbent Mark Udall, who trails in the polls and has made securing constituent´s rights to abortion and contraception the central theme of his campaign. "Don't vote for people who proudly tell you they will never compromise, don't vote for people whose image of the future

This new poll from the Associated Press is about as dire a poll as Democrats could imagine two weeks before Election Day. Democrats are more trusted than the GOP on just two of nine top issues, the poll showed. The economy remains the top issue for likely voters — 91 percent call it “extremely” or “very” important. And the GOP has increased its advantage as the party more trusted to handle the issue to a margin of 39 percent to 31 percent. With control of the Senate at stake, both parties say they are relying on robust voter-turnout operations — and monster campaign spending — to lift their candidates in the final days.

Piotr Naskrecki was taking a nighttime walk in a rainforest in Guyana, when he heard rustling as if something were creeping underfoot. When he turned on his flashlight, he expected to see a small mammal, such as a possum or a rat. "When I turned on the light, I couldn´t quite understand what I was seeing," said Naskrecki, an entomologist and photographer at Harvard University´s Museum of Comparative Zoology. A moment later, he realized he was looking not at a brown, furry mammal, but an enormous, puppy-size spider. Known as the South American Goliath birdeater (Theraphosa blondi), the colossal arachnid is the world´s

Meghan McCain, always outspoken, says she’s got one big regret — calling Rep. Michele Bachmann a “poor man’s Sarah Palin.” “That’s the one if I could take it back I would, because I just think it’s so linear and so nasty,” McCain said in an interview with POLITICO. “And I’m not a big fan of attacking another woman anymore.” The two are now friends, and the congresswoman has even appeared on McCain’s show, “Take Part Live” on the Pivot Network. “It’s so crazy … she’s not the type of person you’d think I connect with,” McCain added. “It’s just with her being a
