The Republican establishment is in full meltdown over the collapse of the bid by House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy of California to succeed retiring Speaker John Boehner of Ohio. NPR reported GOP representatives were “audibly crying.” “Rep. Tom Rooney, R-Fla., said the meeting opened, Republicans said the Pledge and then McCarthy stood up and took himself out of the race. The prohibitive favorite said he didn’t want members to take arrows for voting for him and that he was taking himself out of contention. “Speaker Boehner then immediately moved to adjourn the meeting. Rooney said there was “total shock” and

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH)says that the House of Representatives will impeach IRS Commissioner John Koskinen this session. “It is something that has to be done,” the Washington Examiner reports Jordan, chair of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, told members of the Young Americans Foundation. “If we don’t hold some people accountable in the executive branch for the executive overreach we’ve seen in [the Obama] administration, then they’ll never get the message.” Three months ago Jordan, chairman of the Subcommittee on Health Care, Benefits and Administrative Rules of the House Oversight and Government Operations Committee, was only willing to say

Neurosurgeon Ben Carson, rising in GOP presidential polls, is routinely described in the media as “soft-spoken” and, of course, Christian. But in his increasingly vicious response to the Roseburg, Oregon, shooting, he’s sounded neither soft-spoken nor Christian at all. Carson, who attacked President Obama for “politicizing” the shooting at Umpqua Community College, said he changed his mind about the merits of an assault-weapons ban because he read about “tyranny.” He has also called for the arming of kindergarten teachers to prevent child massacres like the 2012 Sandy Hook killings. But he may have gone too far when he criticized victims

n a recent interview with Fox News, Donald Trump, who has a history of abusing eminent domain for his own benefit, claims that the condemnation of property for transfer to private developers is “a wonderful thing” and “is not taking property”: So eminent domain, when it comes to jobs, roads, the public good, I think it’s a wonderful thing, I’ll be honest with you. And remember, you’re not taking property, you know, the way you asked the question, the way other people—you’re paying a fortune for that property. Those people can move two blocks away into a much nicer house. When the

The wrong drug was used to execute a man convicted of raping and murdering a baby, it has been revealed. Oklahoma used potassium acetate - not potassium chloride, as required under state protocol - to kill Charles Warner, who said his body felt like it was ´on fire´ as he was put to death in January. The state´s governor issued a last-minute stay of execution last week to a murderer after officials discovered that potassium acetate had been delivered for his injection too. Warner was executed for the 1997 killing of 11-month-old girl Adrianna Waller in Oklahoma City.

WASHINGTON – Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) 45% dropped out of the race to become Speaker of the House following a letter sent by a Republican colleague warning Speaker candidates to drop out of the race to hide personal indiscretions that could embarrass the party. House Majority Leader McCarthy dropped out of the race Thursday, just hours before a vote that was expected to make him the Republican nominee for Speaker. But conservatives were unhappy with McCarthy’s front-runner status. Breitbart News reported Wednesday that Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) 72% sent a letter to Republican Conference chairman Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) 48%

A federal judge ordered the State Department Wednesday to request former Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton not delete any government business emails she may still have, but said he doubts he can force her to do anything. Judge Reggie B. Walton said since Mrs. Clinton used her own BlackBerry and computer devices, and kept her email server at her home, he doesn’t have authority over the records she created on those. The ruling is a significant victory for Mrs. Clinton and the Obama administration, which has argued it has already gone above and beyond its duties under the law in trying

Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson has risen to second place in the Republican presidential primary by presenting himself to voters as the accomplished, affable, soft-spoken face of conservatism´s lunatic fringe — the sort of guy who will suggest that evolution was influenced by "the forces of evil" (aka Satan), that there are meaningful parallels between the United States in 2015 and Nazi Germany, and that next year´s elections might just get canceled due to social unrest. With that in mind, his relative lack of expertise on subjects like the federal budget or monetary policy are neither the most shocking nor worrisome

French train attack hero Spencer Stone was stabbed ´four times in the chest´ while trying to protect a female friend in Sacramento. The attack was so violent that police began treating the case as a homicide when they arrived on the scene shortly after 12:45am on Thursday. Police are now looking for two adult Asian males who fled the scene in a dark Toyota Camry, and said repeatedly that the incident was not a terrorist act. The 23-year-old U.S. airman 1st class was one of the three Americans who managed to take down a gunman as he opened fire on

As the weeks go by it is becoming increasingly apparent that a profound disconnect exists amid a very large portion of the current year electorate regarding the goals and objectives of the apparatus we call the GOPe. The group within the Republican party apparatus affectionately known as the “establishment”, or GOPe, does not now – nor do they ever – consider the progressive side of the political continuum, Democrats, as their enemy. The enemy of the GOPe is the conservative base within the republican party. If the GOPe lose a presidential election to a progressive democrat nothing amid their sphere of consequence
