Carly Fiorina Just May Be the

I’m a Ted Cruz fan. At the same time, I find myself increasingly intrigued by Carly Fiorina. She speaks like no one else in the field. Perhaps, in part, because she’s not a politician. (Snip) In just a few short minutes, Fiorina manages to interweave personal stories with core values that include faith in God, limitless human potential, and the greatness of America. Her speeches don’t sound like they have built-in applause lines. She simply speaks. If people clap, that’s fine. She doesn’t appear to expect it or revel in it. She is articulate as she speaks on a wide array of topics

For his With All Due Respect show on Bloomberg TV, Mark Halperin sat down with a focus group of Iowa Democratic voters to discuss Hillary Clinton‘s prospects for the 2016 presidential election. While the group fawned over the former First Lady’s personality and politics (one called her a “bad mama jama”), they were stumped when Halperin asked them to name a single accomplishment of Hillary Clinton’s during her tenure as Secretary of State. The responses ranged from “I really can’t name anything off the top of my head” to “Give me two minutes” to “I honestly can’t say I followed

Chelsea Clinton will publish her first book this fall, joining her parents as a nonfiction author whose name-brand appeal the struggling publishing industry presumably hopes will translate into built-in sales. Her book, “It’s Your World: Get Informed, Get Inspired and Get Going,” is aimed at readers ages 10 to 14, said Penguin Random, which plans to publish it in September. In a press release, Ms. Clinton said she intended to use the book to “try to explain what I think are some of the biggest challenges facing our world today, particularly for young people” and to “explore some of the solutions to those challenges.”

BEAUMONT - Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, denies that he has any animosity toward gay Americans when it comes to states using its own system of regulations to define marriage. While at a fundraiser at the MCM Elegante Hotel in Beaumont on Tuesday, Cruz held tight to his ideas that links same sex marriage to a fight over American´s religions freedoms. "Look, I´m a Christian," Cruz said. "Scripture commands us to love everybody. And what I have been talking about, with respect to same sex marriage, is the constitution, which is what we should all be focused on. The constitution gives marriage to

CBS wasted no time in kicking David Letterman to the curb. ?Just hours after Letterman said farewell after 33 years on late-night TV, Ed Sullivan Theater crews hauled off blocks of blue stage and hacked up pieces of the iconic New York City bridges that made up the set of the “Late Show?.” Fans and passers-by gathered around a police barricade cordoning off the Ed Sullivan to watch workers unceremoniously chuck red theater chairs into an overflowing Dumpster and ?take reciprocating saws to his miniature Brooklyn Bridge. “It’s an end of an era,” commented onlooker Alex Lafreniere, 24, a fan visiting from Oklahoma. President Obama in a speech on Wednesday cast climate change as a growing national security threat, accusing Republican skeptics of harming military readiness by denying its effects. Obama argued in his address to graduates at the United States Coast Guard Academy that rising sea levels and higher global temperatures endanger military bases and could force personnel to respond to conflicts around the world that are fueled by their effects. “Climate change constitutes a serious threat to global security, an immediate risk to our national security, and, make no mistake, it will impact how our military defends our country,”

Disgraced NBC news anchor Brian Williams, who was brought down when it was revealed he lied about his experience in a war zone, has pulled out of hosting an awards show for military veterans and families. Williams, who has been suspended from the network since February, said he didn´t want to be a ´distraction´ from the inaugural Lincoln Awards, which will air Friday on PBS. Instead, First Lady Michelle Obama has stepped in and agreed to film an introduction for the show, which will honor people and groups that help veteran and military families. The concert was filmed in January

Robert M. Gates, president of the Boy Scouts of America, said Thursday that the organization´s ban on gay leaders "cannot be sustained" and urged the group to end its national ban. "I truly fear that any other alternative will be the end of us as a national movement," the former CIA director and secretary of Defense said in remarks in Atlanta at the Scouts´ annual national meeting. He recommended giving local Scout groups the authority to decide whether to allow gay Scout leaders. "We must deal with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be,” Gates

Sport may be dismissed as inconsequential child´s play, but there is, in counterpoint, the ideal that sport is our best model for human fairness and equality — a Garden of Eden with competition. But, of course, there are snakes in this athletic garden. Rules will be broken. To my mind there are, in ascending order, three kinds of transgressions. The first is the most simple: transgressions committed in the heat of the action, instinctively, because of frustration, failure or anger. There are referees to tend to that misconduct. The second type of violation falls more in the realm of regulation. For example,

Meat — despite popular movements to decrease the amount humans consume — is still a central part of diets around the world. [Snip] But the reality is that there are several downsides to society´s growing appetite for meat. [Snip] But what if there were a way to produce meat that would avail us of the need to slaughter animals? What if we could continue to order hamburgers without also feeding the livestock industry as much as a third of the world´s grain production? And what if it could be done for a reasonable price?

Yet another high-profile TV newsman may find himself embroiled in controversy over his connections to the Clinton Foundation. Until late Tuesday afternoon, the Clinton Foundation website listed CNN anchor Jake Tapper as a "speaker" at a Clinton Global Initiative event scheduled for June 8-10 in Denver. After USA TODAY asked CNN about the event, Tapper´s name was swiftly removed from the Clinton Foundation website. One reason for CNN´s quick reaction is easy to understand. Last week, ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, once a political operative for former president Bill Clinton, was widely attacked after he

A permanent plaque has been unveiled to honor Michael Brown, the black 18-year-old who was shot dead by a police officer in Ferguson last August. The steel and gold plate will be drilled into the road on Canfield Drive where Brown was shot, replacing a makeshift memorial of flowers and toys, which had become a safety hazard. It features an engraving of the teenager in his graduation mortar board, with a message that his family ´would like the memory of Michael Brown to be a happy one.´ The plaque was unveiled by Michael Brown Sr on Wednesday, which would have been his son´s
