Trump May Ruin Chance For GOP President

Every sulfurous belch from the molten interior of the volcanic Trump phenomenon injures the chances of a Republican presidency. After Donald Trump finishes plastering a snarling face on conservatism, any GOP nominee will face a dauntingly steep climb to reach even the paltry numbers that doomed Mitt Romney. It is perhaps quixotic to try to distract Trump´s supporters with facts, which their leader, who is no stickler for dignity, considers beneath him. Still, consider these: The white percentage of the electorate has been shrinking for decades and will be 2 points smaller in 2016 than in 2012. In 2008, Barack Obama became

DUBUQUE, Iowa -- Two minutes into Donald Trump´s news conference here Tuesday night came the question he tried to silence. "Mr. Trump, I have a question," said Jorge Ramos, the top news anchor at Univision one of the country´s most recognizable Mexican-Americans, as he stood up in the front row of journalists. "Excuse me," the Republican presidential front-runner told Ramos. "Sit down. You weren´t called. Sit down." Ramos, holding a piece of paper, calmly tried to ask Trump about his plan to combat illegal immigration. "I´m a reporter, an immigrant, a senior citizen," he said. "I have the right to ask a question."

An explosive confrontation brewing between the House Republican leadership and conservatives over Planned Parenthood is threatening to shut down the government for the second time in three years. And House GOP leaders have yet to settle on a strategy to avert it. Desperate to avoid another closure, Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and his team would prefer to build bipartisan opposition to funding the group through a series of high-profile Congressional investigations. But, at this point, that seems unlikely to cut it with a bloc of House conservatives who have said they simply won’t vote for a large-scale spending plan that

Last night leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump held a press conference in Dubuque, Iowa. (Snip) Today Jeb Bush defended Jorge Ramos and criticized Donald Trump for not putting up with his abusive outburst. NBC News reported: Jeb Bush says that Univision anchor Jorge Ramos, who was escorted out of a press conference held by Donald Trump on Tuesday night, should have been “treated with a little more respect.” “I think people with the press ought to be treated with a little more respect and dignity,” he told reporters. Ramos was removed from the press conference after Trump accused him

The potential first First Gentleman is reportedly “very agitated” by the possibility Vice President Joe Biden may challenge Hillary Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination. Politico detailed President Bill Clinton’s frustration with the state of his wife’s campaign in a piece out Wednesday: Clinton’s camp, hands full with the email controversy and a surprisingly stout challenge from independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, isn’t in a patient mood. Bill Clinton, according to a person who has spoken with the former president in the last couple of weeks, is “very agitated” by the possibility of a Biden candidacy and

WASHINGTON - The White House said on Wednesday that the shooting of two television journalists in Virginia is another example of gun violence that is "becoming all too common." White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters that Congress can pass legislation that would have a "tangible impact of reducing gun violence in this country." Earnest said he had not had the chance to speak with President Barack Obama about the shooting, which occurred Wednesday morning. Earnest said the thoughts and prayers of those in the White House are with those killed.

Speaker of the House John Boehner stunned audience members Wednesday evening at a Colorado fundraiser by referring to Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz as a “jackass,” two people in attendance tell The Daily Caller. At a Steamboat Springs event for GOP Rep. Scott Tipton, the Ohio Republican quipped that he likes how Cruz’s presidential campaign keeps “that jackass” out of Washington, and from telling Boehner how to do his job. That remark rubbed some attendees the wrong way. “I don’t think it’s terribly speaker-like, and I think it kind of goes against everything that Reagan ever said about disparaging Republicans,” said Ed MacArthur,

What to make of Donald Trump’s litany of tweets against Megyn Kelly upon her return to The Kelly File last night? Either Trump has a schoolboy crush on Kelly or he’s still angry with her for asking him a tough question about his past statements against women at the GOP debate earlier this month. I suspect the latter is more likely and if that is the case then Trump’s skin is even thinner than Obama’s. The last thing this country needs is another thin-skinned Commander in Chief. May I remind people Kelly asked the question almost three weeks ago. Let me put

The State Department’s internal watchdog leveled biting criticism at the management style of U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy in a new audit on Tuesday, citing “confusion among staff” and “major management challenges” in key offices at the Tokyo embassy. And in an echo of the email woes plaguing former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, the inspection by the department’s Office of Inspector General (OIG) specifically faulted Ms. Kennedy, the daughter of President John F. Kennedy and President Obama’s personal pick for the job, and her aides for using “personal email accounts to send

Wednesday was Women’s Equality Day, the anniversary of the 19th Amendment, which gave American women the right to vote 95 years ago. And how have Republicans marked this egalitarian milestone? Why, with another bimbo eruption, of course. The perpetrator, as usual, was Donald Trump, the front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination, who, in his three-week-old feud with debate moderator Megyn Kelly, circulated a tweet late Monday once again referring to the Fox News star as a “bimbo.” Fox News boss Roger Ailes, who had already had words with Trump over his sexist attacks on the anchor, fired back Tuesday with

Hillary Clinton’s long time confidant, Huma Abedin, is sick and tired of you nasty Republicans dragging her good name through the mud and she’s not going to take it anymore. In response to the mean spirited nature of a Senate Committee asking the State Department to produce certain documents related to her time working for the agency, Abedin’s lawyer has sent a letter to Chuck Grassley telling him he needs to knock off his offensive behavior. (New York Times) A lawyer for Huma Abedin, a top adviser to Hillary Rodham Clinton, has accused Charles E. Grassley, chairman of the Senate

U.S. intelligence analysts keep saying that the American-led campaign against ISIS isn’t going so well. Their bosses keep telling them to think again about those conclusions. Senior military and intelligence officials have inappropriately pressured U.S. terrorism analysts to alter their assessments about the strength of the self-proclaimed Islamic State, three sources familiar with the matter told The Daily Beast. Analysts have been pushed to portray the group as weaker than the analysts believe it actually is, according to these sources, and to paint an overly rosy a picture about how well the U.S.-led effort to defeat the group is going, Reports that
