Nobel Prize-winning author Wole Soyinka said Thursday that he fulfilled his promise to throw away his United States green card and relocate if Donald Trump won the presidency. “I’ve done it,” the Nigerian author told news channel eNCA on the sidelines of an education conference at the University of Johannesburg, Reuters reported. “When I was ready, when I’d finished, I negotiated my departure,” he said. Mr. Soyinka said Africans are worried that Mr. Trump could tarnish the legacy of President Obama, whose father was Kenyan. “We on the African continent could boast that we had a contemporary descendent ruling the

President Barack Obama told Rolling Stone in an interview the day after the election that was published Tuesday that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton would´ve won if only young people voted. "If you look at the data from the election, if it were just young people who were voting, Hillary would have gotten 500 electoral votes," Obama said. "So we have helped, I think, shape a generation to think about being inclusive, being fair, caring about the environment." He said young Americans "will have growing influence year by year, which means that America over time will continue to get better."

Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., said Friday he won´t be attending the inauguration of President-elect Trump in January, because of his plan to boost enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. "I´m not going to this inauguration, I can´t go to this inauguration, because he continues to spew hatred, bigotry and prejudice even after he said he was going to bring us all together," Gutierrez said on CNN. "But he´s not," he added. "He continues to spew this kind of ... hatred. So I´m not going to be there." He did say, however, that he would be in Washington on Inauguration Day to march with people

Donald Trump intends to nominate Gen. James Mattis, one of the most respected military men of his generation, to run the sprawling Department of Defense, it was reported Thursday. Citing people familiar with the decision, the Washington Post said the announcement from the president-elect is expected next week. But since a law prevents those on active duty within the last seven years from serving in a civilian post, Congress will not only have to confirm Mattis but also pass a law making an exception. Congress has done that just once, when Gen. George C. Marshall was appointed to the post

CNN’s Dana Bash reacted tonight to President-elect Donald Trump‘s big post-victory rally by lamenting how much he attacked the media. Trump went on his usual attacks against the “dishonest media,” this time mixing it with mockery of how much the press downplayed his chances of winning. Bash said this in response: (Video) “There were lots of divisive comments, especially and unfortunately about the press, which I wish he would stop doing, not only because we are members of the press, but because as leader of the free world, you do set an example for free press in countries around the

Good morning! The current headline on the Drudge Report doesn’t link anywhere. It’s just a six-word sentence that packs a big punch. It is the definition of “whoa, if true.” See for yourself: (Photo) We will update if the exclusive becomes more concrete and have reached out to Megyn Kelly‘s representatives for more information. Reports on Kelly’s job prospects beyond Fox News have been conflicting. Some say other networks aren’t welcoming the queen of cable news ratings with open arms, but her co-hosting stint on Live! gave Kelly Ripa‘s morning show its highest ratings since Michael Strahan left. The W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which maintains strong financial ties to the Kellogg Company, has provided at least $930,000 in support of the controversial work of the Black Lives Matter organization. The financing is listed on the Foundation’s website. It includes a June 1, 2016 grant to the International Development Exchange, which is in a contractual relationship with Black Lives Matter to process donations for the group. The Associated Press reported the International Development Exchange, also known as IDEX, “has been acting as a mostly unseen financial arm of Black Lives Matter, with the ability to receive grants and tax-deductible donations on

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The raw, lingering emotion of the 2016 presidential campaign erupted into a shouting match here Thursday as top strategists of Hillary Clinton’s campaign accused their Republican counterparts of fueling and legitimizing racism to elect Donald Trump. The extraordinary exchange came at a postmortem session sponsored by Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, where top operatives from both campaigns sat across a conference table from each other. As Trump’s team basked in the glow of its victory and singled out for praise its campaign’s chief executive, Stephen K. Bannon, who was absent, the row of grim-faced Clinton aides who sat

High-end fashion designer Tom Ford revealed Wednesday that he refused to dress Melania Trump because his clothing is “too expensive” for a first lady to wear despite previously making a custom gown for Michelle Obama, according to the Daily Mail. Ford, 55, sat down for an interview Wednesday on The View to discuss his new film Nocturnal Animals. During the conversation, Ford mentioned his relationship with Michelle Obama. Co-host Joy Behar asked the fashion designer whether he would be dressing President-elect Donald Trump’s wife Melania Trump. “We’ve got a new first lady, Melania Trump, and she’s quite beautiful, and she’s thin,

Wisconsin Representative Sean Duffy (R-WI) went on with Tucker Carlson tonight to discuss the recount in Wisconsin. Duffy said Democrats and far left Green Party supporters are stalling the recount in Dane County Wisconsin, where Madison is located. The county is holding a hand recount. The recount will not be completed by the deadline on December 20th. Therefore, according to Rep. Duffy, the state will quite possibly be forced to forfeit their electoral votes. This was the plan all along. Democrats knew they couldn’t make up 20,000 votes. But they also knew if they stalled on the recount the state

MSNBC and NBC News anchor Chuck Todd ripped the Donald Trump campaign, the Hillary Clinton campaign, and even the media Friday in the wake of the public bickering and finger-pointing that took place at a post-election seminar at Harvard University. Todd noted that the Harvard conference had historically been cordial, and a place for incisive and illuminating election postmortems. Thursday, however, the event was marred with a shouting match between representatives of the two major campaigns and arguments between the media and political operatives. “What we saw yesterday — and I’m not going to single out individuals– nobody has any

Muslims working in the State Department, Defense Department, and intelligence agencies like the CIA wonder if, with the election of Donald Trump, they should quit their jobs. The employees are on edge about everything from retaining their security clearances to the possibility of discriminatory treatment under Trump, whose top aides include known peddlers of conspiracy theories about Islamists infiltrating the U.S. government. "I feel apprehensive," a Muslim intelligence official told POLITICO. "I fear that – whatever white power movement or equivalent all of a sudden feels empowered by the president-elect, whatever tidbits of that community make their way into government
