President Barack Obama will change the name of Mount McKinley, the top of which is the country´s highest point, back to its traditional Alaskan title, Denali. His administration announced the name change on Sunday, citing the authority of the Department of the Interior, ahead of a trip to Alaska on Monday that will see him become the first sitting president to visit the state´s Arctic. Alaskans have long called the 20,320-foot mountain Denali, though pushes by its politicians to have the name changed have met with opposition from those in Ohio, the home state of the 25th president.

Jeb Bush fired back at Donald Trump at a Hamptons fund-raiser, calling the Republican front-runner “a jerk.” At the Southampton event Bush — who has been blasted by Trump as “low energy” — added that watching his political rival is like “watching reality TV,” according to a witness. Bush — who had three fund-raisers in the Hamptons over the weekend — also claimed Hillary Clinton would regulate businesses like Uber, asking, “Why would you regulate a company helping people to make a living?” Among 75 guests at the private Meadow Lane home were Woody Johnson, Tamara Mellon, James Tisch, Jane Lauder, and Martin

The heartbroken father of murdered TV reporter Alison Parker said his fight for gun control laws has only just begun as he hit out against the NRA and lawmakers who voted against stricter legislation, saying they ´messed with the wrong family´. Viewers of WDBJ, a CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Virginia, watched in horror on Wednesday morning as Alison, 24, and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were gunned down by a former reporter as they filmed a live segment. Andy Parker, 62, said he has not been able to watch the news after his daughter´s death but will fight to make sure

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Big-time Illinois Lottery winners aren’t getting the largesse. They’re getting left out. Without a state budget agreement two months into the new fiscal year, there’s no authority for the state comptroller to cut checks over $25,000. That means smaller winnings can be paid out, but not the larger lottery wins. Susan Rick, who lives in Oglesby, Illinois, planned home fix-ups and a visit to her daughter after her boyfriend won $250,000 last month. But they were told to wait. Rick tells the Chicago Tribune that if the situation were reversed, the state would “come take it, and they don’t care

The church that Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump says he attends in Manhattan says the candidate is not an “active member.” "Donald Trump has had a longstanding history with Marble Collegiate Church, where his parents were for years active members and one of his children was baptized. However, as he indicates, he is a Presbyterian, and is not an active member of Marble," the church said in a statement to CNN. During a Thursday campaign stop in Greenville, S.C., Trump told reporters, "I am Presbyterian Protestant. I go to Marble Collegiate Church,” which is located on Fifth Avenue, south of Trump Tower. Republican operatives, insiders affiliated with no campaign and donors with whom Right Turn spoke last week are not pleased about the state of the GOP race. (Snip) These Republicans, on one hand, despair that an egocentric bully with no discernible political principles should be leading in polls. They observe that his incoherent mix of authoritarianism, protectionism and cronyism is antithetical to the modern conservative movement, and in tone is 180 degrees from Ronald Reagan. But they also note that he is building an organization and displaying “P.T. Barnum showmanship,”

NASHVILLE, Tennessee–In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, GOP front runner Donald Trump is firing back at the Club for Growth. “They’re a pack of thieves,” Trump told Breitbart News as he was leaving Nashville’s Rocketown facility. He had just finished delivering a high-energy speech to an overflow crowd of more than 1,000 people. Trump was attending the annual convention of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies, which describes itself as “the grassroots Republican wing of the Republican Party.” “They [the Club for Growth] came to my office looking for money. I turned them down. That’s why they’re after me,”

Barack Obama is personally hurt when people call him an anti-Semite, the president said in an interview with the Jewish newspaper the Forward. Obama says "there not a smidgen of evidence for" the accusation. The editor of the Forward asked the president, "[D]oes it hurt you personally when people say that you’re anti-Semitic?" "Oh, of course. And there’s not a smidgen of evidence for it, other than the fact that there have been times where I’ve disagreed with a particular Israeli government’s position on a particular issue. And I’ve said before, and I will continue to say, that if you

It’s a mystery to us where President Obama or his interior secretary, Sally Jewell, gets the authority to rename in Alaska a mountain whose name was ratified by Congress a century ago as McKinley. We can understand the Democratic Party’s interest, in that McKinley, a Republican, was a particularly fine President. He was, moreover, one of four presidents felled by an assassin. We can understand, too, the sentiments of Alaska, whose legislature has wanted to change the name. Where, though, does the president come off doing this by fiat? The question begs for an answer in light of the fact

House Speaker John Boehner said he is "deeply disappointed" in President Obama´s plan to rename Alaska´s Mount McKinley "Mt. Denali," joining a chorus of Republican lawmakers, even though the change has roots in the Republican Party. The peak, which is the tallest in North America, was named after the nation´s 25th president and former Ohio governor, William McKinley, in 1896. Boehner, from Ohio, joined other lawmakers from his state in condemning the move, which Obama announced Sunday. "There is a reason President McKinley´s name has served atop the highest peak in North America for more than 100 years, and that is because it

HOUSTON, Texas – Armed Black Panther members marched in front of the Waller County jail and shouted, “You’re gonna stop doing what you’re doing, or we will start creeping up on you in the darkness.” The statement was made just two weeks prior to the assassination of a Harris County deputy sheriff. Shannon Miles, a black male, allegedly came “creeping up” behind Harris County Deputy Darren Goforth in the darkness on the night of August 28. While Goforth stood at a convenience store pumping gas into his patrol vehicle, Miles allegedly raised a pistol and shot him dead. The comments,

ST. LOUIS – People are quicker to shoot black targets with a gun than they are to shoot white targets, a new study suggests. University of Illinois researchers Yara Mekawi and Konrad Bresin compiled findings from 42 studies on trigger bias to evaluate if race affects the likelihood of a target being shot, as reported by NPR. “What we found is that it does,” Mekawi tells NPR. “In our study we found two main things: First, people were quicker to shoot black targets with a gun, relative to white targets with a gun. And… people were more trigger-happy when shooting black targets
