A senior official calling Netanyahu “chickenshit” shows the ugly side of the president and his team when it comes to the Jewish state. When it comes to Israel, President Obama has been Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. There is campaign Obama, who assures the Israelis he doesn’t bluff when it comes to stopping Iran’s nuclear program, lavishes the Jewish state with even more military assistance than his predecessor, and goes out of his way to let bygones be bygones. Then there is the other Obama. This is the one that instructs his secretary of state to travel to the Middle East to

Timothy D. Cook, Apple’s chief executive, said he was “proud to be gay” in an essay published early Thursday, becoming by far the most prominent executive of a public company to come out. “Let me be clear: I’m proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me,” Mr. Cook wrote in the essay, published by Bloomberg Businessweek. Mr. Cook, 53, has never spoken publicly about his sexual orientation in the many years he has worked in the spotlight at Apple. In his essay, Mr. Cook also noted that he had spent much

So here’s the big symbolic “screw you, Chris Christie” press conference that I thought was going to happen yesterday. Christie wants mandatory precautionary quarantines of health-care workers returning from the hot zone, so Obama’s going to show him what a hysterical overreaction that is by appearing personally with some of those workers. Who, by the way, are currently still in the incubation period. “What about science?” wondered Noah on Twitter.(Snip for tweet) Explain this to me. Has the CDC now decided that transmission is impossible when someone is asymptomatic, regardless of how recent their contact with Ebola patients might be? If

Harvard University on Wednesday provided new proof that the Democrats are going to be broadsided in Tuesday’s national elections as millennial voters, in a shocking shift, now prefer a Republican-controlled Congress and give President Obama his second lowest grade ever. A new and massive poll of 2,029 18- to 29-year-olds from Harvard’s Institute of Politics just released found that of those who say they will “definitely be voting,” 51 percent want the GOP in charge, 47 percent favoring Democratic control. The unexpected anti-Democratic swing prompted a Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reporter quizzing poll experts on a media conference call to IOP blurted out,

(Video) Senator Mary Landrieu said Thursday she thinks one of the reasons she is losing her campaign for re-election is that the state that voted her into office is sexist. Landrieu also said that President Obama is unpopular in her state because of his race. Speaking with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Landrieu said, “I’ll be very, very honest with you. The South has not always been the friendliest place for African-Americans.” Pointing to herself Landrieu continued, “It’s not always been a good place for women to present ourselves. It’s more of a conservative place.” Landrieu oddly didn’t mention that her low

NEW YORK — Apple CEO Tim Cook says he´s proud to be gay. The public declaration, in an essay written for Bloomberg Businessweek, makes Cook the highest-profile business CEO to come out as gay. Cook said that while he never denied his sexuality, he never publicly acknowledged it, either. The executive said that for years he´s been open with many people about his sexual orientation and that plenty of his Apple colleagues know he is gay.[Snip] "I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," Cook wrote in the essay Thursday. Secretary of State John Kerry argued Thursday that the United States cannot push its weight around in a changing and “complicated” world, and implied that the previous administration having done so had led to today’s security crisis in Iraq. In an appearance at the Washington Ideas Forum, Kerry said that although the Obama administration wanted to see a less sectarian government in Iraq – a prerequisite for tackling the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS/ISIL) threat – it could not have simply demanded that former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki be replaced. “The United States couldn’t just crash in and

President Barack Obama is about to do what no president has done in the past 50 years: Have two horrible, terrible, awful midterm elections in a row. In fact, Obama is likely to have the worst midterm numbers of any two-term president going back to Democrat Harry S. Truman. Truman lost a total of 83 House seats during his two midterms (55 seats in 1946 and 28 seats in 1950), while Republican Dwight Eisenhower lost a combined 66 House seats in the 1954 and 1958 midterms. Obama had one midterm where his party lost 63 House seats, and Democrats are expected to lose

It´s not an iPhone announcement, but Apple CEO Tim Cook´s message is just as powerful. On Thursday, the 53-year-old executive came out publicly as a gay man in an essay published in Bloomberg Businessweek. He says he´s just now talking about to the media about this because his "desire for personal privacy has been holding [him] back.""While I have never denied my sexuality, I haven´t publicly acknowledged it either, until now," Cook writes. FORT KENT, Maine — Maine health officials say until a judge signs off on a court order they don´t have the authority to prevent a nurse who treated Ebola patients in West Africa from leaving her home. Department of Health and Human Services Commissioner Mary Mayhew says state police will monitor nurse Kaci Hickox´s movements if she leaves her house. But Hickox can´t be detained without a judge´s approval. Hickox has shown no symptoms of Ebola. She has been abiding by the state´s voluntary quarantine but says she´ll stop doing so Thursday. That sets up a showdown with the
