Trump escalates attack on Bill Clinton

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is reviving some of the ugliest political chapters of the 1990s with escalating personal attacks on Bill Clinton’s character — centered on past accusations of sexual assault — amid a concerted effort to smother Hillary Clinton’s campaign message with the weight of decades of controversy. Trump’s latest shot came Monday when he released an incendiary Instagram video that includes the voices of two women who accused the former president of sexual assault, underscoring the presumptive Republican nominee’s willingness to go far beyond political norms in his critique of his likely Democratic rival. The real estate

Why Is Clinton Disliked?

I understand why Donald Trump is so unpopular. He earned it the old-fashioned way, by being obnoxious, insulting and offensive. But why is Hillary Clinton so unpopular? She is, at the moment, just as unpopular as Trump. In the last three major national polls she had unfavorability ratings in the same ballpark as Trump’s. In the Washington Post/ABC News poll, they are both at 57 percent disapproval. In the New York Times/CBS News poll, 60 percent of respondents said Clinton does not share their values. Sixty-four percent said she is not honest or trustworthy. Clinton has plummeted so completely down to Trump’s

Donald Trump has fired his first shots of the general election campaign. Predictably, they have nothing to do with anything that matters. In a new video released on Instagram, Trump features audio interviews with women who’ve accused Bill Clinton of sexual assault. (Snip) Hillary Clinton is the nominee. To the extent that she’s aligned herself with her husband on policy issues, it’s fair game. But all the noise about Bill’s philandering is a ruse, and you can expect to hear more of it. “The Clintons collectively have dodged many, many, many bullets,” said Trump

Fox’s Kirsten Powers got a little frustrated with Bill O’Reilly tonight as they argued over the rights of transgender students in school bathrooms. O’Reilly was incensed by an editorial from a North Carolina paper saying that we need to “overcome” the discomfort of male genitalia in female locker rooms. He cried, “That is insane.” (Snip) O’Reilly insisted that the discomfort of more “traditional” students and parents should be taken into great account. Powers said that “being open and welcoming” did not suddenly become a non-traditional trait. O’Reilly made it clear trans students deserve certain accommodations, “but to impose this kind

Jimmy Carter: Trump tapped

Former President Jimmy Carter had some tough words on Monday for Donald Trump. Carter told the New York Times that Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, had “tapped a waiting reservoir there of inherent racism.” He also said Trump had violated human rights with some of his incendiary comments on the campaign trail. According to the Times, Carter cited Trump’s proposal to bar Muslims from the U.S. and his claim that Mexico is sending criminals across the U.S. border. “When you single out any particular group of people for secondary citizenship status, that’s a violation of basic human rights,” the

Dear Christian Leaders, I hope this letter finds you well, and I thank you for the time, talent, and treasure you have given to the cause of Christ and its resulting American exceptionalism. Thank you for putting these words from the Scriptures into practice: “Now the Lord is that spirit, and where the spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.”

In his signature book, The Art of the Deal, Donald Trump boasted that when he wanted to build a casino in Atlantic City, he persuaded the state attorney general to limit the investigation of his background to six months. Most potential owners were scrutinized for more than a year. Trump argued that he was “clean as a whistle”—young enough that he hadn’t had time to get into any sort of trouble. He got the sped-up background check, and eventually got the casino license. But Trump was not clean as a whistle. Beginning three years earlier, he’d hired mobbed-up firms to erect

Bill O´Reilly has filed a lawsuit accusing his ex-wife of having an affair while the two were still married and demanding that she hand over $10million to the Fox News host. In legal papers filed in Nassau County, New York and obtained by Gawker, O´Reilly claims that Maureen McPhilmy ´made false representations and material omissions of existing fact ... for the sole purpose of inducing Plaintiff to agree to a consensual divorce and to obtain money and real property to finance an existing extra-marital relationship.´ The couple separated in 2010 after 14 years of marriage and divorced a year later.

He has an uncanny ability to dominate the media and shape a narrative, and he harnessed the anger and anxiety of lower-middle-class whites to reshape the Republican party. If the description fits Donald Trump in 2016, it applied equally to Newt Gingrich in 1994, and it helps to explain the relationship the two have developed during Trump’s ascent to the top of Republican politics — one that many close to both men say could eventually result in the announcement of a Trump-Gingrich GOP ticket. Gingrich has, in effect, launched his own campaign to secure the nomination. “I think Newt is

Hillary Clinton famously handed the Russians a red “reset” button when she took the helm as secretary of state. Now, she’s hitting that same button on her campaign message – unveiling a new slogan as she struggles to simultaneously heal divisions in the party and take on a surging Donald Trump. That slogan? “Stronger Together.” The Democratic presidential front-runner repeatedly used that phrase in a weekend interview, when asked to explain her campaign’s “big idea.” “Look, we are stronger together. We are stronger together in facing our internal challenges and our external ones. We are stronger together if we work

IRS Commissioner John Koskinen has declined to testify in his own defense at a congressional hearing Tuesday, but insisted in a statement that his bungling of a subpoena doesn’t rise to the level of “treason, or high crimes and misdemeanors” needed for him to be impeached. (Snip) But Mr. Koskinen, who said his schedule is too crowded for him to be able to appear on Tuesday, said the allegations against him are “unwarranted,” and no matter what, they don’t rise to the level of impeachment. In a point-by-point refutation of the four counts of potential impeachment, Mr. Koskinen says he “acted

When you differ from people you admire, you have to question yourself. After all, what is the purpose of admiring people if they aren´t capable of influencing you? So, I have had to challenge my position — stated since the outset of the Republican presidential debates — that if Donald Trump wins the Republican nomination, I will vote for him over Hillary Clinton, or any Democrat for that matter.
