Chicago mayoral candidates Lori Lightfoot and Toni Preckwinkle denounced homophobic flyers featuring Lightfoot that surfaced on the city´s South Side over the weekend, as early voting started at all 51 locations across the city Monday. According to the Chicago Tribune, the anti-gay flyers had a photo of Lightfoot and her wife with their arms around each other. The flyers said, "The Feminist and Gay Movement Have Come Full Circle!" The flyers also said Lightfoot was "pro law enforcement" and said, "All contracts, jobs, and employment newly assigned exclusively to gay people!”(Snip) Preckwinkle called the flyers “disgraceful” and said they have

A homosexual named Lightfoot. A little light in her loafers, then?

The jokes just write themselves.

Of course, Chicago is the real joke.

It is now mid-March. Am I the only one to believe it is too early to begin early voting?

The mayoral run off election is on April 2, so not too soon for early voting. Two bad choices from a bad field, but that’s the Chicago Way.

Well, at least the flyer didn´t call Lightfoot´s supports ´dplorables´. Come on, hard nose politics in elections is common. Neither is worthy of voters´ trust if they are so thin skin as to be offended by a pretty tame flyer.

Why do I think that these "homophobic" flyers (and maybe they truly are) targeting Lightfoot are actually being put out there by her supporters?

Perhaps because I think it improbable that anyone would believe that such flyers would make a significant number of people less likely to vote for her. Anyone who would be less likely to vote for her because of these flyers was almost certainly already aware of her proclivities and would have been voting against her already.

The flyers are aimed at black voters. Many are religious and disapprove of the gay lifestyle. Don’t be so sure Toni isn’t behind the flyers. She is black (ethnically, not
skin tone) and stands to gain if black voters are uncomfortable withLightfoot.

Chicago is a lost cause no matter who gets elected. The democrat machine runs the show and they tell the voters how to vote so campaigns are essentially just sideshows.

The people of Chicago already know the two candidates, so the flyers will only work with extremely politically unsophisticated and stupid constituents who have kept the liberal Democrat Chicago machine in power for as far back as anyone can remember, and there are a lot of them in Chicago. So there is your answer.

This is not ‘homophobia’. That is a made up condition that has no basis in fact. This is the way liberals play politics. If they don’t think your votes are at risk you do not matter. If they need to use your homosexuality against you they will. But by all means keep voting for them and keep pretending they love you. They actually don’t care about you one way or the other.

The number of women drinking to excess is on the rise. Experts are worried about the clear and troubling trend showing women, especially moms, developing alcoholism.(Snip) Alcohol is killing more women today than opioids. In fact, the number of deaths attributed to alcohol spiked 85 percent in just 10 years, according to the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington. “Women drink a good 2½ times more frequently than they did 50 years ago,” Dr. Steven Wyatt said. Wyatt says there are many reasons women are so at risk. “So it´s actually absorbed more rapidly by women than men,” he said.

Attorney General William Barr was expected to release a summary of principal conclusions as soon as Sunday, but Democrats want to see the full details. Attorney General William Barr on Sunday released the "principal conclusions" of Special Counsel Robert Mueller´s completed Russia probe in a bombshell four-page letter to Capitol Hill lawmakers, which stated definitively that Mueller did not establish evidence that President Trump´s team or any associates of the Trump campaign had conspired with Russia -- "despite multiple offers from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign." Mueller´s team specifically looked into two Russian efforts to interfere with the 2016 election -- first, the work by a Russian organization, the Internet Research Agency (IRA), to "conduct disinformation and social media operations"

Now that special counsel Robert Mueller has completed his investigation, it is tempting to breathe a sigh of relief and assume that our long national nightmare is over. Resist the temptation, the assumption is false. We are not close to the end. Not by a long shot. In fact, I believe the last two years, as traumatic as they were, will prove to be the easier part of the nightmare, because Mueller dealt only with whether Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign conspired with Russia to swing the election. Based on what we know so far, especially that no more indictments are coming,
