Don´t sleep on "Spartacus"
Power Line, by Paul Mirengoff

Original Article

Posted By:Pluperfect, 2/11/2019 5:00:06 AM

In every presidential election cycle, there’s a sleeper — a candidate not expected to get far who catches fire. Sometimes that candidate goes all the way. Barack Obama and Donald Trump did. Other times the candidate falls short, but only after exceeding expectations and, to one degree of another, giving more heralded candidates a scare. Examples are Howard Dean, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, and Bernie Sanders. Sen. Cory Booker might be this year’s sleeper. I say this for several reasons. First, he’s the “blackest” member of the Democratic field, at least so far. Kamala Harris is only half black.

Fourth, Booker is the “hopiest” candidate in the field. His message is relentlessly optimistic.

Unless they´re backed up by common sense and an achievable plan, hope and optimism are a foundation of quicksand.

I wouldn´t think of sleeping on ´Spartacus´ Booker.

But if I run into him on the streets, can I pee on him (or at least his shoes), instead?

I´ve been saying all along that any charlatan with a nice-sounding message will win over the majority of Americans (if you need proof, refer to the previous president).

Boy, are we ever ripe for the Anti-Christ!!!

Booker is about as empty-headed as a bronzed baby shoe. He really has no depth- what once was called "Gravitas" in an era gone by. He is nothing but a walking encyclopedia of talking points he has learned over the years. He is a flaming racist, very much like his idol, Maxine Watters. And he literally has no true joy in him. He imagines himself to be a slave-warrior- a tell given by his "Spartacus" moment. He has accomplished absolutely nothing other than getting himself elected in an equally shallow electorate- But, the big show, a national election, will show his innate imbecility, his almost record shalowness and his lack of ability to understand the more complex ideas of true governance. He is the equivalent of a Maduro "Bus Driver" type who thinks success can come from being a hater of all things he wants other people to hate. Unfortunately, that is not how a prosperous nation´s electorate works. When the primary season really gets underway and he has to stand the tests phase, he will implode like a badly overused shopping bag. Radicalism only works in a room full of other radicals. It is not going to play well in the heartland.

With the obvious exception of POTUS 44, there are a few must haves to win the nomination and then the general election - intelligence, courage, leadership and charisma. Booker seems awfully lacking on all counts. He is following in the Kenyan´s footsteps of being a poster child of affirmative action. IMO he is too stupid to be devious - which is a sine qua non of the Democrat nomination.

The left wants another Obama, and Cory Booker is the one that comes closest. Its early yet, but think this he is the front runner.

Agree with #7. Never underestimate your foe. Nobody gave Obama a chance early on. What the last two Presidents have shown is people do not want business as usual in Washington. That is how we got Obama and Trump.

Sure, never underestimate the depths of depravity to which dems and their ilk will sink. That´s a given.

However, we "did" a Black president with BO already. Check.

As to all Booker´s "hopiness", it hasn´t been long enough for the voters to remember all BO´s hopiness and absolute failure to deliver. Plus it is easy to point to Trump actually delivering jobs and tax breaks to Blacks. There is a growing percentage of Blacks that are "woke" to this reality and the certitude of a solid Black vote for dems may no longer exist.

One blinding thing to remember, Booker is the guy who said "I am Spartacus!". This is a president?

In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled to drastically curb the powers that states and cities have to levy fines and seize property, marking the first time the court has applied the Constitution’s ban on excessive fines at the state level. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who returned to the court for the first time in almost two months after undergoing surgery for lung cancer, wrote the majority opinion in the case involving an Indiana man who had his Land Rover seized after he was arrested for selling $385 of heroin. “Protection against excessive fines has been a constant shield

Who would have thought that, this deep into the Russia collusion probe, we´d be learning about yet another dossier connected to Hillary Clinton? And, as it turns out, it was sort of a family secret. By his own account, senior Department of Justice (DOJ) official Bruce Ohr played an essential — and unorthodox — role, carrying politically tainted allegations of Donald Trump-Russia collusion to the FBI during the 2016 election. First, it was unverified intelligence starting in July 2016 from Trump-hating former British spy Christopher Steele, the author of the infamous Russia dossier.

U.S. District Judge John Robert Blakey, who was nominated to the federal bench by Obama in 2014, ruled that Protect Our Parks has standing to sue the city because it represents taxpayers with concerns that providing land in Jackson Park to the Obama center violates their due process rights. Did you notice how, during the Andrew McCabe interview with "60 Minutes," the former FBI acting director kept talking about “articulable facts?” Like ex-CIA boss John Brennan and disgraced former FBI Director James Comey, McCabe was coining his own phrase to explain why the intelligence community started spying the Trump team. But the justification for mounting a probe should not lie in weasel words. It belongs in something known in law enforcement circles as “Paragraph One.” Paragraph One in federal investigations lays out precisely why the investigation began and how. You can’t skip over it with fanciful phrases or empty verbiage.

Last week, there was the pitiful scene of Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York begging President Trump to restore a tax provision which unfairly benefitted New Yorkers. It seems that many high-income New Yorkers have been moving their tax homes to Florida, undermining the New York tax base. Those who live in New York City may be paying state and local income tax rates, in addition to the federal tax, of over 12 percent, giving some an overall tax burden of approximately 50 percent. Florida imposes no state and local income taxes in addition to the federal income tax —

Andrew McCabe’s book is titled The Threat: How the FBI Protects America in the Age of Terror and Trump, as if to say Trump is part of the terror. The real upshot of the book is that the politicized ranks of the FBI under James Comey and McCabe were too afflicted with Trump Derangement Syndrome to protect America from real threats. Those ranks took their eyes off real threats and concocted a phony one about Trump and Russia, behaving like members of a cult who turned to retaliation after their dear leader fell in a wholly justified firing.

Hoda Muthana, a 24-year old American woman who left the US to join ISIS 5 years ago, is really sorry and wants to come home. We shouldn’t let her. It should be obvious that when someone takes up arms against their country that they have committed treason and should never be allowed to return. Yet our friends across the pond are proving obvious it isn’t. Britain is having a raging debate about whether they should allow back their own homegrown terrorist, Shamima Begum, who ran away to join ISIS four years ago.

The U.S. Transportation Department announced Tuesday it would attempt to cancel $929 million in federal grant funds for California’s troubled high-speed rail project. The move marks an escalation in the war between President Trump and California in the days since Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a rethinking of the bullet train project after years of cost overruns. The Transportation Department also announced it was “actively exploring every legal option to seek the return from California of $2.5 billion in federal funds.” It’s unclear whether it has the legal authority to do so, and California would probably oppose such a move.In a
