Best and worst moments
from Grammy Awards 2019

New York Post, by Chuck Arnold

After a one-year stint in New York, the Recording Academy returned to Los Angeles’ Staples Center for Grammys 2019, the 61st annual edition of music’s biggest night. Still, the Big Apple was represented by New York’s own Alicia Keys helming the festivities as the first female host in 14 years. And the big winner was country-pop star Kacey Musgraves, who brought home four gramophones, including Album of the Year for “Golden Hour.” But as always, it was mostly about the performances. (Yes, Janelle! No, Jennifer!) From moving acceptance speeches to rousing live sets,

My personal best moment: all night. Didn’t watch. Didn’t even know they were on. And reading the article, I know about 3 of the performers. Besides, they don’t make “artists”’ like they used to.

"Awards" shows are just fashion shows and narcissistic envy fests. No desire to watch--no talent to see.

I miss the days of the Eagles, Chicago, Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, and Pat Benatar.

What disguises itself as music is no worth the time. I couldn´t get back those hours of my life. Same goes for the Oscars.

These award shows are just a gathering of people who think they are special. They start and finish their shows congratulating themselves. They couldn´t hold a candle to the stars of yesteryear. Also they would have worn clothes that covered the essential parts of their bodies.
I think those times were referred to as glamorous. There is nothing glamorous about Hollyweird today. All skin, all tight, all see-through, tons of cleavage and an assumption that only sex sells. No talent required.

It’s too early to take away any clear lessons from the Trump era, except one: Whatever you do, never fire the FBI director. Yes, as president, it is fully within your power to cashier inferior executive branch officers. But if the aftermath of the James Comey firing is any indication, it risks backlash from FBI and Justice Department officials who will take umbrage — and extraordinary steps in response. This is the upshot of the “60 Minutes” interview with former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

As for the remaining 4 scenes ... we´re told he´s no longer the focus. The scene features an ensemble, meaning he´s flanked by a number of cast members. With his duties pared down,

The race for the Democratic presidential nomination has barely commenced, but already Margaret Sullivan, the Washington Post’s media columnist, is whining about “sexist” coverage of female candidates. As evidence she mentions the “mocking” of Kirsten Gillibrand’s uncertainty about how to eat fried chicken. However, candidates of both genders are routinely mocked when they eat “down home” food in an uptown manner. It happened to Donald Trump and John Kasich in 2016 and Mitt Romney in 2012. Sullivan ignores this history. Sullivan notes that Kamala Harris’ “long-ago love life has been parsed.”

OTTAWA — The top political adviser to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada resigned on Monday, deepening a political crisis over allegations the government tried to interfere in a criminal court case. In a statement announcing his departure, Gerald Butts, who has been a close friend of Mr. Trudeau’s since their university days, linked his leaving to the allegations that he, the prime minister and others improperly pressured Jody Wilson-Raybould, when she was the justice minister and attorney general, to quash the criminal prosecution of a major Canadian engineering and construction company.

The report said the number is based off a Department of Health and Human Services figure on what qualifies as affordable child care. The plan is still being worked on,

The U.S. Transportation Department announced Tuesday it would attempt to cancel $929 million in federal grant funds for California’s troubled high-speed rail project. The move marks an escalation in the war between President Trump and California in the days since Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a rethinking of the bullet train project after years of cost overruns. The Transportation Department also announced it was “actively exploring every legal option to seek the return from California of $2.5 billion in federal funds.” It’s unclear whether it has the legal authority to do so, and California would probably oppose such a move.In a

But there is a bright and shiny silver lining to this dingy cloud of deep state skullduggery: Donald Trump still resides in the White House while Hillary Clinton stumbles around her Chappaqua mansion in a muumuu hugging a fifth of Glenfiddich.
