Ocasio-Cortez: ´There´s no debate´
that fossil fuel production should stop

Fox News, by Lauren Lee

Democratic House candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez rallied an audience of supporters in Washington Thursday evening with calls to implement single-payer health care and tuition-free college – along with an appeal to stop fossil fuel production entirely. Ocasio-Cortez, who is running to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District, has made no secret of her opposition to fossil fuels. She’s called for politicians to forsake donations from the industry and is pushing a “Green New Deal” plan which entails a shift to 100 percent renewable energy by 2035.

Comments:
Bicycle, sailboat, and roller-skate manufacturers are toasting the future with champagne tonite on this announcement! On the other hand, say goodbye to cheap plentiful power, plastics, tires, paved roads, TVs, iPhones....yeaaaah.

My short and long term memory are pretty good and I never remember us (as a nation) ever having any of the discussions / debates that supposedly proved beyond reasonable doubt that whatever leftists want is true and confirmed by unassailable facts so logical that these matters have been settled forever into the future.

Yep, truly an ignorant fool-of-a-politician (sorry to repeat myself) ... "There´s no debate"?! A recent article from Powerline by Hinderacker shows us that, contrary to popular belief, there has been NO TRANSITION to alternative fuels and that WE RELY on fossil fuels to keep our world going! Ignoramuses like Cortez have no clue but that does not stop them from bloviating-for-votes. So what can we say about her ardent supporters?

Her intellect and political acumen has already outgrown the 14th Congressional district. She should take her message nation-wide. If she could only get Beto! to endorse this plank of the platform, the voters in Texas would certainly respond. If she wins the 14th and gets "inaugurated", she should "sign into law" the shut down of all of the pipelines (liquid hydrocarbon and natural gas) and truck deliveries of fossil fuels within her district; surely other districts would follow her brave, inspiring lead. After all, most fossil fuels are brought to market by old white men.

Fossil fuels aren´t the bad guy. Back in the ´70´s, during Carter´s energy shortage, many men came up with engines that could get three and four times the mileage they were getting then, and now! Oil companies bought them out. And I´ve always wondered why steam engines won´t work in cars. They did on boats long ago. Anyway, oil/gas can be used and adapted to pollute less. We have the technology. I feel sure it will turn up in our cars one day.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi might want to confiscate someone’s selfie stick. CNN’s Jim Acosta was mocked across social media on Thursday for posting a video that was meant to downplay President Trump´s claims of a border crisis -- but ended up supporting his argument that border barriers improve security. “Here are some of the steel slats that the president’s been talking about,” Acosta said while reporting from the southern border. “But as we’re walking along here, we’re not seeing any kind of imminent danger.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Wednesday asked President Donald Trump to reschedule his State of the Union address — or deliver it in writing — as long as the government remains shut down. "Sadly, given the security concerns and unless government re-opens this week, I suggest that we work together to determine another suitable date after government has re-opened for this address or for you to consider delivering your State of the Union address in writing to the Congress on January 29th," Pelosi wrote in a letter to Trump.

In the past two months, Ruth Bader Ginsburg has fractured three ribs and had two cancerous nodules removed from her left lung. She was absent from oral argument last week and will miss this week’s arguments as well. Doctors say they expect her to be back on the bench in February, and until then she will review transcripts from her home and participate in the court’s decision-making remotely. But her return to work has not quieted critics who say that Ginsburg should have retired long ago and that her health issues are the latest evidence that justices should not be

A family dubbed Britain’s "first transgender family" has announced that they are encouraging the gender transition of their five-year-old son, Jayden. According to the family, Jayden, a biological male, likes dresses and hates "everything about being a boy." The little boy´s "step-dad," Greg Rogers, is a 27-year-old biological female who now identifies as a male. The child’s mother is a 21-year-old woman named Jody. Both Jodi and Greg are furious that concerned citizens (referred to as “trolls” by many U.K.-based outlets) have reported them to social services for apparent child abuse. The couple, however, maintain Jayden — who is on

It’s tough to tell. Does this make the shutdown a bug … or a feature? Nancy Pelosi has asked Donald Trump to put off his State of the Union speech to the joint session of Congress until after the funding issues have been resolved: (Copy of Letter/Tweet) And with that, the new Speaker of the House just made the best case possible for a perpetual shutdown. Kidding! What I meant to say was that Nancy Pelosi has finally sounded a note of wisdom, at least in her reminder that presidents used to just deliver a report in writing to Congress.

For the last 35 years, the snowpack in the West’s mountains has resisted the impacts of global warming. But that could soon change, according to a new study out of Oregon State University. The study, published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, found that although climate change should have caused a steep decrease in snowpack, naturally occurring, decades-long weather variations shielded the Cascades, Sierras and Rockies from some of the effects. Although snow stations have recorded some decline, it hasn’t been statistically significant. But according to the study, without this natural weather variation, snowpack in Oregon could have declined

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) announced on Tuesday that she will form a 2020 presidential exploratory committee, a precursor to officially seeking the Democratic nomination. “I’m filing an exploratory committee for the president of the United States tonight," she said during a taped interview on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. (Snip) Gillibrand mentioned health care, better public schools, taking on institutional racism, and "corruption and greed in Washington" as motivators and goals for her run, noting that her progressive goals cannot be accomplished without confronting those impediments. "I know that I have the compassion, courage, and the fearless determination

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke recently questioned the modern-day relevance of the U.S. Constitution and whether the country should still be governed by “the same principles that were set down 230-plus years ago.” “I think that’s the question of the moment: Does this still work?” Mr. O’Rourke asked during a taped conversation with two friends, which he aired to thousands in response to President Trump’s Oval Office address to the American people about the border wall, The Washington Post reported Tuesday. “Can an empire like ours with military presence in over 170 countries around the globe, with trading relationships

Attorney General nominee William Barr said he told President Trump that Robert Mueller is a “straight shooter” when the president once quizzed him about the special counsel’s integrity. Barr, testifying at a Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing on Tuesday, said he talked to Trump about joining the president’s defense team last summer. “He said, ‘Oh you know Bob Mueller, how well do you know Bob Mueller?´” Barr told the panel. He replied that the Barrs and the Muellers were good friends and would remain so even after the investigation was completed. “And he was interested in that, wanted to know
