What Do We Have In Common?
Cybercast News, by Ben Shapiro

Original Article

America stands at a precipice. It´s a moral precipice of our own making: We´re not facing any external existential threat, or any serious economic crisis. Nonetheless, we´re at each other´s throats in a shocking and unique way. At least in the 1960s, serious issues divided us: the national attempt to grapple with legally enshrined racism, the sexual revolution, the Vietnam War. We have no such excuse now. Yet to view the sheer chaos surrounding the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh is to realize that we may simply have nothing in common anymore, other than our sheer blind luck at having been

We don´t share religion, culture, education, entertainment, news, the value of the Constitution, or even love of country. How do you live with such vacuous idiocy, ready violence, and America-hatred?

Apparently there is one thing both sides can agree on...the character of our leaders doesn´t matter as long as results are achieved.

The left has taught lies and half truths to many, and that leaves us who know real history with little in common with the ignorant and misinformed.

Teach your children and grandchildren the truth, keep them out of government schools where they learn these lies.

Teach them about American history and American greatness, there are many warts, but there are also many pinnacles of success.

Defeat the left with truth, and if they insist on violence, we will defend ourselves and our country.

At least 10 percent of our population is immigrant, a large number of those illegally in our country. Let´s start there, because a goodly number do not support the United States in any fashion except as an economic engine, whether to hang drywall or peddle drugs. Anything beats a shack back in Mexico or Pakistan. An American concept of "Liberty" is generally meaningless to these people.

Americans are bombarded constantly by propaganda for "causes". Some is subtle. (Notice the number of mixed race families/individuals portrayed in commercials for everything from soap to insurance to mattresses to vacations to...?)

I can´t read a magazine (AARP or even Costco) without finding a number of political messages on the cover and inside, from the Sally Field cover story to the small business advice "be socially responsible" column.

Take a notebook with you and just make a mark for every bit of propaganda you recognize over a day. TV, radio, print, billboards and placards...whatever medium. You will be surprised...or not.

I’m a glutton for punishment which leads me to talk to left leaning people, mostly the younings at work. It’s easy to lead them into agreeing with a great deal.

They don’t want government to run their lives and associate the “Right” with support for religion and fear that someone will tell them to keep their naughty bits to themselves until marriage or worse yet make them go to church.

As absurd as it sounds they also think the “Right” stands for no government, which you and I would call anarchy, because of our position on taxes. They think we stand for rich fat cats who magically pay no taxes. They think the Right stands for what we would call crony capitalism, or as I see it, fascism, to an extent at least. Of course we don’t like it any more than they do but we see that as a byproduct of abandoning constitutional principles and a government grown way out of its intended legal constraints. They think of that as the natural result of capitalism.

They aren’t any more pleased than we with the corruption in big finance, but they are clueless as the role that the Community Reinvestment Act played. They can’t fathom that we would support the Graham Steagall act because we stand for no regulation by virtue of our position against over and mis-regulation.

They’ll even spout off about seeing all the free stuff going to illegals where their kids go. Some will even confess to enjoying shooting.

But how to achieve the things they want is a complete disconnect. Our challenge is to teach that most of what they dislike is the result of government and that the answer is not more government.

What they are not taught is that a people who become majority extremely liberals believing that socialism will force government to redistribute the wealth to everyone to make people equals always turns into Communism or some other form of tyranny that will rule with an iron fist over everyone.

Federal judge in Texas strikes

A federal judge in Texas struck down the Affordable Care Act on Friday night, ruling that former President Barack Obama´s signature domestic legislation has fallen down like a losing game of "Jenga." But the White House said that with the ruling expected to be appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, the law will remain in place for now. U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor in Fort Worth sided with the argument put forward by a coalition of Republican-leaning states, led by Texas, that Obamacare could no longer stand now that there´s no penalty for Americans who don´t buy insurance.

Another day, another avalanche of news about the President: berating Democratic leaders on camera; unceremoniously announcing the departure of his chief of staff; calling his former Secretary of State “dumb as a rock.” It never lets up. Trump is a ubiquitous, suffocating presence in American life. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. The modern presidency is the framers’ worst nightmare, a flatly unconstitutional concentration of power. As the Trump era has made abundantly clear, the office itself — its size, scope, and prominence in American life — is the driving force of dysfunction in our politics.

A deal in which President Trump accepts an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in exchange for minor border wall funding would be counterproductive to the “America First” goals of the administration, depressing U.S. wages in the process ahead of the 2020 election. There is no real reason we are witnessing the magazine’s demise other than deep pettiness and a personal desire for bureaucratic revenge on the part of a penny-ante Machiavellian who works for its parent company. There would at least be a larger meaning to the Standard’s end if it were being killed because it was hostile to Donald Trump. But I do not believe that is the case.
