Kavanaugh coping mechanisms:
5 wild Dem schemes to

Fox News, by Adam Shaw

After failing to block the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, Democrats and allies in the media are shifting course to float a range of ideas -- some far-fetched -- to curb the rightward shift of the court. They range from packing the bench with more justices to overhauling the Constitution itself. Here´s a look at some of the strategies that have taken off in the opinion pages, social media-sphere and cable talk circuit. Packing the Court President Franklin Delano Roosevelt once famously threatened to expand the Supreme Court to as many as 15 justices after the court ruled against

FTA: Newsweek, meanwhile, noted Kavanaugh is the “fourth Supreme Court justice nominated by [a] president who didn’t win the popular vote” -- referring to Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch under Trump, and John Roberts and Samuel Alito, under former President George W. Bush.

Actually, they are the fifth and sixth - Ginsberg and Breyer were nominated by Bill Clinton who never won the popular vote. His first election he won with only 43% of the popular vote. The second was higher percentage, but still less than 50%.

Let´s see. Packing the court requires a Democrat President and a Democrat Senate. Constitutional change require 75% of the states to agree and the small states want no part of eliminating the Electoral College.

Impeachment requires some crime and 67% of the Senate to be Democrat.

The Mconnell Rule is really the Biden Rule!

The lipsticked Puerto Rican is wrong again.
When the 1787 constitutional convention was held, the other states were concerned that Virginia, the largest state, with a large slave population, would dominated the proposed United States.
A compromise was reached, creating a bicameral congress, with one representing districts by population, the other with two senators each. And slaves were counted as 3/5 of a person in calculating Representatives. Those were limiting factors for Virginia.
The electoral college, as part of that debate, created seats based on representatives plus senators from each state.
I have to wonder if the lipsticked Puerto Rican ever went to class while at Boston university.f

Insane ideas 1-4 are just plain impossible from any even remotely sane look at the required votes in Congress and the State Legislatures. Impossible.

#5 will not happen either, McConnell has already told us about this. He said, when asked specifically about this situation, "when a President of the opposite party of Congress appoints a Supreme Court justice in a Presidential election year, it should be delayed until after the election." (my italics). Trump is not of the opposite party of Congress, so that option is CLOSED, unless they take both houses this November. That will not happen, I will bet $1000.

Too bad the reporters don´t pay attention, or are just uninformed. McConnell has already closed that door. They WILL scream, as will the Enemedia, but he has pointed out what the difference is, and my bet is he will be just as firm on this as he was on Garland.

Big middle finger to the Dems.

We won. Get used to it. We will win again this November.

Laugh. Go on. Snort and retweet with the crying-eyes emoji. Steve Lukather has heard all the jokes. Heck, he was often the first one telling them. “Self-deprecation is my game,” the Toto guitarist said. “We don’t mind if people make fun of us and s--- like that. We’ve had to develop a super-thick skin. We’ve been beaten up more than any band in history.” But this new thing? The thing that happened this summer, that once again thrust his band of 40 years back into the viral spotlight? “This thing has come so out of left field to us,” he said. “I never could have written this, or planned any of it.” If you don’t know what Lukather is talking

Tom Friedman has an idea. Writing in the New York Times about the proper response to the murder of Jamal Kashoggi he argues that the West should aim at reforming Islam in Saudi Arabia. His strategic goal is not regime change but civilization change across the wider Islamic world. (Snip) Unfortunately Friedman´s plan to reform Saudi Islam maybe as feasible as drilling rock with wet spaghetti. Experience suggests Islam may be far more likely to gain in the West than vice versa. That tendency to lose ground in fact drives the fear that underpins the populist revolt.

Few foods offer as much room for debate than pizza. Whether it´s New York thin vs. Chicago deep-dish, plain cheese vs. all sorts of toppings, soft or crispy crust ... there are no shortage of opinions on what we like, or don´t. TripAdvisor offered its views of the best pizza restaurants in the country, and while New York can claim one big victory, it fell short of the ultimate prize -- the best pizzeria in the land. That honor goes to Regina Pizzeria, a "Little Italy" fixture in Boston´s North End since 1926. According to TripAdvisor´s reviewer, the restaurant´s brick ovens

These days more than ever we hear people talking about hate. The media in particular obsesses over so-called "hate crimes." The logic behind this fear is that incidents motivated by hatred over religion, gender, class, or any other distinction are somehow worse than crimes committed over money, love, or any other number of factors. And, of course, we know that too many elements of our society brand mere differences of opinion as hate. Advocates of traditional marriage often receive the brand of "hater" because they believe in a particular definition of wedlock, even though these people may have never expressed

German populism goes pop in Bavaria: After staging a high-profile fight over immigration against Chancellor Merkel, the Bavarian Christian Social Union got crushed in Sunday´s state elections. It got 37% of the vote, the lowest in his history. The biggest winner wasn´t the Alternative fuer Deutschland (AfD), the right-wing populist party, but the ultra-left Greens, who won 17% of the vote vs. 10% for AfD. The Greens are now the second biggest party, surpassing the Social Democrats. The Greens are also the most pro-immigration party in Germany. Nearly everybody loves music. In fact, music can often bridge the gaps between people when nothing else can. And there are few things more fun than seeing people react to hit songs. There’s definitely no formula to what constitutes a hit song, although some songs were natural hits from the first time they made their way on the radio – think about songs like “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” or “Irreplaceable.” Other tunes become smashes inexplicably. But there’s a whole different category of hits: overrated songs. Some singles have no business being popular or well-loved, and

The once-enormously-popular two-term president and the party’s 2016 standard-bearer are the living embodiments of two of the Democrats’ biggest problems: hypocrisy about the #MeToo movement, which they believe they can exploit politically, and contempt for the working-class voters who cost the party the last presidential election.
