Kavanaugh Needs No Defense
Weekly Standard, by Editorial

Original Article

Posted By:garnet, 9/14/2018 12:16:29 PM

Every time a conservative jurist is nominated to the Supreme Court, he’s accused of perpetrating some heinous deed or harboring some reprehensible opinion. Neil Gorsuch was a plagiarist. Sam Alito was a racist and a sexist. John Roberts supported abortion clinic bombers. Clarence Thomas liked to talk about weird sex to female subordinates. Robert Bork was one of the worst people who ever lived. Brett Kavanaugh was subjected to some of the most mindlessly tendentious treatment we’ve ever witnessed in a Senate confirmation hearing. Particularly memorable was Cory Booker’s demand that Kavanaugh explain a 16-year-old email on racial profiling

This is the latest in a long line of bogus attempts to assure the democrats get their looney ways and Republicans hide in a hole in fear and shame.

I can´t believe even one person with a sane mind (democrat, republican, independent--whatever) would vote for a democrat in November.

These people are deranged, vindictive, and liars. And on top of that, they allow (even invite) themselves to be pawns of real foreign agents (i.e., George Soros).

We´re living in an alternate universe from the USA I grew up in. I´m so sorry for our children and grandchildren.

MAGA!!! KAG!!!

I would like to see any one of those grilling Brett Kavanaugh to pass the smell test. Feinstein is desparate. Looks as if she will do or say anything to keep her seat. She messed up big time and deserves to be put out to pasture with Hillary.

It´s not only Supreme Court justices they smear and slander. The attacks and lies told about Charles Pickering and Janice Rodgers Brown were just as bad or worse. Unfounded character assassination is standard operating procedure for these people. The sad thing is it´s not enough for their most vicious supporters. They want blood.

The Weekly Standard doesn´t descibe the situation properly.
A female, presumably 50ish, told someone at Stanford about something involving Kavanaugh. The Stanford person wrote a letter to a congresswoman from California, in july, and the congresswoman gave it to Diane Lousystein.
Lousystein, under great pressure from the far left to delay or stop Kavanaugh´s nomination,
sat on the letter for two months.
Now, in an attempt to pimp herself out, Lousystein now sent the letter to the FBI.
And even the Federal Buglers of Invention couldn´t keep a straight face.
This is a joke of great proportions.

Feinstein had a Chinese Communist SPY on her staff for 20 years. Brennan was an avowed Communist. Obama was literally raised by a Communist (when he wasn’t in Indonesia). Hillary’s husband had peculiar trips to Communist Soviet Moscow as a schoolboy. John Kerry sided with the Communist enemy during Vietnam. THEY are the ones who should have been vetted at this level.

This headline is partly why we are in the current climate at the moment. The sludge being peddled by the Left needs to be stomped on by every decent person in this nation who is as disgusted as we here are.

In a perfect world, this nominee would not need a defense. But unfortunately, the Left´s toxic infection has been left unchecked and it needs to be dealt with. Hopefully in November some of the worst offenders will be booted from office. I am very proud of these women today who came to Kavanaugh´s defense. This needs to happen every time the Left pulls sleaze out of their playbook. Make them live by their own rules. They hate that.

There is a fight now for the soul of the Democratic Party. That fight runs through the contest for the next speaker of the House, between former speaker and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of California and the former chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus, Rep. Marcia Fudge of Ohio. While only as many as 20 incoming and incumbent House Democrats have said that they will oppose Pelosi, this maneuvering within the party does raise the possibility, under the arcane voting rules by which representatives can vote for a candidate or simply vote as present, that Pelosi may be denied

As expected, Democrats regained control of the House of Representatives. But the much-anticipated "blue wave" failed to appear. History shows that the first midterm election for the party in the White House usually results in a loss, often a big loss, in that party´s House members. President Barack Obama, for example, lost 63 seats in the House and 6 seats in the Senate in the 2010 midterms. (Snip) The 2018 GOP House lost seats, more than the 23 seats Democrats needed to flip, but not nearly the thumping the Democrats hoped for.

What do Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, Stacey Abrams, and Bill Nelson have in common? Each asked the voters for important positions of leadership and promptly proved themselves unworthy of those offices when the answer was “No.” It isn’t necessary, of course, to revisit Gore’s reluctant acceptance of reality or Clinton’s querulous hypocrisy. The tawdry details of those episodes are well known. But the long-term harm they wrought on the republic merits consideration. The extent of that damage was demonstrated Friday, when Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams finally admitted that the laws of mathematics could not be overcome by frivolous lawsuits.

Sen. Bill Nelson has run out of time, run out of favorable court rulings and is about to officially run out of votes. After losing to Gov. Rick Scott on Election Day, losing after an automatic recount and appearing to not make up the gap following a manual recount Friday, Nelson’s campaign was dealt a mortal blow later that evening by U.S. District Judge Mark E. Walker, who crushed the Democrat’s last major hope by upholding a Florida law that forbids county election offices from counting vote-by-mail ballots received after 7 p.m. Election Day.“It’s done.

Sen. Bill Nelson has no viable path to winning a recount of ballots in Florida’s U.S. Senate race, but he´s still refusing to concede. Nelson, a Democrat who has held the seat since 2000, remains about 12,600 votes behind Republican Gov. Rick Scott after a machine recount concluded Thursday. Neither an ongoing hand recount nor an extended deadline for rejected mail-in ballots is likely to produce enough votes to put Nelson on top. But he’s not giving up.“I truly believe we can win this race together,” Nelson told supporters in a fundraising email Friday.

A truer examination of a serious American problem could not be had. In his new book, Ship of Fools: How a Selfish Ruling Class Is Bringing America to the Brink of Revolution, Tucker Carlson gets to the heart of the seriously bad situation that confronts America. Ship of Fools is, says the opening flap of the book, “the story of the new American elites, a group whose power and wealth has grown beyond imagination even as the rest of the country has withered. The people who run America now barely interact with it.

Years ago, years and years ago, actually, while attending basic training for the U.S. Army, one of my drill sergeants allowed a couple of the female recruits to cheat on the firearms’ range test and to report more targets than they actually hit. The awareness that even drill sergeants cheat came as a bit of a shock at the time, not because I was particularly naive — not because my own past was so polly pure that it made it inconceivable to picture anybody cheating — but because, well, these were drill sergeants, for crying out loud.

Just hours after Jeff Sessions resigned as attorney general last Wednesday at the president’s behest, #TheResistance found its newest target for destruction: Sessions’ interim replacement, Matthew Whitaker. Negative coverage about the acting attorney general has dominated national publications and cable news outlets. Reporters have portrayed Whitaker as a Trump lackey, a crackpot, and an “attack dog”; Democratic leaders are demanding that he recuse himself from overseeing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation; on Tuesday, incoming House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) warned that if Whitaker fails to step aside from the probe, “his actions will be exposed.”

Tuesday evening Hillary Clinton told a crowd that Stacey Abrams, the apparent loser in Georgia’s recent gubernatorial election, would have won the race if not for Republican chicanery. She claimed—without evidence, to use a term much beloved of the media lately—that the “people on the other side” were guilty of undermining the rights of Georgia voters: Stacey is really in the arena and she is fighting for the right to vote and have your vote counted … If she had a fair election, she already would have won.

A frequent complaint from reasonable Americanos is that political races and the annoying campaigns that accompany them last waaaay too long. Sometimes it seems they’re a permanent feature of our public landscape. Now it has become reasonable to object that election vote counting is too lengthy and tortuous as well. Take what’s happening in Florida. Please. The Middle Ages eventually ended. So do the NBA playoffs. Heck, even Fidel Castro’s speeches came to their exhausting ends. But will the Florida elections? Who will be first in with their results and conclusions? Florida or the Mueller investigation?

The Australian marsupial can pass up to 100 deposits of poop a night and they use the piles to mark territory. The shape helps it stop rolling away.
