News Shocker: Media fact-checks
Barack Obama, at least this once

Hot Air, by Andrew Malcolm

One of the things the mainstream media never quite got around to during Barack Obama’s brief 2,922 days in office was fact-checking his every public comment. Probably just an oversight. However, during Donald Trump’s endless 601 days in office the media have rediscovered their watchdog conscience. [Snip] The ex-president is hitting the midterm campaign trail — and the sitting president by name — from Illinois to California with Florida yet to come. And — wait for it — the Associated Press has now devoted an entire article to fact-checking him

WOW. If BO is just getting himself rolled out and the AP is already willing to point out his continual fables and falsehoods, BO is in serious trouble.

It´s not like the AP is a real news source but some on the medium Left might read it and (horrors) get the truth. The Left cannot afford any truth getting into their news stream.

Can you imagine an AP reporter actually asking BO a real question?

As predicted, GOP tax cuts prompt

Remember when Democrats mocked last year’s tax-cut legislation? And Nancy Pelosi called the tax breaks for Americans “crumbs”? But President Trump and congressional Republicans said they would ignite a booming economy and actually increase federal tax collections from greater economic activity including more consumer spending, business investments, higher wages and even employee bonuses. Well, guess what? Just 47 weeks after Trump put his flamboyant signature on the bill, it’s all happening. Unemployment is at

The destructive power of these wildfire beasts surpasses words. But we’ll try. Take, for example, the Camp Fire in Northern California. It’s still raging beyond control, has wiped out one entire town, devastated two others, destroyed nearly 10,000 homes and burned 140,000 acres. That’s 219 square miles or about the size of the entire city of Chicago. Now the worst fire in state history, it’s not even half-contained. President Trump visits Saturday. Nancy Pelosi has confidently and perhaps preemptively declared herself the next Speaker of the House. She’d be the first speaker in six decades to regain the top House job with the larger office, paycheck and driver. Of course, it’s not true that she’s already won. The caucus vote isn’t until the end of the month. And enough Democrats have publicly said they want someone else. [Snip] The problem with this nascent rebel Dem caucus is that Pelosi has been a prodigious fundraiser for many members and the rebels had no alternative candidate. Until now.

What the midterm elections tell us about
the 2020 presidential campaign

Here’s what this month’s midterm elections can predict about the looming 2020 presidential election: nothing. [Snip] This time, Americans collectively tweaked in revealing ways the collection of politicians they dispatched to Talk City. Democrats did retake the House after eight years of powerlessness. But there was no blue wave. In fact, the Democrats’ gains of 30-plus seats were less than the 40 expected when a president’s job approval is below 50 percent. Pres. Trump mobilized nearly two out of three voters on both sides in what was hailed

There are places in this turbulent world where instead of a cute little sticker, people who dare to vote get murdered. Yet here we are in comfy America celebrating a record number of midterm voters whose number doesn’t even equal half of those eligible. Late numbers indicate 49 percent of those eligible cast their ballots in Tuesday’s midterm elections. That means 51 percent of Americans couldn’t be bothered exercising that precious right, even when 37 states allow mail-in ballots and advance voting, some states starting as early as late September. Just too, too busy for five weeks straight, right? So, congratulations laggards.

Americans want a House Speaker other than

This is probably the last chance Nancy Pelosi has to become the first former House speaker to regain the job in more than six decades. She’s vowed to do it. But then as the Democrats’ minority leader, she vowed to take back the House for four straight House elections. And she and her party failed every time, starting with the historic 2010 drubbing by Republicans, who seized 63 seats. This week Democrats elected enough Democrats to choose the next House Speaker. The 78-year-old says she wants the job again. Under the pressure of anti-Pelosi GOP ads, several dozen Democrat candidates vowed not to support her in the caucus election

Despite their best efforts, California’s governing Democrats have been unable to spur a sufficient exodus of its over-populated areas. Last year, new figures show, only 130,000 more people fled the state than entered it. And 142,000 the year before that. This has been going on for more than 15 years now. But it still hasn’t made a dent in the over-crowded conditions of the most populous state’s metropolitan areas or in its population of 39.6 million people. That total is still growing by the day because, babies. Apparently, the third largest state is

It’s not exactly Breaking News that talk-radio host and Fox News personality Sean Hannity likes President Trump a whole lot. Maybe more than that. So, it wasn’t surprising when Hannity showed up in Missouri at the end of Trump’s three-state, three #MAGA rally day. What was unexpected was Trump calling Hannity to the stage to say a few campaign words. Trump doesn’t normally like to share the rally spotlight. [Snip] But Trump will make an exception for celebrities who are there to like him. Hannity had tweeted his rally presence but said specifically he would not be speaking. So much for the 2018 midterm elections that cost in excess of $5 billion. President Trump’s name was not on any ballot, but you can be excused any confusion because he seemed to be everywhere.Lucky for Republicans he was. The 72-year-old threw himself mainly into Senate campaigns with dozens of rallies across the country where he knew he could energize that loyal base he forged in 2015-16. And it paid off. [Snip] The victories solidified today’s party of Lincoln as the party of Donald Trump. He helped enroll Senate newcomers now hugely beholden to this president. One of the most puzzling, enduring and intriguing questions about the Trump presidential phenomenon is how he maintains such a stubbornly loyal political base despite what a majority of Americans regard as overwhelming evidence of his inconsistencies and incompetence. [Snip] If Democrats or rebel Republicans really hope to defeat this man, they’d best spend less time denouncing and more studying his uncanny connections with supporters that are so far impervious to challenge while he continues delivering “promises kept.”

For many of us, politics is a fascinating spectator sport with human drama and ambition, races, big money, a chance to take part, secret results until the end and high stakes with real-life consequences. This year is full of all that, and more. The advent of a president who revels in controversy and roiling established methods and media adds spice. [Snip] This sets the now familiar Trumpian stage for a high-stakes big win or big loss. Which makes you want to stay tuned, right? After these important messages.

Now we know that all those annoying people who are always looking at the bright side of life may in fact be hurting themselves. It has been speculated that Mitt Romney’s Utah Senate seat could serve as a prelude to another Presidential run. In the most ambitious version of events, he could even challenge Donald Trump in the 2020 primaries, newly legitimized and augmented by his actions in the Capitol Building. This would allow moderate Republicans to reclaim their party’s mantle and unroot alt-right influences. But would Romney do it? His willingness to unequivocally challenge Trump could be seen either as a pro or con by Republicans, depending on their opinions of the sitting president.
