urges citizens to follow the Governor´s order

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston County Emergency Management is urging citizens who live in low-lying areas and are concerned about flooding to follow the Governor’s order and evacuate. The new release states that those needing assistance evacuating to a hurricane shelter can find transportation pickup points on Charleston County’s 2018 Hurricane Guide at Charlestoncounty.org. Buses will run until 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, according to officials. Depending on weather conditions, this may be the last opportunity for citizens to utilize County transportation to a shelter. If you plan to stay at a shelter be sure to bring all medications, food, water,

At this point it appears that in our area (Otranto--in Hanahan), flooding will be a larger problem than wind (although that could become a serious problem on the lengthy bridges over the rivers into the area).

Last evening, looking at webcams on I-26 around Charleston. Both sides turned to westbound, but really thin traffic.

Good luck folks. It looks like the rain is going to be the biggest deal.

A bit more traffic around Charleston, both sides of I-26 are west bound. You can see where they have shut down on ramps, turning cars the other way. Strange.

Still not any sort of heavy traffic.

No offense to the Carolinans but I am past caring if they leave or not. They have been warned and will make their own choices. The 24/7 gleeful breathless coverage of this by the cable news networks is over the top.

I worry about those late leaving who can´t find gas. One woman said all the stations are closed where she lives.

German growth slows in September as

BERLIN - German private sector growth slowed slightly more than expected in September, with a surprise surge in services activity not enough to offset a sharp slowdown in manufacturing, a survey showed on Friday. Markit’s flash composite Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), which tracks the manufacturing and services sectors that together account for more than two-thirds of the economy, fell to 55.3 from 55.6 the previous month. This undershot the consensus forecast in a Reuters poll of economists who had expected a slowdown to 55.4. Still, it was well above the 50 mark that separates growth from contraction. JACOB REES-MOGG has explained exactly why the Brexit date will not be delayed before he added that if Britain’s exit date from the European Union was pushed back it would be a “considerable failure of Government policy”. Prime Minister Theresa May travelled to the informal Salzburg summit on Wednesday where she attempted to sell her controversial Brexit blueprint to her European colleagues. Brussels chief Donald Tusk warned Mrs May’s Chequers plan will not work and risked undermining the European Union’s single market. Speaking after the summit, leading Brexit supporter and Conservative MP for North East Somerset was asked whether setbacks to Chequers

Ari Fuld is a heart-breaking loss, but Mahmoud Abbas walks the earth untouched. This makes no sense. The time to arrest him was last week. That’s when President Trump closed down the PLO’S office in Washington, D.C., a move that more than diminished the PLO, it delegalized that outfit. What was Benjamin Netanyahu waiting for? The timing would have been perfect to thank the U.S.A. for doing its part, and now, hello, it’s Israel’s turn to throw the bums out. Arrest, or deport, we’ve been saying that for years, and I guess there’s always been this reason or that for failure to do so.

BRITISH and French warplanes have been scrambled to intercept Russian bombers over the North Sea. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed the military jets had been dispatched to monitor the Blackjack bombers. The Russian aircraft were passing through a UK “area of interest” over the North Sea but were escorted away from the area by RAF fighters. Flight radar information shows the Russian aircraft took off from airbases south-east of Moscow before heading north around Finland and Sweden. At least one British fighter and a refuelling tanker were deployed shortly before 3pm. Images from airspace monitoring service Air Live shows the tanker circled

JERUSALEM - Israel said on Thursday it would not halt strikes on Syria but would do more to “deconflict” them with Russian forces, after Moscow accused it of “irresponsible and unfriendly actions” that led to Syrian ground fire mistakenly downing a Russian plane. Fifteen Russian crew were killed when the IL-20 surveillance plane crashed near Latakia in northern Syria on Monday. Russia has said Syria shot the plane down shortly after Israeli jets hit the area, and accused Israel of creating the dangerous conditions by failing to give sufficient advance notice. Although Russian President Vladimir Putin initially described the downing as

America has risen to the top the list of oil-producing countries for the first time in more than four decades, analysts believe. The US overtook Saudi Arabia for monthly crude oil production back in February and likely surpassed Russia some time in June or August, new data shows. It comes after the development of fracking led to a boom in shale oil production while massively reducing drilling costs. The figures are based on preliminary estimates published by the US Energy Information Administration last week. If confirmed, it would mark the first time since 1973 that the US has topped world rankings.

HMS ENDEAVOUR, the famous ship Captain James Cook used to navigate to Australia, may have been discovered off the US east coast and in what is described as a “hugely significant moment” world maritime history. The vessel was used by the captain when he reached Australian shores in 1770. Following it’s landing in Australia, the ship was then used by the British Royal Navy, under the name Lord Sandwich 2, during the war of independence in America, but was deliberately sunk by allowing water to flow into the hull off the coast of Newport, Rhode Island, in 1778. Watching the slow, public evisceration of U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh by Senate Democrats —on the strength of one unsubstantiated charge of alleged sexual aggression 36 years ago when Kavanaugh was in high school — a question comes to mind: Have you no sense of decency, Sen. Feinstein? Decency was once an important feature of the Democratic Party’s story. Long before Bork became a verb, long before Clarence Thomas was dragged through the mud because a conservative black man proved a profound threat to Democrats, the party held fast to the notion of decency.
