I support President Bush but the time for talk is over,it`s time to act.

Start the war now,end it,get it over with.

Got FOX News tuned in, and I'm ready.

God Bless President Bush, God Bless America!

Starting now - he looks good

Thanks Amy and crew

Reply 6 - Posted by: shadeau, 3/6/2003 8:04:17 PM

Well OBL is still free it appears

Reply 7 - Posted by: catbird, 3/6/2003 8:04:39 PM

I'm glad he could begin with good news.

Reply 8 - Posted by: Cato_the_elder, 3/6/2003 8:05:03 PM

"Fully and unconditionally" means "FULLY AND UNCONDITIONALLY" for you liberals out there, who parse the meaning of "is."

Reply 9 - Posted by: stlou, 3/6/2003 8:05:49 PM

IMHO, it will start tomorrow after Blix's report.

Reply 10 - Posted by: mwild, 3/6/2003 8:05:54 PM

I am going to rely on this thread for info because I am not going to be able to listen to the questions he will be asked without blowing a gasket.

Reply 11 - Posted by: plaid, 3/6/2003 8:06:19 PM

Blix is a fool. A total fool.

Reply 12 - Posted by: Zarin, 3/6/2003 8:07:01 PM

"Fully & unconditionally disamed!" That's it! He was right on time ... there before the newsies could stop blathering.
"Willful charade!"

May God bless & keep America, our President & our troops.

Reply 13 - Posted by: socaworld, 3/6/2003 8:07:39 PM

Our President is clear-speaking, clear-thinking, and clear-acting. God, I'm so proud of him, and so proud to be an American.

What a total contrast to the self-absorbed buffoon who was W's predecessor.

Reply 14 - Posted by: jammer, 3/6/2003 8:08:23 PM

no bin Laden - yet

Reply 15 - Posted by: amereagle, 3/6/2003 8:08:28 PM

I echo #13's thoughts.

Let Freedom ring!!

Reply 16 - Posted by: teegore, 3/6/2003 8:09:36 PM

W looks very serious tonight. I am praying for him. These are weighty matters indeed. The Butcher of Baghdad's weapons are a direct threat to our nation as well as others. Amen President Bush.

Reply 17 - Posted by: blue turtle, 3/6/2003 8:09:38 PM

Saying what he has always said...I don't need convincing...

Reply 18 - Posted by: Rat Patrol, 3/6/2003 8:09:44 PM

A true leader is speaking the truth...

Lets Roll...

Reply 19 - Posted by: CanadaCees, 3/6/2003 8:09:47 PM

I wish we had a leader like that in Canada!

Reply 20 - Posted by: Peaches, 3/6/2003 8:09:59 PM

GWB -- the greatness of this man grows and grows...

Reply 21 - Posted by: Proudvet, 3/6/2003 8:10:19 PM

I expect the next time I hear President Bush speak on Iraq, he will be saying, "The liberation of Irag has begun".
No doubt of it. This is the set up.
God bless him and our men at arms.

Reply 22 - Posted by: Tsarevna, 3/6/2003 8:10:45 PM

Dignity and real emotion.
He just made an excellent case for not caring about what the UN does.

Reply 23 - Posted by: KidRed, 3/6/2003 8:11:14 PM

Where is the idiot president I read about? This guy is smooth and compelling and honest.

Reply 24 - Posted by: plaid, 3/6/2003 8:11:22 PM

How many of those high school "students" that have been protesting all week do you think are watching this right now?

a. .0005%

b. .000255%

c. .0000001%

d. None

Reply 25 - Posted by: auntdot, 3/6/2003 8:11:33 PM

This is a pathetic speech.

Is GWB sick?

This talk is vapid and vacuous.

I, a staunch Republican, am very worried.

Reply 26 - Posted by: 78alfadriver, 3/6/2003 8:11:50 PM

The weight of the world on his shoulders

Reply 27 - Posted by: ladydawgfan, 3/6/2003 8:11:50 PM

I have to agree with #21. The hammer is about to fall.

Reply 28 - Posted by: Penelope, 3/6/2003 8:12:26 PM

PLEASE pray a hedge of protection around our President, our troops and our country. Prayer has power. Join the Presidential Prayer Team and keep this administration bathed in prayer all the time. Thanks.

Reply 29 - Posted by: BBanzai, 3/6/2003 8:12:57 PM

#25--The President is talking about a war. Perhaps you've never seen a serious president discuss a serious topic before.

Reply 30 - Posted by: bean, 3/6/2003 8:12:59 PM

Do you expect him to be perky?

Reply 31 - Posted by: jammer, 3/6/2003 8:13:25 PM

Nothing really new. Repeating what he has had to say over and over again.

It is amazing how the message must be repeated endlessly - mainly because our alphabet networks undermine his message at every turn.

"What harm would it do to give Saddam a final ultimatum?" An extra special last chance?

Reply 32 - Posted by: Midwest Mom, 3/6/2003 8:14:03 PM

#25 I think he's being serious and well-thought out. Pathetic, no way.

Reply 33 - Posted by: nosillod, 3/6/2003 8:14:47 PM

I don't see Helen Thomas. I hope she wasn't allowed in.

I think he is better speaking on his toes than giving a speach. It shows his heart better.

Reply 34 - Posted by: septum, 3/6/2003 8:15:05 PM

What a pathetic conference. Bush is fudging again. Nothing new. He repeats the same thing every day, and the world is not falling in line.
I was hoping he would tell us that war has begun.
If Sadaam knows that America will attack, he will unleash a barrage of chemical warhead against American troops in Kuwait, before the war begins.
I am so dissapointed with Bush, I am about to vomit.

Reply 35 - Posted by: kennowen, 3/6/2003 8:15:49 PM

Again the smokescreen of North Korea. We CAN do two things at once!

Reply 36 - Posted by: amereagle, 3/6/2003 8:16:38 PM

Major Komrade Klintoon smackdown!

Reply 37 - Posted by: KidRed, 3/6/2003 8:17:21 PM

Saddam would like us to take on N Korea simultaneously, thats why traitocrats keep insisting it is important to do it.

Reply 38 - Posted by: Tsarevna, 3/6/2003 8:18:13 PM

He totally dispelled another liberal lie, the one about Americans wanting dictators who will do their bidding rather than democracy.
Iraq will be a democracy. This man means what he says. There's nothing pathetic about that and no one listening objectively would think that.

Reply 39 - Posted by: Jrzy Grl, 3/6/2003 8:18:15 PM

#33 It's past Helen's bedtime.

Reply 40 - Posted by: shadeau, 3/6/2003 8:18:21 PM

The media was the one that started the rumor that OBL had been captured and then another rumor that the president will declare war tonight. Rumors are just wishfull thinking. THis is a serious speech and pay attention to what he's saying.

Reply 41 - Posted by: sgtbono, 3/6/2003 8:18:21 PM

I would set a firm deadline , How does tomorrow morning sound?

Reply 42 - Posted by: data2, 3/6/2003 8:18:31 PM

He will give the orders on his timetable whether you vomit or not!

Reply 43 - Posted by: statfrog, 3/6/2003 8:18:41 PM

Any one else noticed that Bush set a tone of solemnity that the press seems to be following? This is not your normal press conference--the atmosphere and internal dynamics are totally different.

Reply 44 - Posted by: Midwest Mom, 3/6/2003 8:19:22 PM

#43 I noticed that too....

Reply 45 - Posted by: Trust No One, 3/6/2003 8:19:23 PM

WHY do these idiots keep talking about 'more time'!!!

Can't they get it through their thick skulls that he ain't gittin' no mo stinking time!!!!

Reply 46 - Posted by: Ceci, 3/6/2003 8:19:41 PM

He's just helping us to get ready for this war. We are hearing from him now, not the cabinet members on the Sunday shows or C-Span.

Reply 47 - Posted by: Nam65-66, 3/6/2003 8:21:12 PM

If you want a firm deadline, how about last week.

Reply 48 - Posted by: septum, 3/6/2003 8:21:25 PM

Don't kid yourselves, Sadaam can win this war. If he inflicts early American casualties, the American support for war will evaporate, and Bush would resign. That's why we must attack Sadaam NOW!

Reply 49 - Posted by: truthshallsetyoufree, 3/6/2003 8:21:27 PM

more time to come and kill us?

Reply 50 - Posted by: jammer, 3/6/2003 8:21:43 PM

What was the point of this conference? Absolutely nothing new.

Reply 51 - Posted by: kennowen, 3/6/2003 8:23:21 PM

Stating the facts is the point. If everyone 'got' it , the questions wouldn't be so inane.

Reply 52 - Posted by: Tsarevna, 3/6/2003 8:23:23 PM

33, 39, I'm pretty sure she's hanging upside down in a bellfrey this time of night.

Reply 53 - Posted by: auntdot, 3/6/2003 8:23:40 PM

Sorry posters, I wanted a strong speech here today.

GWB looks and is speaking like a beaten puppy, not a man who is about to lead us to war.

Reply 54 - Posted by: Caprine, 3/6/2003 8:23:49 PM

To the question of more time and getting more countries on board:
Pres. Bush should have been more clear about the motives of others countries.
"Other countries do not operate in a vacuum. They have alliances and business considerations with other countries, just as we do. I can understand that a country that has oil contracts at risk, or weapons sales, or a greater alliance with Iraq, would be hestitant to jump off the fence and make this difficult decision. But, the United States should, in the end, disregard self-serving opinions when those opinions are in direct conflict with our national security."

Reply 55 - Posted by: TheMotherCO, 3/6/2003 8:24:12 PM

I think he is very serious and on the verge of losing his temper if there is a bunch of foolishness brought up by the reporters. I also expect fur to fly after Blix's timid little idiot speech commending sadaam for destroying a few little bombs.
Some boobs on this thread must be just visiting - not very bright comments.

Reply 56 - Posted by: Rhonda, 3/6/2003 8:24:44 PM

#53, my husband said the almost the same identical thing. He said and I quote. "Damn, he acts a little whipped puppy. What's wrong?"

Reply 57 - Posted by: SayHey2u, 3/6/2003 8:25:02 PM

Out here, this is being carried on channel 2, 4, 5, 7, 11 and cable. It is reaching people who usually only hear what Dan, Tom and Peter tell them. Not everyone is as informed as LDotters and you #34.

He is also warning the other countries that whatever they decide tomorrow in the UN, it's irrelevant to the US and our allies.

Reply 58 - Posted by: eliza, 3/6/2003 8:25:02 PM

FOLKs:

please chill out on Pres. Bush.

(a) he gets criticized all the time for not having enough news conferences; he's doing that now. He is making himself available to the press corps and theoretically by implication the 'murican people.

(b) This conference stated ONE thing of interest that is critical: tomorrow Blix reports. He is being instructed to report yeah/nay as per whether Saddam has complied or not. The US/GB/Spain etc. will try to take it from there. With that answer, however, we are free to proceed.

(c) Bush also says (after the above), "Saddam is not complying... Saddam is deceiving: ETC. This is a direct challenge to Blix-y: I dare you to disagree with this overall assessment tomorrow.

Stay tuned.

Reply 59 - Posted by: wise_n_texas, 3/6/2003 8:25:06 PM

He makes me so proud to be an American. His parents hearts must be bursting with pride.

Reply 60 - Posted by: bean, 3/6/2003 8:25:17 PM

I think it is a very solemn tone for a very solemn occasion. If you don't understand that then you are plain wierd.

Reply 61 - Posted by: FunnyGirl, 3/6/2003 8:25:55 PM

Speaking from the heart...

Reply 62 - Posted by: habitationofjustice, 3/6/2003 8:26:00 PM

#34, As one poster already noted, Bush has to keep repeating the same theme because of the way the media skews his speeches and press conferences. The war has already begun, it simply hasn't been officially announced yet. There have already been some preliminary military strikes to pave the way for a lightening quick knockout strike that will be decisive. To think for one moment that Bush or his advisors have not considered Hussein's possible retaliation of chemical strikes is to show virtually no confidence in this current administration. have a little faith. My prediction though is that Saddam Hussein will be killed by his own people, not by us. One way or another, Hussein is not coming out of this alive.

Reply 63 - Posted by: Shaggee-doo, 3/6/2003 8:26:19 PM

The President's answers are quite telling. Listen carefully!

Reply 64 - Posted by: nosillod, 3/6/2003 8:26:32 PM

The reason for this conference is that there are alot of people out there who don't log in to Lucianne.com and don't know what is going on. They need educated.

I like his tone. It is serious and presidential. He takes his job and responsiblity as President seriously.

Reply 65 - Posted by: jammer, 3/6/2003 8:26:43 PM

Good point that the tone of this conference is distinctly somber - like the faces of the American commanders at the White House yesterday after meeting with Bush.

Reply 66 - Posted by: KidRed, 3/6/2003 8:27:04 PM

He subtly srnds very clear messages, just understated. These reporters are probably on Saudi payroll

Reply 67 - Posted by: Opsimath, 3/6/2003 8:27:52 PM

John King, what a Bozo, just a puppet for the dems mantras: the price, personal vendetta, terror retaliation at home, yada yada. Can't they come up with an original question?

Reply 68 - Posted by: gloating, 3/6/2003 8:28:14 PM

I am so grateful he is the president of the united states.

he took an oath...he swore to protect our nation.

and he meant it . I am so filled with emotion about this man. I feel he is doing what he was meant to do.

Reply 69 - Posted by: voxpopuli, 3/6/2003 8:28:18 PM

i just turned it off.. some Communist from the Clinton News Network just asked how he responds to charges that ted kennedy (the drowner) accuses him of making this war a personal vendetta (in regards to his dad, i suppose)..
i'll watch the real answers here on Lucianne later...

Reply 70 - Posted by: donna quixote, 3/6/2003 8:28:51 PM

Vapid and vacuous? Aunt Dot, did your dictionary have only the v pages? I think he is doing a splendid job. It is a very serious situation and he is being very serious. His first duty is to protect the US and he is trying his best to do that.

Reply 71 - Posted by: Penelope, 3/6/2003 8:28:55 PM

George W. Bush is a patient man. It's showing in his demeanor answering dumb questions from the press. At a time of OUR choosing. Be patient. George Bush is an honorable man. He will do the right thing at the right time. Faith is important. Pray for our troops.

Reply 72 - Posted by: Obadiah, 3/6/2003 8:29:49 PM

What? Do all these news jerks simply want to talk about the protesters and how France and Germany MUST be right. Gee, no bias here!

Reply 73 - Posted by: kennowen, 3/6/2003 8:30:09 PM

I seriously think he'd like to punch Moron. I know I would.

Reply 74 - Posted by: statfrog, 3/6/2003 8:30:28 PM

Remember folks not everyone out there is a news junkie watching Fox etc for hours and surfing the web for the latest. This is probably the longest time Bush has been live on the networks, unedited, for months. This may be old to many here, but to the probably the majoirty of the public this is the closest they have gotten to having Bush prepare them for the war.

I posted above the atmosphere is solemn and I think that has hit the press corps--no catiness, verbal spars--this is too serious a matter and its really hitting home.

Don't underestimate Bush.

That said I was still hoping he would announce the bombs have started falling.

Reply 75 - Posted by: mkjessup, 3/6/2003 8:30:29 PM

# 25, take a chill pill. Would you prefer Billigula and his chuckleheaded approach to every situation?

I think not.

I loved the way President Bush just smacked down a question which quoted Senator Oldsmobile (D-Chappaquiddick) as saying something about the President's 'fixation' on Saddam, and President Bush just said 'my job is to protect the American people', and he reiterated the fact that he swore an oath on the Bible to defend the Constitution and America, and that's exactly what he's going to do.

This is not a Saturday Night Live performance with a saxophone ala # 42, this is the real world with a real man in charge.

Reply 76 - Posted by: stlou, 3/6/2003 8:30:36 PM

What happened to the Delta house I used to know. Some of you here sound like whipped puppies. This is a press the flesh conference. jeeesh

Reply 77 - Posted by: wise_n_texas, 3/6/2003 8:30:54 PM

How petty does Terry Moran sound/look????

Reply 78 - Posted by: eliza, 3/6/2003 8:31:00 PM

One other point I wish Bush would make.

9/11 did change how the US feels about its security. It changed how Bush feels in his role. These are all reasons Saddam must be taken out. (This, he said}.

In addition to these, however, the nature of biological and chemical agents requires that we address these threats outright as opposed to relying on deterrence as the deterrence paradigm does not apply to these types of threats -- it only applied to when it was US-USSR and when the nature of the weaponry between these two powers was nuclear.

Side note: I hate the press.

Reply 79 - Posted by: twinkles, 3/6/2003 8:31:08 PM

W is grim...it's a grim situation. He's letting the press have it. Notice how they have no interest that Saddam murders and tortures his people.

Reply 80 - Posted by: Billyjet, 3/6/2003 8:31:11 PM

Nice smack down of Moron Moran. You prob asked this quest before last resolun....

Boy moran must feel dumb

Reply 81 - Posted by: Caprine, 3/6/2003 8:31:17 PM

A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still.
There is no underestimating the mischievous of the anti-Bush, anti-America crowd.
Closed minds will never be convinced.

Reply 82 - Posted by: wyowumin, 3/6/2003 8:31:27 PM

Some of you seem to believe that unless the President is bellowing and making threats a la Albright that he isn't tough enough. We had our fill of bellicosity when that horrible mutant was our president. What we are hearing and experiencing now is someone who understands the gravity of what he is about to do---send our American young to war and save the world once again.

Reply 83 - Posted by: jmurr, 3/6/2003 8:31:30 PM

Maybe my imagination, but I think he's warming up.

Thoughts?

Reply 84 - Posted by: TheMotherCO, 3/6/2003 8:31:32 PM

Obviously, you are dog lovers and have never seen a whipped puppy or don't know the difference. I think he is perfect, reasonable, informed and informing and I think he has to repeat and repeat and repeat. If the naysayers have their way, the USA will have diseases everywhere and bomb raddled cities, because they really just want to wait another 12 years and then blame it on GW for political gain and yes, I do think the dims are capable of just that.

Reply 85 - Posted by: LittleHoodedMonk, 3/6/2003 8:31:38 PM

Terry Moran, or Moron, just showed what a snot-nosed kid he still is. He asked a totally disrespectful question that is getting a respectful answer from President Bush. Terry wants to be the replacement for Gunga Dan, obviously.

Reply 86 - Posted by: septum, 3/6/2003 8:31:54 PM

Bush is constantly mixing the imperative to eliminate Sadaam's WMD,with the need to eliminate Sadaam. I think this confusion is driving a lot of countries away.

Reply 87 - Posted by: Midwest Mom, 3/6/2003 8:32:13 PM

I for one think he's doing a fabulous job. This is serious stuff.. I am very pleased with it, speaking from the viewpoint of one who has a very close family member deployed right now. I am glad HE'S the one who's the commander-in-chief and would have expected him to behave any way other than he is right now.

Reply 88 - Posted by: BBanzai, 3/6/2003 8:32:50 PM

Sounds like some people got the Democrat talking points today--"whipped puppy" keeps turning up....

Reply 89 - Posted by: volcanic, 3/6/2003 8:32:53 PM

Forgive me, i am a broken glass Republican but I had to walk away from Bush`s speech tonight after about twenty minutes- it was disjointed, lacked focus and was a very great disappoint at a very critical juncture! What was he thinking? I really don`t know. This should have been a time for stating great purpose and direction. I hope the rest of his speech is more effective but I could not bear to watch any more! What a blown opportunity!

Reply 90 - Posted by: KidRed, 3/6/2003 8:33:18 PM

These questions are trying to trap Bush not find info.

Reply 91 - Posted by: ladydawgfan, 3/6/2003 8:33:20 PM

He just called Saddam Insane ''a cancer'' in Iraq!!!! Extremely appropo!!!!

Reply 92 - Posted by: Obadiah, 3/6/2003 8:34:50 PM

My thoughts? The media has ONE view and they simple cannot get past it. How many questions have come from the left, i.e., those noble protesters, why are we going it alone, etc., etc.

Reply 93 - Posted by: Penelope, 3/6/2003 8:35:07 PM

Richard Gregory? what a JERK! it was not Sadaam that Bush said he wanted "dead or alive" it was OBL. These idiots can't even get one fact straight. What a moron. sheesh

Reply 94 - Posted by: lamm, 3/6/2003 8:35:10 PM

This press conference is completely pointless.

Reply 95 - Posted by: Ceci, 3/6/2003 8:35:39 PM

Dubya is speaking softly; the big stick is parked in Saddam's backyard. Let's leave the fist-shaking and verbal bombast to fools like Fidel, Arafat, Osama, and Saddam.

Reply 96 - Posted by: jammer, 3/6/2003 8:35:56 PM

"We will be changing the regime"

Bush must be ready to spit at the unbelievable hostility of every question. What a bunch of losers with their stupid questions!

Reply 97 - Posted by: wise_n_texas, 3/6/2003 8:36:01 PM

What a tremendous moment for this man. He is a temendous leader and has the moral compass to lead this nation.

Reply 98 - Posted by: eliza, 3/6/2003 8:36:09 PM

Some folks it seems are tuning in for more info-tainment.

Grow up.

This is serious business.

You want sweeping, dramatic speeches or do you want progress? You want a feel-dynamic, fireworks and patriotism whizbang speech or DO YOU want the job to get done?

Life is not always like a 22 minute television show; it's not perfectly scripted, it doesn't always inspire the nether reaches; if he gets the job done and as he proceeds along to this he has my absolute support.

Reply 99 - Posted by: Tsarevna, 3/6/2003 8:36:24 PM

The fact that there are obvious talking points being put out there (just about all of them beginning with "I'm a Republican, but. . .") convinces me even further that Bush is doing as great a job as any man who ever held this office.

Reply 100 - Posted by: Jrzy Grl, 3/6/2003 8:36:28 PM

Oh good grief . . . the "smoking gun" question.

Note to presstitute: What rock have you been living under for the past 12 years? Ask the Kurds. Go back and read the info regarding the '93 WTC bombing.

Reply 101 - Posted by: texasredtop, 3/6/2003 8:36:34 PM

There are some here that are so used to having an actor for a president that they don't recognize someone that speaks from their heart and tells the truth.

God Bless You President Bush!

Reply 102 - Posted by: auntdot, 3/6/2003 8:36:55 PM

When you are going to send soldiers to war you have to tell people you know what you are doing.

This President has not made his case.

And there is a strong case to be made.

Why is GWB wimping out at this juncture?

Reply 103 - Posted by: kennowen, 3/6/2003 8:37:15 PM

He's giving them a chance to 'show their cards'.Nice.

Reply 104 - Posted by: amereagle, 3/6/2003 8:37:33 PM

"It's time for the world to show their cards."

UN, are you relevant to peace and helpful to sovereignty, or are you HISTORY.

Reply 106 - Posted by: Embee, 3/6/2003 8:38:21 PM

Terry Moran is a disrespectful girly boy. The look on his face when he posed his ''question'' was one of complete disdain and petulance.

How I loathe that man!

I think his tone is guarded, somber, but as usual, commanding.

Reply 107 - Posted by: Trust No One, 3/6/2003 8:38:22 PM

SLAM, DAM the UN. I loveee it!!!!

We don't need them!!!!!
