Quote of The Day
With Friends Like This Award
The comedian (Al Franken) who is friendly with both Gore and Clinton, said he
couldn't remember Clinton's exact words but that the former president did
mention the possibility that Gore might have been impeached. "I think he said
they'd probably be impeaching him right now," Franken recalled. Franken told
ABCNEWS his chat with Clinton "may have been a private conversation."
Shock of the Day: Janet Maslin, in (amazingly) the New York Times
comes
dangerously close to praising Bernard Goldberg's book on leftist media bias.
After Bernie did his landmark piece on the subject for the Wall Street
Journal in l996 we feared for his job.
Now we fear for Janet's.
Heddo Mudduh, Heddo Fadduh: Evidently a nice Red Cross lady visited
John
Walker, the Marin County Mullah, in his steel container at Camp Rhino and
helped him write a letter home. Anyone notice
he signed it "John Walker Lindh"?
Odd. We wonder how long ago his parents forgot who he was.
Shell Game: As we continue to blow the flip-flops off the remaining
al-Qaeda, officials continue to argue about the whereabouts of binLaden.
The
Christian Science Monitor told us yesterday that he'd split for Pakistan.
Today our military officials say
wrongo - he's still in Tora Bora.
Question:
How would they know either way?
And The Beat Goes On: We waited all day yesterday to see the grainy
amatuer
video of binLaden at dinner supposedly chortling over the Sept 11th attack.
Half the guests on TV yammer-fests seem to have seen it and
still nada, nothing, zippo.
Could it be the four language specialists the White House
hired can't figure out how to translate "You want fries with that?"
Another One Bits the Dust: Remember Peter Paul? He's the big Clinton
donor
who sued both BJ and Hillary claiming Clinton promised he would work for him
after his term if Paul ponied up a million or two. He also claimed Hillary
never reported the donation. A judge has thrown Paul's case out because Paul
is currently in some legal trouble out of the country.
Its a fascinating case
and if you have the time check out JudicialWatch.org (link is on post #3
of the thread here) it will get your engine started this cold December
morn.
TV Note: Dan Rather, on Imus this morning, petulantly called his not
being
permitted to hook up with the Marines in Afghanistan "a political screw-up"
and says that he was "hurt" about it and came home.
