Just A Bunch of Chicks Sitting Around 'Tawking': It's so easy to do on a balmy fall evening when the vibes are right and the company friendly. Christiane Amanpour just got carried away on Tina Brown's not-exactly-cutting-edge CNBC show and jerked her employer, CNN, around a bit too sharply. Apparently, she's been called on the carpet.
Hillary's Tin General: Anyone get the feeling Gen. Wesley Clark is waiting for the high sign from Hillary? The AP has carried a story-a-day teasing Clark's possible candidacy. We've had "Clark may..." " Clark might..." "Clark could..." "Clark would..." for weeks. It's all looking very sock-puppet and orchestrated. Somewhere deep in Afghanistan, Osama's bony fingers tremble with joy as he adjusts his earphones. Meanwhile, NY's premier pol of them all, Charlie Rangel has started to rally the faithful around Clark. There's a script being written here and it doesn't seem likely that the General is in control of any of it. As for the man himself, Rich Lowry puts it all in perspective.
Ahnold's Leedle Vimmin: The high-light (low- light?) of Mr. and Mrs. Schwarzenegger's appearance on Oprah yesterday was a blue remark that had Maria clapping her hand over his mouth and muttering that her mother was watching. Keep in mind that Maria's mother, Eunice, must have no allusions about the son-in-law who turned to her on their wedding day and said, "Your daughter has a great butt." Shocked Eunice is not and probably never has been.
Credit Where Credit Is Due: We spend a lot of time bashing, bruising and generally beating dems about the head and shoulders. Hopefully it is done in the spirit of good will and honest political differences but, enough is enough from the dems and that tired old "Bush stole the election" wheeze. How refreshing it is for a liberal on a liberal site to actually spell out the record. We direct your attention of William Saletan's piece in Slate for its fundamental fairness. We will try to come up with something equally enlightening from our side. We just need time to think.....
LDotters Are The Best: Our first day with the extended tin cup has been a smashing success and contributions to this site are rolling in nicely. We thank all of you who clicked the button (top left-side, front page) early and hope others will join in. Your faith in us mists the eye and warms the heart.
