-Vice President Dick Cheney

Wimps United: Nicholas Kristof proudly
struts his liberal wimpery
in his New
York Times column this morning (Clinton taught us liberals are lovers not
fighters - see Dick Cheney's not so subtle Quote of the Day) and accuses
Bush
of harboring a bomb obsession. But,
leave it to Dick Morris
in the New York Post to nicely balance the
situation. His last paragraph says it all.
Stories We Love: The high-living of conferring do-gooders always
makes
great copy and
tales of delegates feasting
at the "Pollution Summit" were
inevitable. Our favorite tidbit was their outrage that Nelson Mandela was a
no-show. His office informed the conference planners that he wasn't aware
that he was supposed to be there as no one had remembered to invite him.
Read This and Wait: The Washington Post has a very interesting story
this
morning on the White House refusal to keep discussions of Clinton's pardons
secret. We aren't lawyers (much to our mothers' happy tears of gratitude)
and
don't pretend to understand this one. Hopefully
it will get sorted out
in the
media today. Meanwhile, be gleeful that anyone is looking into that mess
at all.
Learning to Love Abductors: In a piece that offers to explain why
men
abduct, torture, rape and often kill children, the New York Times seems to
be asking for "understanding."
To this we say, "Feh!"
and point you to what
may be the single-most cynically-hilarious post of the night. Poster
'kidbuck" asks, "If I kidnap a child do I get my picture in the
announcements
section of the Times? "
They Have Won! Remember a year ago when we were told if we didn't go
out to
eat or to the mall, fly, drive, cruise, spend, play, sing, dance or ride a
horse in the wind the "terrorists will have won"?
Well, we are getting close
as security at the U.S. Open orders the NYPD to put photo ID's on sniffer
dogs.
It certainly gives new meaning to the phrase, "Bomb Lab."
