Respect cuts both ways.

The LDot Weekend Roundtable

Rumors started recently that Dick Cheney may not be on the ticket in 2004. If not, who would you like to see as vice president and why?

Saturday Snap-Shot:

Princess Lizzie: Lizzie Grubman copped her plea yesterday and after a year of speculation by the media, there's more. The NY papers are full of the details as well as one would expect but we found the papers across the country leading with Lizzie, too. From the NYPost, the headline: 'Princess Takes Another Wild Ride on Road to Infamy'. From the NYDaily News this front page header: 'Lizzie Heads To Big House'. You can even read up on the latest accomodations at the Suffolk County facility.

Raunchy to racy? Described as 'Racy L.A. host replaces WNEW's shock jerks', the report that Tom Leykis will be replacing Opie and Anthony, temporarily. The paper's in the NY area report that sources have said that WNEW evening hosts Ron and Fez - who also fill the airwaves with sexually oriented comedy - could be in line to take over Opie and Anthony's prime slot while insiders have suggested that WNEW could dump its talk shows for a new music format now that its top money earners are gone.

Flooding continues: More talk on the ex-president's future in TV-talk. Haven't we heard just about enough now? Well, Ben Stein's look into his book-of-tips-and-tricks for success he's penned for the NYTimes as well as those submitted by you, LDotters, make this an exception. It's worth the log-on to the Times.

More celebrity treatment. With his daddy, Bryant Gumbel set to marry at The Breakers later today down in West Palm Beach, the tabs have plenty to say about Bradley Gumbel's quick release from custody yesterday as alleged purse-snatcher and spin on the flight-catcher-celeb just an hour afterwards.

Sign of the times. In the mid-70's this 'boy-toy' was all the rage. G.I. Joe's baaaaaack: as a scuba-diver Kung-Fu-clinching a knife in one hand while fending off a shark with the other. We read that more are on the way.

Tomorrow: We'll be back Sunday morning with your first look at the Sunday papers. And maybe a real 'news' item or two and less talk about the 'future' status of Lizzie, Bill and etc.

For your LComStaff, as the late-summer-Saturday-news-sleep-in-and snooze-siesta continues, Amy Sheehan.
