There are times when Barney would really rather walk.

Time Does It Again: In an infuriating attempt at "balance," Time magazine buries a piece on the Clinton/Enron connection in their business section. No doubt the editors felt this makes up for their stenographic duties for Sandy Berger's dictation two weeks ago. The piece unleashed the Ldotter hounds of hell and produced a lively thread over the weekend.

Monday Morning Blood-Boiler: If the Time piece didn't get your engine started this morning, check out the Washington Times' report on how the NEA suggests we inform our children about who is to blame for 9/11.

Guess Who Came To Dinner: Adam Nagourney, at the NYTimes, struggles mightily to find something wrong with the way the Bushes entertain both at the White House and in Crawford which he calls a "sleepy furnace." An early evening with Kinky Friedman and a ten o'clock turn-in clearly disappoints the Manhattanite.

Is It Over? Has the magic died? Is the fifty year political cakewalk for anyone related to a Kennedy finally over? If so Kathleen Kennedy Townsend may have been the one who ended the dream of Camelot. Maybe she was given bad karma from the start when parents Bobby and Ethel picked Senator Joe McCarthy as her godfather. Deborah Orin takes a look at the dynasty in decline.

Maybe He Could Wear A Dress? Years ago, when he hit a ratings slump, Phil Donahue showed up on the air in a pleated skirt. It was not a good look. From this story in the New York Times we can only draw the conclusion that even that won't help now. Graveyard whistling NBC execs tell us to look for him to interview Oprah, Harrison Ford and George Clooney this fall. Wow, we can't wait.

David Does Dallas and Beyond: David Horowitz made the A-list and bussed it over to the "sleepy furnace" and the Western White House. The visit clearly mellowed the volatile former street fighter. He has produced a piece that can only be called charming. This should send you into your week feeling upbeat and calm.
