The LDot Weekend Roundtable

Many of us are hooked on cable news if we watch TV at all. MSNBC is in trouble and whether we like it or not we really need all three networks. If you suddenly found yourself the producer of a cable network, how would you program the schedule? Remember, you are the total boss. Spare no expense.

Saturday Snap-Shot

Friendly skies: The LComStaff and weekend crew are always looking for ways to keep our readers informed of the latest news and information. August finds many on-the-go with late season travel plans. There have been several recent developments that have been reported that perhaps we should share with you: Officials of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) have told Northwest Airlines security specialists that their agency is developing brain-monitoring devices to read terrorist's minds at airports. We must alert you to the potential for error however, with the prospects of this same agency finding a missing $159 million NASA spacecraft becoming dimmer as astronomers spotted what appears to be the probe slightly off course and shattered into two large pieces on Friday.

Carry-on: We find that American Airlines have banned certain breeds of dogs from its planes after an incident in late July when a pit bull escaped from its cage in the cargo hold of a flight from San Diego to New York and destroyed backup radio and navigation equipment.

Packing fashion: Wondering what to pack for that trip to the shore that is sure to attract attention? Try this - a full-body outfit that covers your arms down to the wrists, your legs to the ankles and even much of your head. It's making a splash in Turkey and our experts suggest the blue number for that special outing.

Time saver: Do your plans this weekend begin and end with yard-work? Would you rather be logged on to your computer and visiting here? Well, here's what ya may be able to do soon: have your lawnmower operated via the Internet. The robotic grass cutter is controlled through a web page which monitors the mower by a small camera on the side of your house while you catch up with the news or join in the Weekend Roundtable, guilt free.

Much more: We'll return tomorrow morning with our look at the Sunday papers. Check Must Reads for updated reports and features throughout the weekend.

This just in: Our sources tell us that it's another Vineyard vacation for the Clinton's. Call your travel agent to avoid possible side effects.
