Some people actually want to be here.

The LDot Weekend Roundtable

This week we take you to.....As you may have noticed, we have had vacations on our mind. While we probably won't get one this year we thought we'd take an "air" vacation with you (as in "air" guitar for the hip-deprived). What would be your fantasy vacation? Money doesn't matter and you can go any place in the universe with anyone you choose. Just play.......it's Argh-gust.

Saturday Snap-Shots:

Follow-da-money-up: Yesterday we featured Deborah Orin's piece on you-know-who-that-was planning to keep-da-money that Sam Waskal of ImClone fame donated to her campaign. Well, someone must be following our coverage of that story. Here's Deborah Orin's follow-up in the NYPost. It seems that late Friday afternoon, Clinton's NY spokesperson Karen Dunn announced that the senator has decided to 'donate' $7,000 to an un-announced 'charity'. We will be watching but not holding-our-breath.

Goodbye, Gore! Well, the NYTimes has spoken so it MUST be what the democrats are talking about amongst themselves. They don't want Al to run in 2004. In this weekend's version of al-anonymous the tribute is worth a barf-alert or two, indeed. But we have our own advice for Mr. Let-r-rip: Run, Al, run.

Daily dis-hertation: A moral defense of gossip? An associate professor of philosophy at Alfred University in south central New York has concluded that gossip is good for you. We found several problems with his study that appeared in the International Journal of Applied Philosophy: Mr. Westacott not only says he finds celebrity gossip a bore, he lost any of our interest with the PC-kooky-meter with handy flowchart he included for the 'morally aware gossiper to navigate the protocol of morally acceptable and unacceptable tattling .' He even pooh-poohs the tabloids as 'self-serving'. We serve up our own dish here daily with nary a flowchart and it's always mmmmm-mmmmm-good.

Rummy's Reply: Responding to Dick Armey's vision of how to deal with Saddam which included letting him rant and rave all he wanted: 'It hasn't done the job', Rumsfeld said. We will rely on you, our readers to respond to the statements made by this charter member of Hollywood's left-wing elite , Woody Harrelson.

Two leading men: With the brave and personal announcement by Charlton Heston yesterday that doctors have told him he has symptoms similar to Alzheimer's disease came this statement of support from Nancy Reagan: 'Our family knows all too well the cruelty of this disease, and we pray that God will give the Heston family, especially [Heston's wife] Lydia. ... the strength to face each day that lies ahead...'.
