Day Brighteners: Two head-clearing and delightful columns on deck this morning are the Washington Times' Tony Blankley's fast-paced round-up of our current silly-season (Bill Moyers drunk driving, Bill Clinton's gun, Lieberman's lip and Clinton's cred rating.) Then, there is Jennifer Harper's Inside Politics revealing a mixed salad of political happenings that always satisfies. Check out Ann Coulter's verbal slam dunk of Paul Begala Monday night. The girl's got the chops.
Disconnect: As hard as the Bush dissing media tries, they can't make a case against Bush's three week "vacation" in Crawford, Texas. Every CEO, shrink, and Wall Street warrior is phoning in from the beach and all Bush wants to do is get out of the 105 degree Washington weather. Here's a Gallup poll that says the public doesn't give a flip.
Don't Miss: For one of the best threads on the site this morning, check out the rag-doll shake your fellow Ldotters give the Orlando Sentinel's Kathleen Parker (a writer we admire) for her column today. She tries to suggest that we are all to blame for 9/11 and they aren't having any.
Wally Wrestles Roger: The NY Daily News gives CNN CEO Wally Isaacson, a not-quite-open-mouthed-kiss this morning and explains the pain, oh, the pain, of duking it out daily with Fox's Roger Ailes. Isaacson wouldn't comment but an "ex-colleague" says running CNN has been "less fun than he expected." Fun? Fun? These jobs are supposed to be fun?
Near Miss: Leave it to the New York Observer to point out where Jesse Jackson has been of late - hanging with Hamas and risking his final ruination. Few reported that he was on his way to share a falafel with the head of Hamas when they blew up those people at Hebrew University. Ever the opportunist, Jackson had his private plane (wonder who pays for that) do a 180 and sped to the hospital in Jerusalem to comfort the wounded. Nice.
LDOTTER NOTE: Please check the date of the article you plan to post. If it was published earlier than the last 24 hour news cycle it will be closed and deleted. This is very important.
