Short Cuts

Marching Toward The Wittenberg Door: Conservative Anglicans huddle today to figure out what to do after a historical vote by church leaders yesterday to elevate an avowed homosexual to Bishop of the Church. The church will never be the same. Said bishop-elect V. Gene Robinson, commenting on his victory: "God has once again brought Easter out of Good Friday." Self-absorption is such an unattractive trait.

Why Not? Former VWRC hostess and David-Brockish political turncoat Arianna Huffington has thrown her headband into the California recall race. August can be soooo boring in Brentwood, darling. A pornographer, a stripper and we hear a Disney World stuffed animal are already in - so why shouldn't a girl have some fun? She's got the clothes, the money, and the gay ex-husband to campaign with. Now, if she can just nail the English language down a bit more firmly, voters could understand what she is saying.

Rove Alert: Karl Rove is supposed to have giggled maniacally at the sight of Deaniebabies swarming for Howard Dean and egged them on. The right may want to rethink their zeal for Dean in 2004 and turn to author, wife, mother, champion forgiver and U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton. Here, Dick Morris - his clever mind working a bit overtime for August - suggests that the Clintons can't take the chance that a dem might win in 2004 and eat Hillary's political lunch permanently. She will have to get in. If Rove was cackling at Dean being beatable, we are salivating at the chance to remove Hillary from the public eye. Come on, girl, jump!

Al's Endgame: Josh Benson in the New York Observer takes a look at Al Sharpton's strategy for taking his power brokerage to the convention in Boston next year. When you run down the list of dem candidates and ask which one has a sense of humor and real street smarts, Al Sharpton wins hands-down. He won't win the big one but he can make a whole lotta trouble. Keep an eye out.

LDotter Note: Participants in this forum are forgetting themselves in the heat. We realize that several stories lately justifiably anger the blood but we ask that you not resort to just plain foul-taste to express it. Those of us who monitor this board have had it with obscene, scatological and violent comments. All we can do about it is delete your posting privileges and we are not hesitating. If you have something particularly putrid to say - take it outside. Some sites don't mind that stuff. We do.
