We Could Be Wrong, But: Is there something just a tad squirrely about a memorial service for a little murdered girl in the Crystal Cathedral with 1,000 people who never knew her in attendance and a full hour on Larry King for her grieving mother? On the show, Erin Runnion said she is angry at a jury that freed her child's murderer. Wouldn't better programming have been an interview with some of them?

While On the Subject.........Could we please not see the abducted Elizabeth Smart's father on TV anymore telling yet another hapless interviewer "I can't answer that, it's part of the investigation." Apparently, bringing in a sketch artist, which is fairly routine in such cases, has just been thought of.

Thwap! It hardly took a heartbeat for Congress to remind the Randy Rover, Bill Clinton, that the override of a certain 1995 veto he recently blamed on Republicans was a bipartisan effort spearheaded by some pretty big dem big shots.

Zoo Parade: There are certain Manhattan dinner parties one would pay not to go to. Topping the no-go list would be one where the hostess sings solos between courses. Some deluded TV execs have been convinced that there is a demographic "sweet spot" of 18 to 49 year olds who are dying to vicariously dine with 56 year old Liza Minnelli and her exceedingly strange new husband. They feel this age group has "grown up with her celebrity." Doesn't seem like there was any choice.

Our Kind of Dinner Party: A far more interesting night out would to have been at the table next to the conversation overheard between WorldCom's John Sidgmore and an irate and "ruined" female companion. We do wish people wouldn't say "bleep" so much, it coarsens the environment.

Too Close To Home: Amazingly, a camp in Marion, Alabama was used to train Islamic militants and no one here figured it out. If John Ashcroft had been around with his TIPS idea the cable guy could have told them. Authorities believe there may have been more. Maybe they could start looking in Arkansas?
