Why is this man sweating?
Ah, Commerce: Dick Morris has a good column in this morning's New York Post on Howlin' Howard Dean forcing the dems to the edge of the McGovern cliff but that's not the only copy that caught our interest. Ingenious salesmen have sold space, apparently because it is an article about Dean, to Vermont Bed and Breakfasts clearly jumping on the wedding wagon and offering "commitment" package deals for boy brides and grooms. We'll check to see if this ingenuity prevails on sites that offer other articles about the man who is giving dems a very bad case of the yips.
Oh, Anger: We thought Shock-Talker Michael Savage would take at least a few news cycles to quietly consult with a press agent and an Anger Management counselor before he commented on his firing from by MSNBC. Clearly he's going it alone. On his radio show this weekend he called his former bosses "fools" and said he didn't know what he was saying would be on the air. This should be a lesson to anyone contemplating a career in broadcasting. Assume, at all times, that all mikes are live.
Ah, Spin: If it weren't for the web and its ability to let you read as many voices as you can absorb, you probably wouldn't have spotted this piece on Afghanistan in USA Today. Apparently it isn't nearly as bad as the Big Guys want you to believe. One can only imagine how fast this story would have been spiked at the New York Times. And, if that doesn't calm your concerns try this: This letter is from a U.S. Army Major serving in Iraq and has been posted on an excellent blog called - mysteriously - Little Green Footballs. It would not only have been spiked but burned as subversive.
LDotter Note: Our summer interns, while hardly the sheltered progeny of privilege, have voiced concern over some of the tasteless replies they have had to delete. As free speech advocates, this is a sometimes painful exercise. We know it is difficult in this a summer of sodomy news, Ann Coulter and Hillary on the hustings, jocks, both talk and sports behaving badly and general unrest in the world to maintain a comfortable level of civility but let's try a little harder. Don't type dirty and try not to suggest killing people. After all, it's for the children.
