Live from Baghdad!
John Cole - The Durham Herald-Sun
LDotter Alert: Lucianne Live! is back on the web after a week of technical problems. The live link is just to the left of the eagle's feathers at the top of the site. Tune in at 8:00 a.m. EST each weekday morning and have a cup of coffee with Lucianne. You can email her questions during the show at Lucianneg@aol.com or call 1-800-449-8255. She will talk to you. She talks to everybody.
The Glorious and the Grim: The joyous news that 19 year old PFC. Jessica Lynch has been rescued, wounded but alive, from God knows what kind of hellhole Iraqi "hospital" last night has been offset by word that her amazing rescuers found 11 dead bodies. At dawn, the wires were reporting that some may be Americans. Stay logged on. It's going to be an historic day.
Shut Up and Let Daddy Drive: Here's the WaPo's take on the rather remarkable Pentagon press conference yesterday in which the taciturn, dignified and thoroughly fed-up Air Force Gen. Richard B. Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff took one hand off the wheel, reached back with one sweeping motion and smacked as many heads as he could make contact with. Brats who can't carry a Mocha Frappe Half Skim without spilling it on their Armani slacks had finally gotten to him. He then moved on to the out-of-the-loop and in-love-with-their-own faces-on-the-tube arm chair generals. It won't shut them up but it might make them rethink the real world.
Today's Ka-Ching Thing: Julia Duin, at the Washington Times, does a nice rundown on where the dough comes from to fund what the antiwar movement wants us to think is a spontaneous uprising of the kindhearted. Anyone notice the absurdity of the Code-Pink feminists? Didn't their mothers march and scream for decades to lose that pink thing?
Angry Office: The Hill reports that Tom Daschle's "office is outraged" (interesting formulation) now that they've seen a picture of his saluting the flag with his left hand. We don't know where they've been but that picture's been on the web for months. We featured it (to great hilarity we might add) on this site last summer. An aide carefully deconstructs the picture to prove it's a fake. It's also a joke, you guys. Get over yourselves.
Here it is anyway. And here's the story.
Second Takes: This tiny item in the London Sun should give us pause. It says that the "suicide" bomber wasn't suicidal. He was wired. Add that to the Fox report yesterday that the van full of women and children that died because they wouldn't stop at a US military check point had had the men in the family held hostage and were forced to drive to their certain death.
We are learning a lot from our total war saturation. Here's a poll to prove it.
Completely Understandable: We leave you with this item because it's about guns, cars, righteous anger, saturated fat and asserting one's self. There are times when we need to remind our readers how truly un-PC we are.
