Quote of the day:

"Nobody would have predicted that I would finish ahead of Dean, Clark, Lieberman and Kucinich. I'm a first-tier candidate."

Short Cuts

LDotter Note: It looks as though the democrats who had enough energy to get themselves to the primary polls yesterday have finally picked a candidate and they have chosen the world's tallest Shar-Pei.

This morning, pundits are pointing out that one of John Kerry's problems is that he's dull. Exit poll quizzes show voters don't really think he cares a lot about the little guy, but, with a collective yawn, agree that he's the best they have to beat Bush.

John Kerry is about to find himself in a very lonely place in his own party. As the Washington Times points out: "Most of the unflattering in-depth research on him is not coming from Republicans but from reliably liberal journals such as the New Republic, the Atlantic, Slate and the New York Times. It is still to be seen if the liberal candidate can stand up to liberal scrutiny."

Kerry's luke-warm reception among his own can only be followed with the angry reaction he will face when the dems realize what they have done to themselves by nominating this flawed candidate.

And what of those he has beaten? Last heard from, the loopy General was telling a thin crowd that he was "one tough hombre." Dean, the maverick with a dream, who scattered cash all over the country and screamed his way out of the game, is still finishing a three day long speech in Michigan, sweet (and principled) Joe Lieberman has said a classy good-bye and little John Edwards is soaking in a last favorite-son warm bath filled with singing swans.

Soon, the democrats will be stuck with John Kerry, their very own Winter Soldier and a man with less snap, charisma and energy than Paris Hilton.

The democrats are facing one of the most frightening prospects since 9/11 - long, long months of boredom capped by certain defeat.
